You reported that Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Jason Kenney had mentioned that it was “Time to get tough on human smuggling” during his meeting with Immigration Ministers from France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Belgium and the United Kingdom.

Being the sceptic that I am, I believe that this is all window dressing of tough huffing and puffingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to soothe the votersƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ angry eyes after the arrival of Sun Sea with 492 illegal Tamil migrants. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I recognize a Tamil refugee scam artist when I see one, but the Canadian politicians are blinded seeing scammers because of the Tamil voters in Canada.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Conservatives, Liberals and the NDP are guilty of this.

IfƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Ratnapala agrees, then I suggest that he and I return to Sri Lanka with a moderator of his choice from the Canadian media, and park ourselves for a
month at Colombo’s airport to count the Tamil refugees returning to holiday ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in Sri :Lanaka.”ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Then, of course, he did not accept my challenge as he knew that I was right.

To get tough on Tamil Tiger human smugglers which happens to be a multi-million dollar business which has been going on since the mid-1980s,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ first the Canadian Government has to catch the TigersƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ by their tails.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But unfortunately, theirƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ tails are well greasedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ for them to slip away from the Canadian authorities by theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and the lucrative business of ImmigrationƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ lawyering and Councelling. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And, of course,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ by the lack of will by all three political parties who are wooing the Tamils for their votes.

That is the handicap that Canada has to be tough on human smugglersƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ of Tamil illegal migrants who see Canada as the most green patch of land from the rest of the world.
