The International “Statesmen” Kofi Annan, Mandela, Tutu and Jimmy Carter, the latest hirelings of the LTTE Diaspora

By Dr Garvin Karunaratne, formerly of the SLAS

Kofi Annan the former Secretary General of the United Nations, Nelson Mandela the Noble Prize Winner and former President of South Africa, Desmond Tutu, also a Nobel Prize Winner andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the Archibishop of South Africa and former US President of the USA, Jimmy Carter have raised their voice in support of the United NationsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ investigation into the supposed atrocities committed by the Sri Lankan Government in annihilating the terrorist LTTE from Sri Lanka.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They have together accused the Sri Lankan Government ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-marginalizingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the ethnic minority TamilsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. They do not know that it was the Government of Sri Lanka that liberated the Tamils that the LTTE had incarcerated in the North and the East for close upon three decades.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They fail to understand that the vast majority of the Tamils living in Sri Lanka were living happily amongst the Sinhala people, enjoying all the priviledges that the entire population enjoyed.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  All this while the Tamils that lived in the LTTE areas were actually incarcerated by Prabhakaran at the point of the gun to do his bidding.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They fail to understand that Prabhakaran, the leader of the LTTE was a fascist who ruled with the bullet and murdered anyone that disagreed with his rule. Any person that participated in any election was mercilessly punished. In one election he had cut off the hand of aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Tamil gentleman that voted at a parliamentary election held by the Government.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Prabhakaran compelled parents to hand over their children to be suicide bombers for the LTTE and parents who disagreed were put to death. His killing fields were in the whole of Sri Lanka- he killed over 200 priests and civiliansƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  who were worshipping at the Sri Maha Bo TreeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  at Anuradhapura. He killed two Tamil Mayors of Jaffna and Rajiv Gandhi former Prime Minister of India andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  President Premadasa of Sri Lanka and more ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” it is an endless litany of sorrow and mayhem. It will be good for democrats like President Jimmy Carter, Kofi Annan, Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela to come to know these facts and to realize the fact that actually the citizens of Sri Lanka comprising of Sinhala, Muslims and Tamils were liberated fromƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the monster Prabhakaran by the Government of Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They all should realize that the Government of Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  had a mandate from the country at a democratically held election to rid the country of the terrorist LTTE.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They accuse the Sri Lankan Government as ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-guilty of a clampdown on domestic criticsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. It will be of interest for these critics to know that the newspapers are replete with articles against the Government and very critical of the Hon President, the very President that liberated the country and all its citizens from terrorism.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They also forget that there are skeletons in their own cupboards which discredit theirƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  statements. The weight that they hoped will gather to the International CommunityƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s call now weighs heavily on them, discrediting the record they publicly hold. .

To start with they all are talking of something they do not know. Possibly they have all seem to have become the paid hirelings of the LTTE diaspora that want the international community to punish the Sri Lankan administration for annihilating terrorism within Sri Lanka.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Why are they all silent about the atrocities that are happening in the world today- the invasion of Iraq by the USA, which has caused a human toll of around a million legitimateƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  human beings!ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Even former Federal Chair GreenspanƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  had come out into the open that the USA was wrong in the invasion of Iraq. Sadaam Hussein was not the only anti US dictator in the world. What Greenspan said was that the USA marched into Iraq because the USA wanted to control the oil resources of the Middle East and for that purpose they fabricated evidence. What a shameful record for the USA, the most powerful country in the world!.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Let us unmask these ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-StatesmenƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ who think they can add their weight to the International CommunityƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s call for investigation into atrocities perpetrated by the Sri Lankan Army.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Take Kofi Annan, the former Secretary General of the United Nations. Can anyone forget that he was the Secretary General when President George Bush was gun-ho and decided to send his forces to Iraq without any United NationsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ mandate. President Bush sought the support of Tony Blair the Prime Minister of the UK to support him and Blair acted like BushƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢sƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  poodle and sent in his forces to support the invasion. BlairƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s own Arms Inspector David Kelley the specialist who was sent to observe and investigate whether Iraq had weapons of mass destruction stated in no uncertain terms that Iraq did not have weapons of massƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  destruction. HeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  had to be silenced to enable Blair to join the US invasion of Iraq. David Kelley died very strangely- said by the Coroner to be suicide, hotly disputed by KelleyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s family members and others who accuse the British Government of assassinating him.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Kofi Annan, the First Citizen of the World, the Secretary General of the United Nations was the one authority that could and should have stopped President George Bush. Kofi Annan should have warned President Bush that he had no authority to march into Iraq without the approval of the Security Council of the United Nations. He should have mustered the entire United Nations to stop Bush. But Annan remained silent. That is how Kofi Annan failed in his duty. The carnage of almost a million deaths of civilians in IraqƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  can thus be traced to this Kofi Annan who is supposed to be a Statesman.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ That is not all. Kofi Anna can be rightly accused of bribery because he abused his powers by getting favours for his own son, Kojo Annan by a Swiss CompanyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Cotecna. Kojo Annan worked for Cotecna fromƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  1995 to 1997. This Cotecna got a $ 4.8 million Oil for Food Contract from the United Nations in September 1998 andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Kojo Anna was also paid by Cotechna till FebruaryƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  2004. In the words of an authoritative Journal:Modern Ghana(June 30, 2005) ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- Cotecna offered Kojo Annan a non compete agreement worth several hundred thousand dollars one month after it won the business to inspect goodsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  entering Iraq under the Oil for FoodƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Program. Cotecna executives had contacts with Kofi AnnanƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It was also found that Cotecna hadƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  made a payment of $ 50,000 to a Ghanian Trust that had Kojo AnnanƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  as one of its directors. Kojo Annan received payments from Coetecna until 2004( From: ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-AnnanƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s son took payments through 2004ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚:NY The Sun, 26/11/2004)

