Peace Process Sidelined By Terrorist Idealogues With Imagined Bargaining Tools!

As the morass of a messed up Peace Process continues to envelope all concerned in veiled confusion including the Wickremasinghe Administration, the Peace Monitors and the Nation in full view of a watchful world audience, the LTTE in gay abandon continue their jockeying for a position which they probably envision as being to their advantage without a semblance of reality aligned with the logic of their demands as their's is not a bargaining position but one more in line with being a last ditch effort towards their own survival which the blinkered leadership of the present regime seems to be oblivious to and is causing great concerns about what the eventualities may end up being!

The Former Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Lakshman Kadirgamar representing the PA and the President has even expressed concerns that Sri Lanka might be headed towards a Cypress like division of ethnicities should the LTTE be given any administrative rights in the North and North East in cautioning the UNF that it would be suicidal and visionless as it deals with a fully armed group of ruthless terrorists who have made no attempts to come clean in denouncing their objectives or de-commissioning their weapons with hardly a care for world opinion in this respect with their damningly arrogant attitude which seems to bypass even the precepts of simple reasoning that a Sovereign Entity is being dictated to by an illegal minority of unrelenting terrorists!

For the sake of posterity and what has been accomplished thus far it is imperative that the peace negotiations must continue although the analysts have warned of the unforeseen likelihood of a worst case scenario in a return to conflict and armed insurrection by the LTTE which could easily be sparked off according the opinions expressed recently by a notable think tank which in a similar manner to the Foreign Minister has expressed sentiments that the LTTE cannot be given any leeway towards gaining a stranglehold in the North and North East of Sri Lanka.

The remarkable arrogance and contempt by the LTTE idealogue Balasingham in the manner he chooses to address the Prime Minister of Sovereign Sri Lanka is also an indication of how easily the LTTE changes direction at the slightest disgruntlement that things are not going thair way, this after all the handshakes and monkey faced grins accompanying assurances that all's well with the Peace Process during the talks held in various locations at the taxpayer's expense which makes one wonder whether or not the dialogue towards peace has been a wasted effort albeit its primary importance towards continuity as a milling throng of over 300,000 displaced Sri Lankans continue to pour into the Nation with great expectation that the Peace Process has been successful but could be easily disillusioned in the event of a catastrophic breakdown due to disengagement as an apathetic alternative which the Foreign Minster has indicated in all wisdom and hindsight.

As has been the case since the ill conceived pull out of the LTTE from the Peace Talks indicative of dissapointment at their inability to secure a greater control of demands which would fortify their vested interests and afford finances towards their own agenda, the UNF leadership has once again downplayed the deadlock between the two entities involved in the Peace Process as a mere difference of 'words and phrases ' which has been scoffed at very correctly by the Opposition Groups as the clarity of the demands being made point towards a mechanism granting complete political and administrative control seems rather obvious and goes beyond 'Words and Phrases'.

The Ranil Wickremasinghe designed 'Development Oriented Structure' in the North and North East as an alternative to an interim administration offered to the LTTE has consequently been rejected by them as a confirmation of the worst fears of the analysts and either way is a meaningless gesture by the Goverment who should never waver from a stance demanding its rights as a Sovereignity rather than barter with a group of internationally condemned terrorists who seem to believe in their dogma of perverse intent which seems to have either bedazzled the present administration or mesmerised it in the fear of repercussions in the form of political blackmail being suggested by the present LTTE manouvres!

Until all core issues pointing towards the emergence of a terrorist free Sri Lanka have been resolved completely where the communities involved are represented by a civilian leadership non- aligned to terrorists and a greater transparency is displayed by those taking up the role of representation of the communities involved in rebuilding Sri Lanka while denouncing any objectives detrimental to the Sovereignity and Territorial Integrity of Sri Lanka there can never be a lasting peace as it would refute completely what the LTTE presently represent!

The Peace Process has currently been sidelined by the LTTE idealogues with their imagined bargaining tools which have little or no bearing on the needs of the Sinhala Nation which would be further disrupted should their demand be met without considering their real agenda and only an honest approach through sincerities and ratified acceptances of a will to renounce objectives sorted out by all mediators could really result in a favourable outcome towards an unshakeable Peace!
