President's Wisdom And The Means Towards Peace Does Not Incorporate Terrorism.

The Indian Asian News Service has reported from New Delhi that in Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunge's words "The Tamil Tigers are still trying to kill her despite signing a truce with her Government " and if this be the case, a logical question is being asked by the more discerning as to why they are given so much leeway and free access towards previously classified areas and why they are tolerated to the extent they are presently with little caution? despite the logic of the question to some which may seem easier said than done if the requirements of the Peace Agreement were used as a yardstick!

The sentiment also allegedly expressed by her in a interview with the Hindu that the so called Liberation Tigers were 'changing' and are now split into three factio,ns needs to be analysed circumspectly as to whether this is complacency on her part and a spike of tolerance and leniency she might weigh in her mind towards the mainstream LTTE and a dangerous one if this be the case knowing the track record of the LTTE towards her own existence and security where the reversible part of the equation should be, if she feels threated by the mendaciousness of the LTTE and its leadership she should make every attempt to bolster security within the nation as well as her own safety and every attempt made to eliminate their existence as terrorists where their leader Prabhakaran and his decision makers probably need to be indicted, rendered ineffective and handed over to the International Justice System which has sought them rather than palavering to their theatrics and a false quest for peace while dancing to the tunes of their falsely represented political image involving clowns such as Anton Balasingham, Thamilselvam and their Parliamentary proxy which has no real right to their seats in Parliament by virtue of the corrupt and illegal means they utilized to enter Parliament in the last elections, the Tamil National Alliance whose presence within the legislature seems somewhat of a joke!

It has also been reportesd that the President has made reference to a threeway split of the LTTE. The greatest wisdom the Nation of Sri Lanka and her President could probably elicit from the LTTE being divided into three factions is that it probably signals the light at the end of a long tunnel of expectancy as an end to the means and menace of the LTTE where the prevarications and conflicts of the three factions could probably be used to great advantage towards dismantling the LTTE proper and ridding the Nation permanently of the pestilence they are while providing all ordinary peace loving citizens of the land which includes the Tamil Community a right towards their existence within a pluralistic society unencumbered by the terrorist ambitions of the LTTE!

It has to be deemed highly commendable that the President of Sri Lanka despite very nearly losing her life at the hands of the LTTE and having lost the use of an eye, has been this conciliatory towards them in openly softening her stance towards their existence and rights which cannot be justified within any legal or constitutional means within the Republic of Sri Lanka as long as they continue to remain fully armed unrelenting terrorists.

It is a stark reality given the evidence emerging on a daily basis that LTTE attrocities and violations of the Peace Process and Ceasefire are still continuing while they also contine to utter threats against the Sinhala Nation and ironically the world continues to wage an all out war against terrorism where the equation becomes somewhat lopsided as the question can be asked logically, "to what purpose are these terrorists being given so much leeway when in fact they continue their defiance towards justifying their own existence in the pretext that the represent all of the Sri Lankan Tamil Community which is the furthest from the truth?"

Very real statistcs as of late indicate that there is a huge contingent of Tamils who do not condone Velupillai Pirapaharan (Prabhakaran) nor do they fancy being dictated to by the autocratic, self centered will of the megalomaniac that he is as they must surely be cognizant of what the future would hold for them in such a circumstance and the option of being part of a united Sri Lanka under the leadership of its majority Sinhalese and limited autonomy to a civilian Tamil representation not terrorists! the wiser and better choice despite the rantings and ravings of the LTTE supportive Tamil Diaspora whose voices may soon end up being those in a wilderness of rank misjudgement!

The President has also been quoted as expressing with some reservations that there appear to be three main factions of the LTTE not necessarily in unison with their respective idealogies. The LTTE have lost their Army 'Commander' Karuna, never to return! Navy 'Commander' Soosai on tenterhooks and are presently split into three groups with the mainstream group of Pirapaharan (Prabhakaran) maintaining a projected image of dominance and perhaps of ominous significance towards their continued existence!

In a land which has seen much communal turbulence, its leadership has shown great magnanimity towards the degree of stability of the Peace Process and Ceasefire though not a hundred percent in her words though the liberalities of previously clannish terrorists, some of whom have openly denounced their mainstream idealogues to carve a path towards their own destinies while others in terrorist garb have been made more aware of the wide world around them as frogs in a well often are yet continue to be unrelenting. Overall there appears to be a trend which signifies the probable end of an era of despondency for all peace loving citizens of Sri Lanka provided the advantages of the President's magnanimity are utilised in the proper perspective.

No one in the present atmosphere of Sri Lanka's lasting peace, least of all the LTTE should however misinterpret the President's magnanimity as a lowering of her guard or that her kindness should ever be taken as weakness in a Nation where rebuilding and healing are the key towards the future of Sri Lanka and given the consideration that far greater crises have been resolved through a compassionate response from the leadership of initial oppressors, Nelson Mandela and Gerry Adams being shining examples! the LTTE should consider their options in a similar vein if it is at all possible considering the dispositions and primitive intellectualities of their leaders towards their continued arrogance and defiance which in the long run would prove meaningless if not denounced and relented!

While there is a means towards responding to the President's wisdom there can be no circumventing the reality that Peace can only be accomplished through peaceful means and never through terrorism.
