Dear Sir,

Discriminatory practices of USAID

Media reports indicate that ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”U.S. Government supports IT sector employment opportunities for youth in Eastern Province (29.05.2010 – Asiantribune.com) ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Previous reports indicated ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ USA has ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ offered ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ scholarships for the Youth in the North and East As the North and the East are now occupied by Tamils, (previously the homeland of the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sinhalese and ethnically cleansed byƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Tamils ) this isƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  openƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  favoritism to Tamils and discrimination against other ethnic groups in Sri Lanka. This I feel is most unfair and displays racism, practiced y USA in their divide and rule policy in various parts of the world. Your discriminatory policies and divide and rule policies are so obvious and transparent.

Both the North and the East were previously SinhalaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  homeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  territory. Tamil racists have ethnically cleaned the North and the East of non TamilsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  by using violent means.

This is not the first time US AIDƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  discriminated against the Sinhalese. When thousands of poor SinhaleseƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  are dying of kidney disease as a consequence of consuming water contaminated with toxins, no aid is provided to the poor Sinhalese in the NCP of Sri Lanka. In contrast, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ USAID provided facilities to improve water quality for non Sinhalese, in the North and the East

A much fairer way would have been to provide scholarships ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and other aid to all poor ethnic groups on some rational basis. We are also aware that USA has been playing the divide and rule game, in many parts of the globe. For example in Iraq, USA favored kurds. In South East Asia, it favoured minorities and encouraged them to fight ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ against Communist rulers.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sadly, in every foreign country USA invaded, you used the divide and rule policy, favoring minorities. This is sad, as every human beingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  should be treated with respect and dignity , rather than usedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  asƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  tool of imperialist countries, to achieve their objectives.

I need to point out that there are many poor Sinhalese, who are marginalized, voiceless and powerless. In a recent case, a woman has thrown a child into a river to drown and kill him as she could not afford to support the child. There are many cases of poor Sinhala children scavenging dust bins for food and may cases of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ reportedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  malnutrition. The poor Sinhala marginalized people are even at a ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ more serious disadvantage than Tamils. The Tamils have rich relatives (those that went abroad as bogus refugees), NGOS, GOSL etc, where asƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  some powerless Sinhala people have no voice at all and no one to help .

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Tamils areƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  favoured by Western countries, in obtaining residency in those countries. The Tamils who obtained residency in Western countries, networked well and knew how to milk the system to get free education, medicalƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  care, housing and other benefits. All these con artists had to do was arriveƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  inƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  a country such as UK or and Canada and seek refugee status and the get a lawyer on legal aid. The case for refugee status ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ would drag on for years and in the mean time get thingsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  free. The Tamils have abused the generous system of Western countries extremely well. Unfortunately, the Tamils not only obtained free things from Western governments, they used the disposable income to support the Tamil racist terrorists in Sri Lanka as well. In short, it appears that Western governments have supported Tamil terrorists indirectly and supported Tamil terrorists directly, by turning a blind eye to their fund raising.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I sincerely hope that you end your ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ racially divisive, discriminatory practices and treat all humans in a fair and decent manner.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Yours sincerely,

Ben Silva

  1. Andare Says:

I whole heartedly agree with Ben Silva in what he writes here.

Regarding the water problem we need to do some deep water drills to check the quality of the ground water and if it is contaminated then action must be taken quickly to provide proper drinking water whether USAID helps or not. Even the plants and animals in those areas may be poisoned. The surface water also must be analyzed. The money for this project will have to be found somehow. Our people must understand how serious the predicament of the Sinhalese is in those areas. Everything must be done to uplift them and restore the land that was stolen from them by LTTE who did ethnic cleansing to remove the Sinhalese from the areas. Why is it that some Tamils can do the worst of crimes and get away with it ?
Lanka Opposition MUST co-operate with the govt. in these matters instead of squabbling over petty matters. It is high time Ranil Wickremasinghe grew up and entered the political arena as a mature politician.
