Take Ban ki Moon before an International Tribunal for trying to bring disrepute to Sri Lanka, while ignoring evident war crimes by member states of OTAN led by America.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Ban Ki MoonƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s determination to go ahead with a panel to investigate possible war crimes by the Armed Forces ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Sri Lanka, at the final phase of its military operations against the terrorists, seems to be a personal vendetta, rather thanƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  a sincere desire to know whether there had been ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ violation of human rights. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Why does he make it a personal vendetta ?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Perhaps becauseƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  he was a party to the failed attempt of the member states of the West,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  led byƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  UK, France and Norway to save the Sri Lanka terrorist leadership.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ If Ban Ki Moon is a man capable of independent evaluation of the situation it may not have been difficult for him to first, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ differentiate ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-warƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ and ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-terrorismƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  AƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  conventional war is first declared by a country preparing to wage a war, to the country which is being targeted for the attack.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Therefore ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  enemies are recognised and their movementsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  known, andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  those who investigate could thenƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  enforce the Geneva Convention and all such gamut.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Second,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  understandƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  terrorism is different because terrorism springs forth, unannounced and they attack a country without differentiatingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the armies and civilians. Ban Ki MoonƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  knows what happened on the 11 September,2001. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The method of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the terrorists to achieve their object is to create terror, assassinate, murder, kidnap, blow up buses, trains, air ports, attack from hidden areasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  often hiding behind civilian occupied areas , taking civilians under their control through threat and fear.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The terrorists are not seen in ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ battalions , they are hiding most of the time to appear from somewhere least expected.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They plant bombs, they send their suicide carder as civilians in buses or trains to either be exploded in a crowded bus, train or a market place.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  If not they lay in waiting as ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-sleepersƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ until an order is sent for them to activate and blow themselvesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  at a given place to blow in ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-exchangeƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ a VIP.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ That is how the terrorists operate, andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  military operations toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  fight terrorism is entrappedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  with danger, specially for soldiers of an infantry who could be taken unawares, fall into ambuscades, walk into minefields, and collateral damages could hardly ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ be avoided.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  This fact seems difficult for Ban Ki MoonƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s grey matter to work out.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Ban Ki Moon has to be educated that the Sri Lanka Government forces adopted a special method to avoid possible material damage or death to Tamil civilians when they targetedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  places where terrorists were in hiding.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ This had not been the case with the coalition armies led by the Americans in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They bombedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  villages where the talibans were supposed to be hiding and attacking those areas they killed civilians.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They were continuing their bombardments unconcerned as it was for them a war against terrorists, and collateral damage to civilians were unavoidable.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It was only when complaints against civilian deaths were numerous, that UNO intervened ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to collect evidence. Having collected reliable evidence Ban Ki Moon shelved the information.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  He did not make any accusations against the coalition armies led by America.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Following is an article that appeared in a French web site , when the coalition armiesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  led by America was killing civilians in their air raids against talibans, it is in French:

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Translated it readsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ :

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Each week in Iraq, and Afghanistan, tens of civilians ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ are killed in aerial bombardments by Otan, without being really sanctioned and goes on again and ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ again. In theseƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  tragic circumstances, more than 90 Afghan civilians were killed on ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Friday 22,August, in aerial bombardments in theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  West of the country. In view of the sad repetition of these ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-collateral damages”, the ONU collected ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ convincing evidence ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  bombardmentsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  of the coalition led by the Americans ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ on the Friday22 in question, in which ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 90 civilians ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ were killed, of them 60 were children, 15men and 15 women. ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The passage quoted above shows that UNO having collected reliable evidence of the death of civiliansƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  by the bombardments of the coalition armies led by America, did nothingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to stop it or bringing it to the notice of the USA Congress( which seems to getƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  reports on Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s past military operations quite often).ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Americans and their coalition partners have a lesson to learn from the Sri Lanka Government Forces. The precise targeting in bombardment adopted by the Government Forces of Sri Lanka ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ will avoid collateral damages thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  America and its coalition partners continue to cause in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is some thing that Ban Ki Moon could recommend to America in their war against terrorism.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In the absence of suchƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- civilian safety relatedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  methodsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  military action, the American and coalition forces are killing the civilians in their bombardments, puttingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  those deaths toƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-unavoidableƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ collateral damages.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In such a ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ situation how can one stand dumb to Ban Ki MoonƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s appointing a panel to investigate the military operations of the Sri Lanka Armed Forces to investigate whether they had committed war crimes, when he has in his possession ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ evidence of war crimes against America and its coalition partners. Ban Ki Moon is doing nothing about it, but continuing to harass the Government of Sri Lanka.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Why should not the Government of Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  demand anƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  investigation intoƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the reasons why Ban Ki Moon, has not taken any action pertaining to those deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan, while appointing a panel to investigate the conduct ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the Sri Lanka Armed Forces ?

