As you may be well aware Heart disease is on the increase rather relentlessly in Sri Lanka just as it is in the entire Southern Asian region.

The preventative and therapeutic applications that have proven to be effective amongst the White Caucasians seem not to work as well in the Sri Lankans living in all corners of world.

Our people seem to suffer from a more aggressive form of the disease and succumb to it at a much younger age.

This is threatening an entire generation of productive Sri Lankans that remains to be the very engine that is driving our nation forward.

In the attached article published in the current issue of the Singapore Medical Journal i have identified and described for the first time, Heart Disease in the Asian Indian as a separate medical condition to that which has been described traditionally (based on the research done in the Caucasians in the West). And hence there is a need for more focused research and comprehensive studies to unravel the mysteries surrounding the development and the clinical course of this condition.

Awareness building at all levels is a critical factor in the process of developing the means of containing this epidemic and to achieve this end i would appreciate your giving the required exposure to this in your news network and the website.

Warm Regards,
