For our own good and the good of the country we must protect Rajapakses at all cost.

Piripaharan had led the Tamils throughout the world along the garden path of Elam there never was. He forced the Tamils of the North and East to sacrifice their children and loved ones to reach his illusory goal ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” Eelam. And the naive Tamils followed him through thick and thin to reach that illusion. Now that Piripaharan and company are dead and gone, Sinhalese thought Tamils would realise their miscalculation and settle for the best.

In this regard if Tamil expatriates wanted to come to Sri Lanka and help their kith and kin that live in the North and the East, it is well and good. If they donƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t, we shall not take it as the end of the world but lend a hand to those unfortunate people the way we could. We hope someday, at least some of them will understand who did what.

We know that TNA are stooges of Diaspora Tamils. We know that together with the Diaspora TNA are determined to redraw a new road map to Eelam. And we also know that the so-called International community, NGOs, INGOs, and the Christian Evangelists are determined to back them to the hilt. These nuts must understand one thing: No matter what, we nationalists shall stand together with our government to protect our country and its heroes. For no petty gain, we shall drop our vigilance and guard against the traitors and separatists. Many a Con merchants may try pose as friends, or as peace makers, but we shall identify them and expose them. We shall not give them a chance to have a foothold and con us again. The defence ministry should establish a separate intelligence unit in line with ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Shin BetƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ to identify and take these con artists to task.

During the last phase of the war, Messrs Miliband, Kushner and many other busy bodies of the so-called International Community rushed here to put those tactics of that ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”economic hitƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ man on our President. But, our President, Rajapakse already knew all this lot wanted is the LTTE terrorists to live and fight their war with us on another day. How?

Just consider this: For the last thirty years, the so-called international community knew that it is LTTE that pioneered the human bomb. Yet, they had not classified LTTE as terrorists. They called them freedom fighters. Only when Al-Qaida blew the twin towers, Westerners were compelled to list LTTE as a terrorist organisation. But they never put LTTE in par with Al-Qaida; in fact, it was nursed as a good terrorist or freedom fighter terrorist. Otherwise, how come LTTE ideologue Balasingham had his residence and office in London? More so; how come his Australian born wife travelled to LTTE bases in the North of Sri Lanka to string cyanide filled capsules round the necks of underage children openly?

Westerners have no principles; they have ulterior motives and double standards. If you want to know how vicious they could be, read ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”the economic hit manƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ by John Perkin. In it, everything has come out from the horseƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s mouth itself. In their effort to divide Sri Lanka, Westerners chose to forget even the nastiest killings by LTTE. Among tens of thousands of innocents that were killed by LTTE, Rajeev Ghandi, the Indian Prime minister and Ranasinghe Premadasa, the Sri Lankan President and Laxaman Kadiragamar, the Tamil Sri Lanka Foreign Minister, are the most well known.

The busy bodies of IC couldnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t con our President for he knew they are like many facets of the plays of ShakespeareƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Macbeth and not the real Macbeth. He knew they are presenting him with a Trojan horse. He knew; it is they that sponsored LTTE all along. If only our earlier Presidents had the brains and the backbone like Rajapakse to withstand pressure by this dirty clique, this war would have finished long long ago.

Exerting pressure on Sri Lanka Presidents by external parties to save Piripaharan is nothing new. When Piripaharan was about to meet his fate in 1987, Prime Minister Rajeev Gandhi of India had come to his rescue. First, Gandhi had shamelessly ordered Indian Air force to violate our air space and drop parippu (lentils) to Jaffna. Jayawardena, the then President hid his tail between his legs and ordered our commanders to stop the LTTE chase and get back to barracks.

And the Indians had move forward with their scheme and Piripaharan hanged on to his own plan. And JRJ became a mare spectator. For our luck, a mare fluke or action by wily JRJ had set them against each other. Piripaharan, a vicious man never forgave Gandhi for double crossing him. Soon , Piripaharan had blasted Gandhi to pieces with a suicide bomber. And the Eelamists could have never recovered from that blunder.

President Rajapakse had seen all these wiles doing dirty acts for the last thirty years. Shrewd as he is, he knew how to manage and withstand not just the international pressure but whatever come from India as well. Rajapakse even supported the Congress party of India to win its election with a strategic move. He ordered our army to withdraw heavy weapons from the theatre of war. And that simple act projected the Tamil Nadu electorate as if India is helping Piripaharan to escape. Tamil Nadu Tamils swallowed the pill and Congress party won the elections. Westerners too had bit the pill and thought India was about to save Piripaharan at long last. In the end; not just Piripaharan and his gang of terrorists lost but the entire IC and its conspirators had lost as well. Both India and Sri Lanka won.

