They have no ” Ethics” or “Business”

A fortnight ago, I was directed to the following website byƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Ada Derana.

I did want to write a long comment to them, but after second thought I decided to not to say anything that would have portrait me as an arrogant ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-SinghaleseƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ by the Ethical Corporation of London.

EU, finally did it.

I still wander what does EU want at this moment? Do they want voters to vote for UNP? Do they wantƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the government to hunt for and hand over the war criminals to EU?(even UN general secretary dropped that idea). Are they going to re-instate GSP+ if Ranil wins the election with two third majority and get rid of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ MR?

We do not have war criminals. It is them who have committed war crimes. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ England, is now a major player in the EU blocked the UN from investigating into the crimes against humanity by General Pinochet of Chillie in 1970s(because they were involved). France has a large population of Tamils who have supported the LTTE, who were killing innocent people all over the country.

The worst kind of war crimes, within last decade were committed byƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  team led by US and England.

They decided to go ahead with the Iraq war, in spite of the objections by the UN, putting then general secretary, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Kofi Annan in an embarrassing position. France did speak against this war, but did not push hard at the UN.

They used their Aerospace superiority to destroy Iraqi cities, dropping powerful bombs in residential areas, where hundreds of thousands of civilians were killed and many more displaced, some carrying traumatised children, with nowhere to hide.

Iraqi refugees, now pose ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-the fastest-growing displacement crisis in the world”, according to Amnesty International.

We only wanted to bring back peace to Sri Lanka, by getting rid of the terrorist, who committed all ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ types of illegal and inhumane activities for 30 long years. Our Air Force did not go and drop bombs on civilianƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s houses. After the war army went out of the way to help Tamil civilians. The government had to spend large some of money to clean up the land mines set by the Tamil Terrorist. With all the economic problems the Government is resettling the refugees well. Iraqi refugees are not so lucky, although the perpetrators who are supposed to helpthe Iraqi refugees, are highly developed and they donƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t have to spend time or money to develop their economy. They only have to manage them.

All non alignƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  nations should carry out a campaign against the war crimes caused by the big powers, during the Iraqi war(invasion of Iraq itself was a crime) and convince the Japanese government what is right and wrong and get their support and bring them to international war crime tribunal.

In any case the EU and America will some day in the future withdraw from the UN and concentrate on NATO.

Rajapaksha Chintana, won the war against terrorist without their support(I mean while EU was ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ supporting the LTTE Terrorist), made it possible for people of the entire Sri Lanka TO LIVE WITHOUT FEAR . I firmly believe that they(with the help of Central Bank), will come out with a good solutionto face, any crisis that can be caused by the loss of GSP+. In any case now it will be easier to develop the country and even for private businesses to improve their businesses.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The garment industry(replacing other local industries) in the free trade zones were the brain child of JR Jayawardena and Upali Wijewardane(please correct me if I am wrong). This kind of economy has never helped the Philippine economy, culture or the people in the long run, not to mention that our nation had a pride that they did not have. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Around 1980 Fr. Tissa Balasuriya, in his documentary to BBC2 predicted the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-evilƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ side of this. According to the Rev. Balasuriya, this shows the inefficiency of the government, who cannot solve the unemployment problem, giving reins to foreign companies, which in the long run is not a wise thing to do.

Clothing industry(Rag Trade) was moved out from developed countries, not because they wanted to give jobs to our girls, but it was much more profitable , than doing it them-selves. It is cheaper for the governments to pay their workers unemployment benefits and collect taxes from the companies importing finished clothes back from a developing country. Sri Lanka provided high quality products that European people will like to pick when they go shopping.

Whether they remove GSP+ or not, we will be losing garment industry slowly because the American owners are looking for cheaper labour markets in places like Bangal Desh, remote parts of India and in Vietnam. They believe that Sri Lankan labour is not cheap any more. All these companies are here to make profits. They are not agencies dispersing economic aid to developing countries.

We, the Sri Lankan people must give the whole hearted support to the HR government to solve any problems created by this ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-GSP+, by been patient.

I agree with your analysis of the past. But I’m a Sinhalese who is worried that none of the political parties that are likely to get representation in Parliament shows any desire to work at a long term solution to the ethnic problem.

Also, the incresing militarisation of the country, dominance by an oligarchy (or do we call it family dictatorship), such things are worrying.

In this inter-dependent world, others will be concerned about what’s happening here. But they may be incapable of analysing the situation, and thus they may impose counter-productive sanctions.

But really, the onus is on us to do something about our own problem. At least take time off to THINK before voting.

Geethal, you can call whatever you want – family dictatorship is not a problem and it is a solution. If Gotabaya was not appointed to the defence sectretary postion, things would have been different. Just imagine without Gotabaya what SF would have done to win the war. He had already betrayed the country and his own army colleagues – so what’s wrong with family dictatorship – Even in the kings in the ancient kingdom, the king appoint the most faithful close relative or any colse friend to the most important positions in his army. Do you know where SF was in 11th -27t May 2009 during the crucial battle against LTTE in Mullativu – he was having a luxury holiday in China with his family (with Danuna Hora). SF, Ranil, JVP jokers, awamangala, somahansa,TNA, mano, rauf and sambandan all LTTE sympathisers who are sucking up to the west.
