AHMADIYYA MUSLIM JAMA’AT – SRI LANKA

To mark the closing event of the celebrations of the Centenary of Ahmadiyya Khilafat (Re-Establishment of Spiritual Leadership) the three day (25th, 26th and 27th May 2009) International Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community concluded yesterday at Qadian, Punjab, India.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad concluded the Convention by addressing the Convention from London via satellite link and spoke of the need to understand the true purpose of the Convention which was to become closer to God Almighty.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Thousands of Ahmadi Muslims were attending convention in which Religious scholars from the Community delivered speeches on various topics. The Convention was attended by number of non-Muslims who represent various faiths. The proceedings of the Convention were telecast LIVE from MTA (Muslim TV Ahmadiyya International) – a Free satellite TV Channel.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ His Holiness pointed out the increased hostility faced by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in various countries throughout the world. And the root cause of which he said, was jealousy due to the success of the Ahmadiyya Community. He said:

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ “Today through God’s Grace the number people joining the Jamaat in Europe and America is slowly increasing. In Africa each year hundreds of thousands of people are converting to Ahmadiyyat. In African countries, Christians in great numbers are joining the fold of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and are calling unto others the Oneness of God. Furthermore, if we look at the Arab world there too God has made the wind blow in our direction”

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Concluding his address, His Holiness said that exactly one year previously he had taken a special oath from Ahmadis worldwide in which they had promised to spread the true message of Islam to the ends of the earth and to obey and protect the institution of Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya. He said that any Ahmadi who had acted upon these words could never be harmed by the evil intentions of opponents of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Qadian is the birth-place of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community – the Promised Messiah and Imam-al-Mahdi.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Annual Convention in Qadian was purposely held on a smaller scale this year due to the continued instability in the region. Thus the attendance was much smaller than in previous years for example in 2005 when over 70,000 people attended.
