A Conceptual Analysis Of Remedial Measures And Priorities Which If Ignored May Prove To Be Disastrous!

In a curious twist to the current Peace Process there are undercurrents which do not point towards its well being, as that age old root of all evil 'Money' seems to be the pivotal axis of the peace process turning two separate agendas, one for the Government and the other for the LTTE where the billions of US Dollars involving international donor packages seem to be dictating Government directives according to the expert analyses of certain prominent watchdogs whose observations have set off alarm bells amongst opposition parties and remedial action contemplated in order to to avoid what may turn out to be catastrophic repercussions for Sri Lanka at the hands of the LTTE already tragically etched in blood in the Island Nation's recent history.

There is an unmistakable indication that this current trend could have a double indemnity where the greed of the power hungry direction of the Government might pre-empt the need to establish a lasting peace! as the LTTE continue to forge ahead with their contingency plans under the neglect of the Administration to contain them as on one hand the pretences of the LTTE to go along with Government initiatives appear to be well concealed as they build up their reserves and resources while Ranil Wickremasinghe and his administration on the other hand appear to have commenced 'Fiddling' even before the Nation has started to burn!.

Since the Peace Process was established some 14 months ago when there were pleasing indications of its speculated success and the warm embraces and handclasps were totally but perhaps superficially in order there is reason enough to believe that the Government has set its priorities in going after the International Aid Packages of astronomical dollar value with little regard towards maintaining its status quo of being in total control of the administrative and security set up of Sri Lanka and that the LTTE taking full advantage of the Government's visionary ambits relative to the amassing of foreign funds have embarked on a campaign of fortifying their reserves and strengthening their armaments as the blind eye turned on their activities while their focus is elsewhere becomes an alarming reality and great cover for their activities.

The indications that the LTTE have acquired the expertise of subterfuge and deception towards pursuing their ambitions of a separate homeland, ( thought to be a thing of the past ) has suddenly become a gnawing enigma to Sri Lanka as their posturings towards autonomy based on a federal system of Government which would also incorporate them according to the precepts of the Peace Talks but appears to be a mere cover for their real agenda which may be sprung upon an all trusting Administration at a time least expected and opportune for the LTTE with cataclysmic results for Sri Lanka.

In the simplest of terms and as a result of the present trend if the unthinkable happens and the Sri Lankan Administration is caught napping, there is every likelihood that the predominantly Sinhala Nation by virtue of the Governments inability to foresee an impending disaster at the hands of the LTTE will once again be subjugated to their attrocities and humiliated regardless of assuarances and pledges of support by the outside world and it is upto the Government and all National Parties to rally round this threat and eliminate it permanently from within Sri Lanka and not compromise Sovereignity and Territorial Integrity for the sake of being involved with the Aid Packages to a point where the greater priority is shelved. Then is also a likelihood that the intended Aid may well be withdrawn by the donors should there be incriminating evidence of the Government's attitude relative to its mixed up priorities and a double whammy!

Aid rescinded, raids resumed! attested to by realities involving fact finding through monitored LTTE activities during the entire duration of the Peace Process and M o U since inception which indicate beyond reasonable doubt that they are continuing to import weapons in vast quantities using their own shipping lines and they have been involved in many violent incidents on the high seas and Sri Lankan Territorial Waters in the last few months, with three outstanding incidents specifically, which have proved their intentions despite their denials.

One need look no further than the goings on presently in Mutur in the Eastern Province to confirm through the blatant attacks motivated and facilitated by the LTTE on the Muslim Community and all their illegal activities combined in parts that region violating the Peace Process and the Memorandum of Understanding that peace as envisioned by Sri Lanka in its definitive sense is not what the LTTE have made it out to be!

Therefore there is much undisputable evidence indicating that the LTTE is maintaining and indeed building up its military might at a time when it is supposedly pursuing peace.Fundamentally being laid at risk once again are the many areas of the Sinhalese population which have suddenly become vulnerable through neglect and conciliatory moves to the LTTE by the Goverment , also known as playing into LTTE hands and acquiescing to their many demands where they creep further into previously secured areas, the Military demarcation lines pushed further into recession, recognition of sea tigers and Lines of Demarcation requested and their manouvering extending into the hill country populated by Estate Labour of predominantly Tamils where the warm handshakes and embraces of the peace overtures could evaporate at a moments notice!

Should the endemic political corruption which has plagued Sri Lanka for almost the entirety of its political history be wiped out and the Peace Process revamped to take on an air of Majority Sinhala Superiority by honest politicians and an astute President determined to be unvavering in the face of all odds, there may be reason to hope that there will be a lasting peace within the land where immediate preventive and remedial action is needed to dismantle and disband all further LTTE inroads indicating intentions of disrupting the Nation's security taken without hesitation or compromise which then will surely be the order of the day and restore much administrative credibility in a already restless Nation.

As a worst case scenario the inevitable alternative could result in 18% of the Population taking control of 60% of territory and slave driving the majority. It is however very unlikely that the patriotic lion hearts of Sri Lanka comprising of its majority Sinhalese will stand by and watch this transformation ! The key now towards Sri Lanka's Political and Economic future lies in honest politics and stringent law enforcement while showing the LTTE whose in charge!
