ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-A senior QueenƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Counsel from the GrayƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Inn will be leading the team,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ he said before leaving for further consultations with them from the Sri Lanka High Commission in Hyde Park Gardens, London, yesterday.

The Attorney General was in London to have consultations with the lawyers before filing an application with a statutory body seeking amends and retracts of a controversial video the financially tottering television channel had broadcast.

The video depicting an extrajudicial killing was claimed to be an unauthenticated one by the Channel but still they identified the killer as a Sri Lanka Army soldier. Although two independent analysis have been submitted proving the video footage was a fake the TV station failed to ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ retract or amend or apologize for broadcasting it.

Mohan Peiris said the station has broadcast it violating the fundamental principles of journalism of checking for accuracy and contravening all established principles of journalistic ethics.

The analysis of laboratories said, the background human voices of Sinhalese language, the colour denoting blood, gun fire heard in the background have all been later introduced into the video footage. One report said the army clothes worn by the killer is completely different from the clothes worn by Sri Lanka Army. When the videos were run at a slower speed one of the supposed corpses raised its leg, one report said.
