BETRAYAL BY THE TAMILS

Reference to the letter titled "National Unity-Call of The Hour", whilst I endorse the views expressed by the writer, I would like to add the following.

We need to go back to the era of the Suriamal Campaign, where a group of young educated radicals with Marxist Ideologies set forth on a Political Agenda of which "Parity" was one of the prime issues. The Left movement comprised of educated and eminent Sri Lankans like, Dr. S.A. Wickremasinghe, Philip Gunawardena, Dr. N.M. Perera, Dr.Colvin R. de Silva, Leslie & Vivian Gunawardena, Edmund Samarakody, Robert Gunawardena, Dr. Lorenz Perera, Bernard Soysa, to name a few, who fought for the rights of the Tamil People and the working class in Sri Lanka. History proves the Betrayal by the Tamil people themselves has encompassed them in their present dilemma and has brought Sri Lanka to this .

The Federal Party and other Tamil Parties, who has representation in the Parliament, are mere hirelings of the Tamil Tiger Terrorist, the LTTE. They condone all acts of Terrorism, destruction, abducting of young Tamil children and their conscription by the LTTE as child soldiers and all other acts of violence enacted by the Tamil Tiger Terrorists.

What is the stance taken by the United National Party and its leader, Ranil Wickremasinge in wiping out terrorism? Except for being very quick off the blocks to denounce any act of Terrorism, have they drummed up any concerted efforts to harness support from other parties and the nation as a whole to fight terrorism, with an ultimate goal of eradicating it? No Sir, Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe is only interested in coming into power by any devious means, for which he is willing to cut a deal, not only with the LTTE, but with the Devil himself. The recent demonstrations by the UNP against the government is ample evidence in which direction the UNP is moving with its present leadership. A change of leadership in the UNP could well usher in a new line of Thinking

Peace Talks with the Tamil Tiger Terrorists should be flushed down. What happened to the Thimpu peace talks, Peace accord between India & Sri Lanka, The IPKF, President Premadasa giving Truck Loads of arms and ammunition to the LTTE, The Norwegian involvement and other efforts made to bring about peace and stability in our Little Island Nation ? What we have achieved is only Death & Destruction, which is slowly but surely bleeding our country to death.

We should ask ourselves the question, "What can we do to force the Politicians to join hands to fight a common enemy" We can all be "Armchair Philosophers" and come up with various theories, which will eventually fade away into oblivion. What we need is a strong leadership, who will be able to harness the support of the entire nation to fight the Tamil Tiger Terrorists till they are totally vanquished from the face of the earth. This is not an easy task, it requires the support of other countries, highly motivated and disciplined armed forces, of which their Commanders should be totally dedicated, Politicians of caliber, joint Religious front, and the masses. Towards this end, we as responsible citizens should take every possible opportunity to propagate awareness amongst the rest of the citizens and force politicians to heed to the Greatest Demand the Nation is Crying Out For "Annihilation of Tamil Tiger Rebels". If Pol Pot of Cambodia could have been annihilated, who is Prabahkaran? A blood thirsty barbarian.

Politicians of low virtue and without an iota of intelligence, who depend upon Civil Servants to formulate and action projects etc. who are only interested in the well being of themselves and their families, who thrive on the tax payers money, the hard earned foreign exchange sent by expatriates working in the Gulf Region, who take large bribes and kick backs from wheeler dealing, who have absolutely no patriotism towards the country, should be exposed and discarded. Political Parties should field candidates who are educated, patriotic and who will be of service to the Nation. Today many of the Parliamentarians who grace the august chambers of the House of Representatives are of dubious character with links to the Tamil Tiger Terrorists and underworld gangs.

In conclusion I appeal to all Sri Lankans who are genuinely interested in the annihilation of Tamil Tiger Terrorists and make Sri Lanka "The Beautiful Paradise Island Nation in The Indian Ocean", as what it was once, to join forces and propagate awareness at every given opportunity. Let us move forward with one Glorious Goal in our minds, to bring back the glory Sri Lanka had in the past. Let not the generations to come, curse us for not doing what we could have done for them to live in peace and harmony, as one nation, devoid of ethnic or religious barriers.

May God give us the strength, courage and wisdom to achieve our Goal
