The sentry was then heard on intercepted radio communications calling the LTTE command centre for reinforcements. The LTTE responded with mortar fire which fell within the conflict zone. Around 250 were injured or killed due a combination of fire opened by LTTE sentry and mortar fire. However, more than 750 managed to make it out to safety.

The doctors in the conflict zone were heard on intercepted communications saying that they had no facilities to treat the badly wounded numbering about 250.

The incident was widely reported in the international news media which quotes a website well known as a Tiger disinformation outlet accusing the government forces of killing civilians. A health official who is in the Tiger controlled area was quoted by the BBC as having said that so far 378 civilian have been killed by shelling from the Sri Lankan army. Sources in Colombo said that the health official is in no position to give an independent account as he is virtually another captive of the Tigers.

  1. Gabriel Says:

I am quite concerned with the activities of Mr Milliband his continual verbal barrage against the Sri Lankan Government is appearing more sinister every time he makes a comment. What could possibly be driving such a person to be doing what he does, it certainly isn’t any concern for the trapped tamils that is now pretty obvious from his press statements. It doesn’t leave us much choice other than to accuse him of collaborating with terrorist and I sincerely hope he isn’t doing that. I do believe that the British Government along with the US Government has a bigger interest in what happens in Sri lanka especially now the Chinese have become donors and investors in Sri Lanka. This is probably the major concern of Milliband and Britain if they can assist the LTTE in creating their own country then they too can have an influence on how things progress in that region by setting up their own base as a pretense to protecting the tamil populace.
The Sri Lankan Government is not alone it has great support amongst other nations. New Zealand Maori are great supporters of the Sri Lankan Operations in the North and wish the President and the People of Sri Lanka all the best in their endeavours to create a united Sri Lanka free from terrorism. Kia Kaha, Kia Toa Kia Manawanui mo o Koutou kaupapa mo apopo. “Be Strong, Be Determined, Be United in your visions for tomorrow”