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The United NationsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  orchestrated an investigation which absolved its Secretary General Kofi Annan of complicity. However, the fact remains that his son Kojo Annan was employed by CotecnaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and Kojo Annan got financial benefit from this Cotecna, a company that got awarded a contract by the United Nations which had his own father as the Chief. It is strange that any investigation could have absolved Kofi Annan. I can make this statement without any reservation because of my experience as an administrator for over three decades in three countries.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Kofi AnnanƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s son also misused his fatherƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s name to avoid paying import duty for a mecedes benz which he imported into Ghana. Kojo Annan had ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-used false pretences in obtaining a diplomatic discountƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. Kojo Annan had got a United NationsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  official to state thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the car was for his father, making the shipment duty free saving $ 14,000 in import duties.(From: ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-AnnanƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s son to repay duty on MercedesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚: CNN.Com:25/01/2006)

TheseƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  facts indicates that the father and son worked in close contact to obtain favours and pecuniary enrichment abusing the authority that the father held as the Secretary General of the United Nations.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Kofi Anna should have actually resigned. Cotecna should not have been allowed this contract by the United Nations because it had the son of the Secretary General of the United NationsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  on its payroll.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Kofi Annan should actually hide himself in shame.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Is this the standingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  of aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  First Citizen?

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Nelson Mandela, though an acclaimed figure to the International Community has actually let down his own people at the behest of the International Community.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It looks as if Nelson Mandela had arrived at a clandestine agreement with de F.W.deClerk the White President of South Africa to enable the Whites to continue ruling South Africa.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  This accusation has come from no other than his former wife Winnie Mandela, a Minister in his own government and a vibrant member of his own political party, the African National Congress. In her words,

ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Nelson Mandela led us down. He agreed to a bad deal for the blacks. Economically we are still on the outside. The economy is very much White.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚( From :ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Winnie Mandela accuses Nelson Mandela of betraying the blacks of South AfricaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ in Mail On Line, Aug062010)

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Both Mandela and the President of South AfricaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  F.W de KlerkƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  were jointly rewarded with the Noble Peace prize,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  awarded with pomp and pageantry.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The British conquered South AfricaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  in 1795 and unleashed a reign of terror on the local population. By The Native Land Act of 1913 the ownership of land for blacks was severely restricted.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  80% of the land went to the Whites who were less than 20% of the population. In actuality 96% of the arable land was in the hands of the Whites.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Andile Mngxitama, founding member of South Africa’s Landless People’s Movement stated: The land reform programme stands on three legs: restitution, redistribution and tenure reform. Restitution, in our context, refers to a very specific process. It gives victims of land dispossession after 1913 rights to redress, ranging from the return of stolen land, being offered alternative land, or financial compensation if the land is built up. People who were dispossessed had to lodge a claim by December 1998. Our government says restitution is 90% done, but government programmes have delivered only 5% of land back to blacks since 1994. So here you have a land reform process which doesnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t redistribute land back to people. ItƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s a terrible ruse. Actually, government land-reform processes reproduce apartheid and racism. You must see what sort of compensation is forced on to hapless blacks ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” some people walk away with a mere R500 ($67) ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” but whites are compensated at market value for land they had stolen. Redistribution is actually the key programme and is based on the principle of ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”willing buyer, willing sellerƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢. This programme doesnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t recognise that land held by whites is stolen property. ItƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s part of the 1994 deal to surrender the economy to whites in exchange for political office. Basically, blacks are buying back their land with assistance and loans from government, and even then landowners sell only if they want to. Tenure reform was supposed to give people stronger tenure security, but of course since 1994, with laws that proclaim to protect farm workers, we have allowed white farmers to evict more than a million black farm workersƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. ( From:The Africa Report: Do you think that land restitution is being implemented at a desirable pace?: 23/11/2009)

