In Respone To The Presidents Disagreement With The UNF MoU The Sinhala Nation has To Be Totally Supportive Of Her In Hindsight.

Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga together with her caucases in accusing the Prime Minister of ignoring her and trying to cut a deal with Tamil tiger rebels has conveyed to the Nation that she is no longer willing to tke a backseat in the matters of the Nation especially when there seems to be a blatant compromising of Sovereignity involved in the rather seedy MoU entered into with the LTTE brokered by Norway whose involvement is fast becoming dubious if an analogy was to be drawn to the result of Norway's involvement in the Mid- East Crisis which has tarnised its image based on the mayhem ensuing and Norwa's total incompetence and bungling which has led to total chaos!

The President's opposition to the idea of an interim administration to run the embattled northern and eastern regions in line with a Norwegian-sponsored peace initiative is judiciously based on the likelihood of the creation of a de-facto Separate State which the Wickremasinghe Administration dispels as conjecture and speculation although opposition based intelligence sources have discovered that within the LTTE Camp there is a great deal of jubilation that the first step towards Eelam is within sight and has even been proclaimed by the various voices of the LTTE representation, one of which rather verbosely and obstreperously declared that in the event of a Prabhakarn extradition to India there would be a thousand Prabhakarans to replace him and emphasizing the degree of LTTE arrogance!

That the President has become deeply concerned about the peace process being conducted in a seemingly arbitrary manner, by passing Presidential Authority and many accepted norms of Democracy in a Constitutionalised System of Government comes as no surprise as her concerns have been greatly augmented by those of the High Buddhist Clergy as well as the more discerning National Minded Citizens of the Nation who have raised their voices in unison supportive of the President, which has also shown great opposition towards lifting the ban on the LTTE which in all wisdom has to be maintained in hindsight.
The LTTE continue to insist that the Government should lift the January 1998 ban on the group before entering political talks which are scheduled to take place in Thailand in mid-June but is a condition unacceptable to the President Kumaratunga who as Head of State has the power to scuttle the Norwegian-backed ceasefire, which went into effect from February 23 although she has maintained with great decorum an unwillingness to excercise her ultimate authority which many believe she should. Furthermore the LTTE are in no situation stipulate terms to Sri Lanka by way of sheer percentages and their instabilities displayed by the many inconsistencies of their recently concluded 'now famous' International Press Conference.

That the Prime Minister has not indicated his willingness to recognise the supremely pivotal role of the President in the Peace Process as Chief Executive Officer and Commander in Chief Of the Armed Forces of the Nation in maintaining his arch rivalry with the President, is an apathetic display of diplomacy lacking in someone of his high office and a reflection on his political acumen and savvy which is far exceeded in quality and substance by those of the President.

To add to the mish mash of political uncertainty there emerges a theory propagated by analytical futurists that Ranil Wickremasinge now has his sights set on the Presidency and believes that with LTTE backing he could depose the present Presidency and claim it for himself and a theory which is speculative and based on conjecture which nonetheless should be heeded as the rather unhealthy symbiosis which seemingly exists between the Wickremasinghe Administration and the LTTE leave little to the imagination that there is indeed a degree of collaboration between the two entities where in the past there was little love lost! Wickremasinghe has a reputation as being someone who pursues the 'Win At Any Cost Principle' and can be the ultimate danger towards a betrayal of the Sinhala Nation to its oppressors and Prabhakaran is fighting for his survival and imminent extradition to India. The Symbiosis and its need to exist becomes very visible and plausible in view of this simple equation though complicated within.

It is a time for the Sinhala Nation to be totally supportive of the President who still remains its Ultimate Bastion Of Hope who unlike all other sources pretending to be benefactors has the will and the authority to maintain Sri Lanka's Sovereignity, Territorial Integrity and Hope for the Future and without it there alway is the danger of a total alien takeover which could begin in the North and North East!
