To Acheive A Lasting Peace The Perpetrators Of Destruction To The Nation Must Be Brought To Justice

The absurdity defined in the formal protest lodged by the LTTE against the Prabhakaran High Court Verdict lies in the reality that it took such a long time coming. The Peace Process has been undermined by the LTTE rather than any judicial decision through the many breaches they have indulged in in the North and the North East where they have continued to intimidate the Muslim Community and run their own Pseudo- Administrations with absolutely no jurisdiction to do so, also continue to stockpile arms and move cadre into strategic areas and carry on as though they rule the roost which in fact they do not.

The rest of the LTTE Idealogues rather than display discretion instead of valour if they are to accomplish any semblance of peace with so much guilt on their hands in addition to that of Prabhakaran, should probably be thankful that there have been no other prominent members of their leadership included in the court ruling though there are analysts who believe there surely are many who deserve to be and probably the organization's leadership committee as a whole. The comment has been made that the Sri Lankan Armed forces are also guilty of 'War Crimes' in utter ignorance of the definition of Territorial Integrity and Democratic Sovereignity where a band of terrorists have conducted an internal armed insurrection against it, so the more appropriate definition would be "All's fair In Love and War!" no Geneva Convention applicable as there is a subtle difference between an International Conflict and an internal armed insurrection. Ask the Hon. Mr. Vladimir Putin!

As long as there is no anarchy displayed within the Nation its Justice System must continue meting out justice to the guilty and Prabhakaran most unfortunately for himself has overstepped all his parameters in the vicious manner which directed attacks against Public and Private Buildings, Strategic Installations, Transportation Terminals, Places of Sacred Worship, Prominent National and International Leaders and masses of innocent civilians in sheer descecration and with abominable destructive force and to let such an individual go unpunished would be the real absurdity! It would be sacrileginous!

Bearing in mind that the Peace Talks have not been set in place as a platform of safety for those guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors, Peace must be an imperative consideration for all Sri Lankans but unfortunately, not for its Public Enemy No 1 wanted Nationally and Internationally and has to be accepted as a stark reality.

It appears to be a matter for curious conjecture that The Government Representation has tried to downplay the significance of the verdict against Prabhakaran in a manner reminiscent of past Administrations which have tread cautiously and lightly on issues related to crimes against the Nation and its inhabitants for fear of reprisals as was the case a decade ago involving the consecutive Tamil Nadu Supportive Gandhi Administrations of India and no matter of denial or prevarication could ever cover up for the blatant truth which was simple intimidation for which the Administration had no real answer but resign itself to the outcome.

In essence it has always been a fact of life that whether it be before or after the dust settled, it was a bounden obligation for the Ruling Party to bring in the brigands responsible for so much wanton destruction and the obstruction of the Nation's Development and Progress into the future and retarding it by decades and in the long term definiton of Peace there can be no room or space for individuals whose heinous deeds of such attrocity speak for themselves, as the individual in question.

Until Sri Lanka has brought to justice all those responsible in any way towards anarchy, wanton destruction and Crimes Against The State there will never be a lasting peace.
