Is Dr. Jayalath Jayawardene a Sri Lankan M.P?By A.A.M.Nizam, MataraWe condemn and deplore Karunanidhi, Vaiko, Dr. Ramadas and their ilk in Tamil Nadu and Ministers like George Fernandes in the Indian cabinet, for their undesired overt and covert support and assistance to the ruthless tiger terrorists. Recently we accursed the Canadian Ministers Paul Martin and Maria Minna for attending a fund raising dinner hosted by the terrorist outfit FACT, and even demanded the Canadian government and the people to punish them. We reproach the BBC and other media channels for the misinformation and distortion of facts they propagate on behalf of the terrorists. We blame the western governments for their inaction to curb the flow of funds to the terrorists' war chest and to muzzle the activities of the terrorist outfits in their countries. Thousands of our valiant soldiers in their prime youth have sacrificed their precious life to save the nation from the terrorist onslaught to dissect the country. Their untimely death have made many innocent girls widowed, children orphaned, and parents childless. Several thousands, including women and children, have perished all over the country due to horrendous bombings and massacres carried out by these terrorists. People are suffering intolerable hardships purely for the sake of affection they cherish for the country, which they crave to save at any cost. As things are so, how can we expect the UNP national list MP Dr. Jayalath Jayawardene, a member of the legislature responsible for upholding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our nation, purportedly attend and address the International Eelam Conference in Canada., a forum held for espousing the illegitimate cause of dismemberment of our nation, and justify the savage and brutal destruction and killings perpetrated by the tiger terrorists? He is also reported to be occasionally speaking to Terrorist radio services, which are carrying on a relentless propaganda war against Sri Lanka. How can we condemn the Canadian Ministers when one of our own MPs, that is also from the non-Tamil community, shamelessly attend a similar gathering in Canada itself. What is the great passion Dr. Jayalath has for Tiger terrorists? What was he trying to achieve by appeasing the terrorists who are wholly committed to destroy our nation and the people. Certainly as an individual he is not even worth a cent for the terrorists, as they do not have any value for human beings, but his position as a Sri Lankan MP is what they care for. They have tactfully used him to ridicule and negate all opposition to their activities, and boast that even Sinhala MPs support them and attend their conferences. Verily the Tamil Parliamentarians have not been so daring in supporting the terrorists even within the chamber of Parliament, although some of them probably may have some sympathy towards them. I understand that normally when a Parliamentarian visits abroad, he gets the consent of the party leader or the party organisation for such a visit. If it is true, and if such a norm is prevalent in the UNP, has the UNP
or Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe, as leader of the party given consent to Dr.
Jayalath Jayawardene for this treacherous Canadian visit. If he has undertaken
this visit without such formalities and uninformed, will the UNP take
disciplinary action against this MP for his betrayal of party principals
and indulging in an anti-national activity. How can the nation tolerate
an individual, who being a Member of Parliament, dare to support the horrendous
tiger terrorists openly. No country will allow its Parliamentarians to
support those who wage war against it. People, especially who are in the
capital, are living in continuous panic due to frequent news of possible
infiltration by suicide cadres of tiger terrorists. ----------------------- This refers to a letter from "an employee at a Kenyan Ministry" published in your website. At the very beginning I would like to emphatically point out that this letter is not to back or praise Mr. De Mel or his political somersaults. It is only to point out that Mr. De Mel was not the Finance Minister in Prime Minister Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike's government in 1976. He was an ordinary MP from 1970 - 1977, and became Finance Minister only in Mr. J.R.Jayawardene's Government in 1977. |
