  FOREIGN RELATIONS CHAIRMAN OF US CONGRESS SAYS HE KNOWS ALL ATROCITIES PERPETRATED BY THE TERRORISTS IN SRI LANKA

“Please know that I am aware of the many atrocities that have been perpetrated in Sri Lanka by terrorists and know that you understand the grief and sadness of the American people at this difficult time ,” said Congressman Henry Hyde.

The powerful US congressman who is the Chairman of the Committee on International Relations of the United States House of Representatives was replying to the expression of the sympathy and the condolences extended by President Chandrika Kumaratunga and high-ranking members of the Sri Lanka government on the tragedy of the loss of thousands of lives in the terrorist attack on September 11.

In a letter addressed to Dr. Warnasena Rasaputram, the Sri Lankan ambassador in Washington DC, the very influential congressman in foreign relations of the United States said that he very much appreciated the expression of sympathy of the Sri Lankan President and other high ranking members of the government.

He said that he was heartened by the fact that Sri Lanka would stand with the United States as it was launching a concerted international effort to root out terrorism from the face of the earth,

In this reply he told President Kumaratunga that he was sharing her view that we must re-double our efforts to monitor terrorist front organizations and other activities designed to raise funds to commit this heinous crimes against humanity.

“ Thank you again for your thought ful letter and your condolences during this extraordinary difficult period of the American people,” he concluded..
