SIHALA URUMAYA President appeals to you

119/3, Ven Palpola Sri Vipassi Mawatha,

Colombo 08

Friends,

I find it easy to make an appeal for your support for SIHALA URUMAYA but I find it very difficult to talk about myself. I do however realise that as the President of the SIHALA URUMAYA and as a candidate of the party, I must say something about myself.

I am a Lawyer by profession. I received my education at St. Thomas College, Mt. Lavinia. My family has a long and abiding commitment to our Motherland and in upholding the highest standards. My parents taught me very early in life to stand up for whatever is right, whatever the consequences may be.

Politics was the last thing I wanted in life. I have however observed from the ringside the total and complete betrayal of the Sinhala people first by the UNP and then by the PA.

I have watched with mounting dismay the disgusting manner which the UNP and PA turn a blind eye to the rights, needs and the aspirations of the Sinhalese because they believe that the Sinhalese are traditionally divided between those two parties and the key to power is in the hands of the minorities whom they have wooed and continue to woo with abject servility. I have watched with equal dismay how the malignant cancer of corruption and sycophancy have corroded almost every organ of the body politic and how standards are fast becoming a fragrant memory of a bygone age.

It was these circumstances that gave birth to SIHALA URUMAYA, as a National necessity. I believe that it is only SIHALA URUMAYA, which has the capacity and the commitment to pull our Motherland from the morass in which she finds herself.

I solicit your support for SIHALA URUMAYA, not for the sake of gaining power or position but for the purpose of leading our country back to the fertile and sunlit field of decency and good governance.

I am aware that some of you may not be a voter/voters in the Colombo District or for that matter be eligible to vote in Sri Lanka, but I earnestly request you to extend my appeal to your kith and kin who are eligible voters, to mark their vote against our Party symbol, the Bow and Arrow, and a cross against number 21.

Yours sincerely,

S.L. Gunasekara,

President, SIHALA URUMAYA
