This was when they were forcibly evicted (ethnic cleansing is such an inadequate term) with only the clothes on their back from the northen province. Previous to this the Muslims have had to beg the king in Kandy, when they were made homeless by the Portugese from places like Mattakuliya and had to be resettled in Mattakalapuwa, from where they spread to other areas. Of the two, the Portugese seem to have behaved better, but Hakeem the ingrate has yet to thank them, though he has shown his appreciation to the Tamil Terrorists.