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ There had evidently been overwhelming evidence to inculpate ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ coalition governments led by America of deaths to civilians on the bombardments against Taliban terrorists .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  But Banki Moon, the Amnesty International and the Human Rights watch very vociferous about Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s anti terrorist operations are ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ observing holy silence about theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  violation of human rights and blatant killing of Civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq, by the coalition partners led by America.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ For Sri Lanka the military operations against terrorism is over. It is ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ looking ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ford to a future without terrorism, where peace is established, the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ communities are united, and the country is developed.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But for Ban Ki Moon, Amnesti International, Human Rights Watch, Eropean Union the terrorism in Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  is not over. They are carrying it in their minds, trying to save the terrorists and accuse the Government of Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  TheyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  deny Sri Lanka and its peopleƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  material help andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  moral encouragement to build unity, peace and social and economic development.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They are investigating to accuse Sri Lanka for its past activities to defeat and eliminateƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  terrorism, toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  find whetherƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s past military operations against terrorism lead to war crimes, so that they could enforce embargoes ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ against Sri Lanka, like they did to Iraq, and Cuba, to stopƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  unity among communities, stop development, and progress. So that Sri Lanka will remain poor fighting among communities without peace and development, dependent onƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  handouts from the West, in return for poor Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢sƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  material and human wealth, its strategic position in the Indian Ocean,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to be exploited by the West for their benefit.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Ban Ki MoonƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  as a consolation for Sri Lanka, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ states that the panel he has set up will investigate not only the war crimes of the Government of Sri Lanka but also those of the terrorists.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In saying thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Ban Ki Moon really takes us for fools.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Where was he and his followers the Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the EU, all the time the terrorists were massacring our people, assassination our President, Ministers of Governments, Police Officers Army Commanders ?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is then they should have voiced their disagreements, and anger against the terrorists , not now when every thing is over.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ If Ban Ki Moon and his coteries, want to investigate past crimes, violation of human rights by governments , aggressors against innocent civilians.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  There are manyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Nations he could start toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  investigate.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Ban Ki MoonƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and his nosy parkers can investigate crimesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and violation of human rights ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the American IndiansƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  by America, and Canada; American atomic bomb in Hiroshima, American war in Vietnam; violation of human rights and crimes against the Australian aborigines by Australia; Japanese ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ against Manchurians and Koreans; the British and the French against Arabs; British against India, Sri Lankans, South Africans, Kenyans; French against Vietnamese , Algerians; the list is long.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Past is past, there is no time to waste on what had taken place, then.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The Colonialism was not a period of holiday and amusement .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It was a period when many colonised ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ countries were devastated,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  plundering not only their material wealth, but also their pride, culture, religious beliefs and all that they valued as belonging to them.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ While Ban Ki MoonƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and his coteries the Amnesty International, Human Rights watch , the European Union are buried neck deep with the weight of the Sri Lanka Military OperationsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  against the terrorists, they still carry in their minds, Sri Lanka is engaged with its programmes of development, and building unity amoung the communities.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ For Sri Lanka terrorism is now past history.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sri Lanka therefore wants a little more space,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and for thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Ban Ki Moon, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the European Union have to get off its ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ back and mind their own business , to allow ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sri Lanka to continues its march towards progress, and Nation building.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Ban Ki Moon and his nosy parkers should know that Sri Lanka has no ethnic problems .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is a problem that was created by the interested Tamil politicians, and Tamil Intellectuals still making obeisance to the West, such as Pakiasothy Saravanamuttu,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to wieldƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  their power over the Tamil population, and be someƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  sort ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Tamil Chieftains.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Those trouble shooters too are gradually finding a place in the Sri Lankan history, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ while others ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  all communities are emerging into being ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ partners of a new nation of Sri Lankans.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It wasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  a fortnight ago that two Tamil Parliamentarians who were even sympathetic to the LTTE terroristsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and thought of a separate State for Tamils, gave up their idea ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  separation from the Sinhala majority and stated that they would work in harmony with the Sinhala Community and others, and ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ with the President Mahainda Rajapaksa -who has given a new hope for unity, to share in the progress and development of the country as a union of communities.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ These two young politicians, who have taken off time to think intelligently andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  put in their lot with the Sinhala , Muslim and other communities to make Sri Lanka a great Nation are namely : Prabah Ganesan and Palani Digambaram.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Prabah Ganesan had said ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Now is the time to develop the country. ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ and had added , ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-President Mahinda Rajapaksa is one leader, who is elected by the people of this country and his mandate is to develop the country. It is time we all cooperate with him.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

