Admiral Sarath Weerasekera contesting for the parliament seat from Digamadulla district

Admiral Sarath Weerasekera, after successful completion of his duties as the Director General of the Sri Lanka Civil Defence Force has decided to enter politics and will contest for the parliament seat from Digamadulla district.
Admiral Weerasekera served our country for 35 years as a Naval officer and acted as the chief of staff before retiring from the navy.
Rear Admiral Weerasekera effected many changes in the Civil Defence Force (CDF) after he was appointed as the Director General of the Civil Defence Force by defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse. He took the challenge of converting the CDF as a respected and viable Defence Force in the country by introducing various programs.
CDF played a major role in defeating the LTTE and uniting the country. AdmiralƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s decision to enter the election fray in April follows a request from President Mahinda Rajapakse.
