JVP Rightfully Opposes The ISGA Which Does Not Augur Well For Any Administrative Indecision!

The latest stand by the coalition partner of the UPFA, the JVP to categorically oppose the ISGA demanded by the LTTE needs to be put into perspective. If the President decides to objectively look at it with a view towards acceding to LTTE demands presented in the ISGA (Interim Self Governing Authority) albeit of an apparently tough nature the JVP opposition seems logically justifiable in its stand relative to the best interests of the Sinhala Nation. Plainly and simply put the ISGA as presented is unacceptable towards preserving the Sovereignity and Territorial Integrity of Sri Lanka despite Norway the peace mediator insisting on its merits together with the undercurrents of the UNP attempting to create confusion and a rift within the UPFA which will serve both entitites very well considering the hidden agenda presented by both factions towards championing the LTTE rather than get rid of permanently the burden the LTTE has been towards Sri Lankan unity and the preservation of the unitarity of the Nation which can never be divided which would be an eventuality should the ISGA be given the nod! An affirmation attested to by many political analysts and indeed a truism given the very transparent agenda of the LTTE so full of their insincerities and inconsistencies!

THe President whose initial stance was one of vehement opposition to the ISGA in in no position to prevaricate on it and thereby ursurp the solidarity of the UPFA purely based on the pressure by Norway and the threats to return to hostilities by the LTTE which should be dealt with in a manner conducive to the climate of the Nation as well as perhaps the opinion of the International Community of primarily the superpowers. There have been many suggestions from many experts to call the LTTE bluff although the option has not been taken as opinion seems to be divided on the issue on the "what if" theory!

Given the reality that Peace has prevailed for over two years now the incomprehensibility of a return to war as anticipated by Norway, in collaboration with the UNP and the LTTE a seems to be an abomination of unjustifiable means. An aberration set in place which in all appearances seems to have been orchestrated not only destroy the political clout the President has built up as an aftermath of her resounding win at the polls if the Nation was ill appeased but also provide a foothold for her enemies to launch an insurmountable campaign towards discrediting her regardless of its success or outcome particularly if a bending to their will is effected in the process!

The President can ill afford disunity within her ranks based on the speculative ventures of Norway whose negative contributions towards Sri Lankan Peace is gaining greater momentum by the day giving rise to the sagacity that they should be deposed. Sri Lanka by rights must continue towards establisihing order and tranquility within the land without bipartisanly biased help from a Nation such as Norway whose ulterior motives have been proven time and time again by a track records which also incorporates the Middle East and the chaos left behind consequently! Their conflicts of interest too at times defies logical definition by way of its visibility and stature relative to the LTTE supportive Tamil Community within Norway growning larger by the day according to very reliable sources.

It has been emphatically pointed out by the JVP that their threat to oppose the ISGA in any form is based on their conclusions that the change of heart by the Presidents office to soften the stance on the ISGA had a lot to do with the financial gains Sri lanka would merit through international donor aid where the principle of maintaining the Sovereignity and Territorial Integrity of Sri lanka was bifurcated through forked tongue dialogue and decision making and cast to the winds together with the ethics which go towards standing by a collective decision which was made by the JVP and the PA at the inception of their joining of hands.

Undoubtedly the financial aid to Sri Lanka may be imperative at this stage of her post insurrection rebuilding but it defies all logic if the success of the receiving of the aid was subject to and conditional to the bartering away of the unitarity of the country to the very source responsible for the insurrection and the insurmountable damage which was consequential.

The JVP are not far removed from the truth when they question the propriety and legitimacy of the ISGA and those who condescend towards upholding it. Somewhat embarrasingly the President's Office would find itself on a tricky wicket if the support of the JVP was compromised and the opposition sharks moved in to claim the spoils of a split administration which would further throw the Nation into turmoil! The term 'Catch 22' could be veritably applied to the position of the Administration should its decision making depend on the collective coercions of Norway, the UNP and the LTTE and perhaps time appropriate to garner the expertise and help of a more unbiased and appropriate source which appears to be gradually looming larger than life over the horizon as India has shown willingness to play a greater role in Regional Peace and maintaining support towards Sri Lankan unitarity.
As a further caution towards the ambitions of those who promote the ISGA there appears to be the makings of a great response from a group of Sri Lankans from many walks of life calling themselves the National Patriotic Movement which has indicated a large scale protest in defiance of the ISGA which would not augur well towards the state of the Nation and its Administrative Unity.