Today, there are no bombs explode anywhere in Sri Lanka. And everyone is safe. I mean; Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and others can traverse the entire Island from north to south or east to west without fear of being blasted. The white vans and the killing of the journalists that the fear mongers talked about have disappeared from the scene. With the demise of LTTE, the paramilitary forces that they finger pointed all alone for human rights violations have vanished from the news as well.

No commander or even a bombardier had any need to kill any Tamil civilians at the theatre of war. Do the Westerners not know that more Tamils live among Sinhalese in the south than the North and the East combined? Do they not know that there is no news or reports that they are being harassed let alone killed? Come to my home town Padukka and see the truth. Suffix to say; they have no less right than to what I have.

Of cause, our forces killed the killers that tried to shoot at them; and whatƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s wrong with that? They had killed the suicide bombers that strapped bombs in their bellies and their bosoms before they explode themselves. In the end they had eradicated the entire LTTE menace. And that is it.

But we Sinhalese must understand that without Rajapakse brothers we would never have decimated Piripaharan and company and won the war. Without winning the war with LTTE, we would not have had the freedom that we enjoy today. Westerners are jealous of our achievements because they are stuck in Iraq and Afghanistan. That is why the Westerners are after RajapaksesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ blood.

The images of crimes that we see and read in the media as being taking place in those two countries are beyond comprehension of our imagination. It is to cover those atrocities that Westerners got their pet poodles (ICG) to bring about hilarious charges against Rajapakses and Sri Lanka. I say; for our own good and the good of the country we must protect Rajapakses from the hounds of the so called International Community at all cost.

Totally right Herold! Cannot agree with you more! LTTE was the only terrorist group respected by the West when no other so called banned terrorist group in India or Phillipines commanded the respect LTTE had! Why? Tamil diaspora would have bought over a few politicians like Bob Rae and David Miliband as their annual income chest is like USD 300 million. The ban on LTTE in the EU was totally decorative and ceremonial. LTTE commanded sympathy of the West because none of their suicide attacks resulted in the death of a single Western national at all unlike Laska Etaiba or AL Qaeda to Iraqi insurgents who ended up attacking Westerners.

  2. Siri Says:

Harold – you have put it very plainly. Great job. The only reason why we won against the LTTE was because the President had the support of his relatives. Outsiders cannot be trusted in key positions. Take the case of Fonseka. This man was a crook and a double agent working for the Western Powers and was prepared to hand over our President to the Western Powers for a good life in America. He is a Traitor to the Nation and should be severely dealt with if found guilty. If we go back to history of Sri Lanka the last king was betrayed by his nobles whom he trusted. It is very important to have trustworthy people for important positions. President Rajapaksa is doing a great job and should be allowed to continue his good work. The UN special commission of Cranky Boom and Navi Pillay should be black listed and not allowed entry into Sri Lanka. The NGO’s should be watched carefully and any who are found working against the country should be deported. The NGO’s are really Trojan Horses.

  3. Kit Athul Says:

Mr. Leelawardena, yes, we whole heartedly agree, that we must protect the Rajapakse family and why? Because he responds to the people who elected him. Two recent examples: NO to the one sided trade pact with India, becaude pepole protested. Next NO to police powers to Northern and Eastern Provinces and hence NO to 13th amendent. Again people protested. Did we have a president that responded like this since independence? The answer is NO. Porting historical events in the past to the present and comparing to the present is not logical and does not serve any analysis. JRJ did not have a Army, Navy or an Air Force. Remember Tamils calling , JR’s Rat Tat Army? Sinhala must now focus on Indian attempt to get a strangle hold of the SL economy. Just for your attetion; SL cannot invite a friendly Navy to Trincomalee harbor. India controls the harbor. Now India is attempting to control the Hambantotta harbor and the Air Port. Ref: Hindustan Times May 30th 2010, “India has requested permission to open a diplomatic mission in Hambantotta”. By Sutirtho Patchaboris. Why is this? There are no Tamils in Hambantotta, why open a High Commission Office? India is attempting to sabotage the construction and then take over harbor so no one can use it. I ask authors like you to publish oppositon to any Indian getting any where near Hambantotta. http://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news

Your tittle is really frightening. Actually what you meant is saving Rajapaksas (and all of us at the end) from the hounds of the so called International Community at all cost. Before going to make my critical comment, I must admit that there are worthy content in this article. However, notion that we should protect them for our own good and the good of the country has to be qualified if you meant Sinhala speaking people by “We” sentiment.

