SRI LANKA POLICE IS SEEKING TO ARREST LEADING LTTE FIGURE GIRI ALIAS GIRIDARAN WANTED FOR A SERIES OF TERRORIST ACTIVITIES

Sri Lanka police is on the look out for a leading Tamil Tiger rebel called Giri who is believed to be roaming around the Capital city of Colombo.

The police have provided a hot line phone number to report on him if anyone knows his whereabouts.

The Police intelligence during the last few days have successfully traced five female suicide bombers , with explosives etc near Vavuniya. One of the first two whose houses were surrounded committed suicide by biting a vial of cyanide.

The last three provided information about others.

Defense authorities are also engaged in screening about 20,000 LTTE combatants who are in the government welfare centers.

LTTE foreign sources have said from time to time that they would use certain outfit elements once again to destabilize the country.

According to police information the LTTE suspect, Giridaran alias Giri is a man wanted for a series of terrorist activities in the country. Police said he is five feet four inches tall and frequents Mount Lavinia, Dehiwala, Wellawatte and Bambalapitiya.
