I have seen your web quoting Indian papers as stating that the PA has a huge support at the forth coming election. India would like PA being re-elected as in fact RAW has it's agent Vartharajah Perumal on PA's National List. How ever as far as the true situation is concerned the general public of the country are fed up with both PA & UNP. From the true surveys carried out, it seems that there is wide support for parties such as JVP and Sihala Urumaya
I was trying to make a peaceful living in SriLanka from 1996 to 1999 by farming two lands, one 50 Acre block in Ulhitiya and the other at Palmerston,Lindula of 7 Acres. Most of the time I was at up-country land, which is situated in Malaya-nadu of “Great Thondaman”.
Story No.1;
In 1998, an aquantence of mine, one son in law of a reputed real estate tycoon in Kurunegala, came to know a certain part of a Tea Estate on Gampola-Nuwara-Eliya road was for sale. He went with his father in law to see the estate. They went to a big bungalow and spoke to the owner. As they got down from the car and inquired about the land, the owner’s first word was that “We don’t sell our lands to Sinhalese. You get lost!”. Do you know who this big man was? None other than a Saumyamoorthi Thondaman- junior. This is a true stoty I can prove. Isn’t he another Tamil Tiger? Today our noble Sinhalese leaders are sleeping with them. I know this story because they visited me from there, to see my land too. (Whichever party comes to power they are Cabinet Ministers. It is not a surprice, that, Varadaraja Perumal too is going to be another cabinet minister.)
Story No.2;
During the limited over Cricket match between Sri Lanka and India in Colombo, India finally won the match. That is not my story, what matters was after that. From my land I could see Nanu-Oya area to the north and Talawakelle town to the south. The whole area erupted with the noice of fire crackers, which I have not heard even during Sinhala-Tamil New year day. Can you see the level of allegiance of UP-COUNTRY TAMILS to Sri Lanka? See the plight of our nation. Thanks to Dr.N.M.PERERA Thondaman became a Sri Lankan citizen and today they are our masters in the Up-Country.
The only solution for Sri Lanka is like in Pakistan for the armed forces to take over for a period of time. With luck we might end up with a non-politician who will think of the country first. At least it will greatly curtail the funds spent on the inefficient, wasteful gravy train of a parliamentary system we have now. In Sri Lanka democracy is only by name, where a few families with their goons and lackeys have always ruled. Most ordinary people ( 90% of the population) are nonentities - only numbers in elections. In most western countries when politicians fail, they resign and go to do other things. In Sri Lanks Politicians who have failed us since independence, under one pretext or another, are still failing us today.