Many TamilƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  people begin to feel that, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦. there is no point in continuing a hostile campaign with the majority community; instead it is better to work together with them to find an acceptable solution to issues facing the Tamils and Tamil speaking people of this countryƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ An heir to the terrorism named by the terrorist leader Prabhakaran- K.PathmanathanƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  has also promised to cooperate with the government and bury the old hatchet of discord that existed between the Tamils and the Sinhala, and work together for the common good of Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Tamil expatriates are beginningƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to question whether it isƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  worth wasting time demanding a separate Tamil Eelam State and may soonƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  join hands with the Sinhala Community- which is awaiting to receive them into its fold , when ever they decide to join their hands with them.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ We are of course left with unconcernedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  critics mooning for the lost terrorism ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ like the TamilNet, SriLanka Guardian, Groundview, Sunday Leader,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and others like Jehan Perera, Kumar Rupasinghe,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and the politiciansƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  hoping to oust the present GovernmentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and seize political power like those of the UNP, JVP, and TNA who are not really worth worrying about.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Even Ananda Sangaree does not fit into the emerging new Sri Lanka.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In a recent comment to an article in the Lanka web a commentator Lorenzo wrote:ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦.unfortunately Tamils in the north east are tribal. Take a look at the parties they vote for.

TAMIL congress, TAMIL kachchi, TAMIL front, TAMIL alliance.

Look at what they demand.

TAMIL aspirations, TAMIL Elam, TAMIL grievances, TAMIL self determination, TAMIL nationality, TAMIL etc, etc.

This is same as in Tamil Nadu. Just look at the political parties and their tribal names and demandsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦..ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

This too will soon end giving place to a country of united communities, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-a one people, one country, one NationƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ There you are Ban Ki Moon, stubbornly holding on to your panel to teach Sri Lanka a lesson by investigating into its past military activities, the present situation in Sri Lanka is far more brighter than you have expected, while scheming to make Sri Lanka a victim of your false allegations.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ While you are holding on to your ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-PanelƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚, history and progress do not wait. As much as past ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ is receding to history,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  social, economic, and cultural progress in Sri Lanka is marching fast forward. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Ban Ki Moon too will soon be just a land mark in the progressive forward marchƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  of Sri Lanka.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ There may be short comings and disappointments, likeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  holes, rocks, and thorns on any uneven path,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  but Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  will overcome all that to make a reality of the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ object of progress and development to be a great nation.