Obviously, you are talking about another bunch of politicians that you should be wary. Refer, MR Shrewd as he is, he knew how to manage and withstand not just the international pressure but whatever come from India as well. Actually some of his means were not that savoury. I wish you waited for a few more years to make your judgement. Under the same circumstances, did these politicians have any other option left? If you compare pre- and post-Mavali Ara, I do not think that there was any option left other than facing the onslaught instigated by VP according to VP’s plan (and not that of MR who was initially in a limbo when navy personnel were slaughtered). I would love to hear your would-be-opinion assuming that VP opted out of military campaign and settled down for negotiation.

Blind faith in politicians on all sides, specially the current version installed by our great English heroes that we worship day and night while claiming to be Sinhala, is a very dangerous thing. If what is happening now is any indication, everything that happened seems to sum up to zero. We won the war to end up with more problems. Obviously continuing failure of the political establishment to free up from servility and being surrounded by the same people, same ideologies and same remedies, it looks more like that we moved to another point of the same cycle. In other words, terror was left to grow and take a heavy toll because of the same type of politicians. What they are doing now is not much different to what their predecessors were doing before the said 30 year period.

I wish you read the other article “Mystery shrouds destruction of Kokilai bird sanctuary”. That also happens under the rule of the same people. There are many other things that happen behind the scenes. Obviously, every politician tries to be a populist and to go with the people to the best of their individual capacities. Gods only know what is inside their tiny brains. Obviously, you are talking of politicians who have a greater affinity to westerners and things western. Isn’t it? What surprises me is the western enmity towards Rajapaksas who are culturally bonded to western ideologies and follow the same western rules of governance. I wonder whether the words they utter have two meanings considering the measures they adopted to deliver their promises after the war victory. Our history is full of divine intervention to ensure justice to Sinhala people. Sometimes, it was like cutting pork on the back of pigs like events.

Refer Indian element, we must expect them to be what they are and double crossing is not just the norm but the edict of those believing in Hinduism. If certain recent events mean anything, they may be proving again that we are yet to learn the true nature of Indians.

You said “Many a Con merchants may try pose as friends, or as peace makers, (or patriots), but we shall identify them and expose them. “ I wish Rajapaksas are not of that group. Only time will tell. I wonder why we should bother about getting back Expatriates? If someone leaves, let them be gone. Those coming back for whatever reason need to be quarantined as they can be agents in many guises and may even carry dangerous viruses, both physical and mental. Those who gained entry to other countries by bringing disrepute to the country and its good name should be considered bloody criminals and be sent to Siberia if they ever return under whatever label.

We lost peace because of armed Tamil terrorists and we regained peace by having a Strong Security establishment. I hope it is not in vein to end up being arm-twisted by our Indian Hindu buddies. You say “But we Sinhalese must understand that without Rajapakse brothers we would never have decimated Piripaharan and company and won the war.” Unfortunately, I am increasingly feeling that Sinhala people have to lick their wounds as the beneficiaries of the victory are those migrants supporting this regime who harbour the same thought behind our backs. Time will tell more. From what I gather and what is planned for the future, I thought the local community speaking Sinhala are thousand times better of without all these politicians on both sides of politics and those who support them because, they have done nothing different to their English masters.

  5. Leelawardena Says:

Thank you, Weeraya, Siri, Kit Atul and Priyantha for taking you time to pen a comment. It is the continual pestering of our President by the so-called international community and their servile agents that prompted me to write this essay.
Over a long period of time, I have developed certain political ideals that I cherish. I realised, I cannot be the leader of this country to put those ideals in to practice. I recognise, I cannot be a king maker either. So, I have come to the conclusion that I must support the most befitting one and oppose the unsuitable. Priyantha, I think it is a divine intervention that bought Rajapakse to power. Otherwise, Sinhala Buddhists would be standing in a queue today to get their visas to go to Nagadeepa.

Policies that are listed in Mahinda Chintanaya are close enough to my political ideals. And during the first four years of President Rajapakse’s rule; he has done what was considered an impossible – wipe out LTTE. Not just that, under most pressing circumstances he has miraculously kept the economy moving. He has laid the foundation for the infrastructure that was thoroughly neglected during the eleven years rule of the Bandit Queen. Even in that aspect, I believe, MR has exceeded what JRJ had done in eleven years. These are the other reasons why we should look after Rajapakses.

MR may have his short comings, he may not be perfect in every aspect, but what he had done so far is enough to show what is to come in the next six years. Emergency cannot last for long. Everything has to be open than before. Corruption cannot continue to be kept under the carpet. I have a feeling that Rajapakses will usher this country to grater height in a new direction.