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The majority of black South Africans still live without land. The roots of this inequality lie in the country’s history of colonialism and racist apartheid policies. The racially-skewed distribution of land has barely been altered in the 12 years following the birth of the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”newƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ South Africa. Despite years of ‘land reform’, 85% of the country remains under white ownership.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Meanwhile, 19 million black South Africans eke out a living on the remaining 15% of land and millions of urban black South Africans face eviction from the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”illegalƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ informal settlements that surround the cities.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Today the situation is that if the landless blacks dare protest and form a movement asking for land for the landless, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…” the Police go from door to door arresting people that protest ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-.(From ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”The Attack on the Landless PeopleƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Movement CommitteeƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ in http:ararkismo.net/article/16788)

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ IsnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t it sad that black leaders like Nelson Mandela continue to enjoy the priviledges of leadership, accept theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Nobel peace prize while their own black people live in poverty and deprivation. Mandela was expected to look after the interests of his own people but the facts are that he has actuallyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  sacrificed them.

Nelson Mandela is todayƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the mouthpiece of the International Community against the sovereign country of Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Desmond Tutu, the Archibishop of South Africa has voiced himself earlier too for the LTTE and is a close associate of Farther Emmanuel of the Tamil Diapora.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Both Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu of South Africa should realize that the Sri Lankan Government was instrumental in the adoption of the resolution against apartheidƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  at the Non Aligned Summit held in Colombo in 1976.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  This declaration condemned the racist regime in South Africa in very strong terms.. This was at the time that Nelson Mandela was incarcerated by the Whites and Winnie Mandela his wife was his lone supporter who braved the Whites to carry on the protest marches by the African National Congress that ultimately forced the Whites to accord liberation.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  And today Nelson Mandela has discarded Winny Mandela.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Both Desmond Tutu as well as Nelson Mandela should realize the current state of law and order in South Africa. The Whites have an unemployment rate of 4.1% while among the Blacks the rate is as high as 28%.There is very high unemployment among the black youth and robberies and murders are commonplace incidents. Even motorists are shot at in the major cities. This is all due to the fact that the current Government beginning with the rule of Nelson Mandela in 1994 failed to provide employment to the blacks, who form the vast majority of the population.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Both Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu are being used today as pawns by the International Community- the Superpowers. People who do not know how they sacrificed their own people do tend to think that they have credibility, but the facts disclosed in this paper indicate that they are totally discredited leaders.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Jimmy Carter,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the 39 th President of the USAƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  has been called ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-the worst democratic President of the USA in the Twentieth CenturyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Brooking Institution, one of the authoritative International Institutions in the USA calls Jimmy Carter ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- a process president, using a definition by Aareon Wildavsky and Jack Knott- means that Jimmy Carter places great emphasis on methods, procedures and instruments for making policy than on the content of the policy itselfƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚(From: ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Jimmy Carter: Why He Failed?ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Brookings Institution: August 8, 2010). Wildavsky and Knott are American Political scientists.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Naturally Jimmy Carter is called a lame duck president. He fails to sift fact from fiction and today he is a captive of the Tamil Diaspora. Probably the LTTE Diaspora has given him money in the manner they gave the Secretary of State Hilary Clinton at her election.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Jimmy Carter does not know what really happened in Sri Lanka.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Jimmy Carter and his famous organization, the Carter Center should be more concerned with the poverty in the USA today. He should be more concerned with the Native American Indians from whom the mass of US land was wrested by force of arms, two centuries ago. Instead Jimmy Carter thinks it better to police the world.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The native American Indians are living in untold poverty and deprivation. They all suffer from high levels ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  unemployment. A Study by Judith Antell et.al. for the Department of Sociology at the University of Wyoming found that in the Wind River Reservation, 38.1% were unemployed and 25% of families lived steeped in poverty. (ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Residential & Household Poverty of American Indians on the Wind River Indian ReservationƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢, 1999)

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The US Census Bureau in their Income and Poverty Statistics 2001,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  givesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the poverty rate for Alaskan American Indians at 24.5%. In every Indian Reservation the poverty and deprivation can be seen by anyone. In my travels in the USA I have seen for myself the shanties- broken down homes and wrecked automobiles,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  where the American Indians dwell. These can be easily identified. The land is uncultivable and the people have no means of income and have only to merge with the rest of the population and then get castigated and continue to live in poverty. I had a number of fellow students that came from the American Indian community when I was a post grad at Michigan State. They were all people that were scared to death- the toll that the American Forces inflicted on their grand parents is etched on their faces.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ There is high unemployment, poverty and deprivation in every American Indian Reservation.

