CANADIAN MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT DEPORTED FROM SRI LANKA

A Canadian Member of Parliament who has been making pro-Tamil Tiger speeches and acting against the national interests of Sri Lanka, was stopped at the Colombo International Airport , barred from entering Sri Lanka and was forced to return home, Sri Lankan sources said.

The Canadian MP Bob Rae, who belongs to the allegedly LTTE supportive Canadian Liberal Party who are in the Opposition now was alleged of acting “against the interests” of the government of Sri Lanka. He was traveling to Sri Lanka on a visitor visa.

P.B. Abeykoon Sri Lanka’s Chief Immigration Controller told newsmen in Colombo that the intelligence reports had been issued adversely against Bob Rae.

Abeykoon giving reasons for the adverse reports said they included , pro-LTTE activities and other issues. He was deported from Sri Lanka , Wednesday June 10.

The Chief immigration officer said the intelligence reports also had the recommendation that he was not desirable in the country. Rae, a MP from the City of Toronto , where most of the pro-LTTE Tamils live, had been also involved in a campaign oust Sri Lanka from the Commonwealth.

Sri Lankan sources in Canada said he was one politician who was spreading the falsehood that the Sri Lankan forces killed 20,000 civilians.