They have suffered for over two centuries and it is time that Jimmy Carter takes a step back from his forays into lands he does not know and concentrate on his own people. That will be a task that would behove of the aims of the Carter Center. This Center is ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-committed to advancing human rights and alleviating unnecessary human suffering.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ Where are the human rights of the American Indians? They are the most suffering people perhaps in the entire WorldƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and all this in the most advanced and richest country in the World. Why cannot the Carter Center and its President Jimmy Carter take on that mantle- to alleviate the suffering of the American Indians the real owners of the Americas?

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Is it not strange that this call for the Native American Indians has to come very strangely from a researcher from the Third World.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In the words of Alan Forray:

ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Today AmericaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s children are in the worst shape they have been in for decades. They are impoverished, hungry and homeless.. nearly 13 million kids are going hungry.(From:

: Alan Forray: ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Ending Child Poverty, Hunger and Homelessness in AmericaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚in

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ (http://homelessness.suite101.com/article.cfm/child_poverty_in_america)

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The economic situation of the USA today is pathetic. There is a recession in full swing today and soup kitchens for the unemployed and the hungry are commonplace.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Unemployment is at 9.5% and the USA has lostƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  8.5 million jobsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  since the downturn commenced three years ago. In fact as much as 35.9 million people are living in poverty. The American Dream of homeownership lies in tatters with house prices falling to untold levels rendering American homeowners who cherished theirƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  homes as their coveted assets being forced to discard them because the values of their homesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  have fallen below the level of the mortgages they owe the Banks. The banks have to carry the can of the unpaid mortgages. There is no end in sight.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The financial crisis of 2007 was created by reputed Financial Institutions by their mismanaging loans- giving loans to non creditworthy people at 125% of the value intended to increase their turnovers because the bonuses that were paid to them depended on the business they created. Federal authorities relaxed their regulations and with a few insider deals that rocked the boat coupled with fraudulent mortgage grants the entire financial edifice collapsed.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Jimmy Carter had better be concerned with what is happening to the American Economy rather than waste his time on forays into areas where he has no ability to grasp. The Process President has perhaps not the ability to understand what is happening beneath his own feet.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ As has been shown the foray of the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-StatesmenƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ into waters unknown to them at the behest of unknown forces has led to their own undoing. Jimmy Carter, the Process President could worry about the crumbling American Economy, while Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela will get it back very soon from his own blacks whose future they sold to the Whites. Kofi Annan, the once First Citizen of the world will of course be able to cradle on his illegimate illgotten earnings obtainedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  through his son.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ What a sad sad world, where the sovereignty of countries is not recognized by illiterates and fraudsters who tend to think that they can fool the world with their antics.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is time that Sri Lanka realizes the motives of the International Community of Superpowers and decide to become a self reliant country.

It is time that they nominated the following to the “Elders Group” for their contribution to the world chaos and suffering.

    1. Eric Solheime – failed negotiator and proxy for CIA
    2. Tony Blair – His stand on WMDs in Iraq
    3. George W Bush – not necessary to give any credentials – everyone knows why he should be an Elder
    4. Dick Cheeney – again not necessary to say anymore!
    5. Donald Rumsfeld – knows how to lie without batting an eyelid
    6. Condoleesa Rice – WMD galore
    7. David MiliBrain – smart a$$ who thinks no end of himself

I am sure there will be many more who qualify to become Elders so that exploitation of the poor can continue and one can feel good about it at the same time. Who cares about the starving poor suckers as long as we can sit in comfortable conference rooms and talk about freedom, democracy, human rights, press freedom etc and we do need these self appointed Elders to protect this privilege.

Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu should not talk down to Sri Lanka when their own country, South Africa, is in an utter mess with regard to the so-called reconciliation they pride themselves in. Sri Lanka is in a much better state of ethnic cooperation between its various communities and has always been so despite the LTTE. For these two “Elders” to set themselves up as critics of Sri Lanka is an insult to themselves as is their self-designation as “Elders”. The White Afrikaaners still want their own territory demarcated and there is so much corruption, political violence and economic discrimination as well as social disparity and unrest, that it is mind-boggling that these 2 people have the gall and lack of sensitivity and self-consciousness to come forward and criticise Sri Lanka!
