As the saying goes “Once a rebel, always a rebel!” has beenƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ proven time and time again and the nature of such individuals never change despite taking on a garb of political righteousnessƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  over weaponry except in rare cases and will continue to oppose rather than support regimes despite the good that transpires and done only towards their personal ambitions and agendas. This seems to be endorsed by the JVP leader Mr Somawansa Amarasinghe and his JVP buddies as well as the rest of the opposition parties who demand theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  releaseƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  of incarcerated fmr. Maj. Gen.Sarath Fonseka who have the audacity toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ suggest “an uprising of the the masses coming onto the streets.”ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ An act surely worthy of investigation and indictment towards sedition and incitement. Just who does Amerasinghe think he is to make such comments despite his Lumumba University indoctrinations relative to the October Revolution which concept he seems to have grossly misinterpretedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  towards his own detriment! for a second time around!
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
The JVP leader Somawansa AmerasingheƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ has madeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  statement to this effect at the end of protest march near the Welikada prison totally disregarding as well as refuting the true alliances of the masses which are hinged with the Rajapaksha Administration and their indebtedness towardsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ state of the country( Foreign Debt notwithstanding!)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in post LTTE insurgency Sri lanka today.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
It is becoming more an moreƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  apparent that such protestors have only one agenda in mind, namely to ursurp the Rajapaksha regime despite the vain and futile nature of their objectives and the means they chooseƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ which point towards ignorance and apathy when they call for the release of Fonseka who has violated many codes of conduct and broken the law in high handed and irresponsible manner not in keeping with his statusƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and seems to have overstepped his metes and bounds even while commanding the Armed Forces and like the old Sinhala saying goes :The mountains will not be levelled despite the barking of dogs!” where the JVP leader should look at his own shortcomings and false bravado before he decides to champion a law breaker who claims he overcame the LTTE singlehandedly which of course is the furthest from the truth and AmerasingheƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ shoud be wary of whetherƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  or not he himself is violating the laws of the land in calling for the release of an individual incarcerated through the laws of the land.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ which of course is far removed from a plea of clemency and pardon one might add!
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
It seems an irony that the protest march towards the release of fmr. Gen. Fonseka has been ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ organized by a group calling themselves “the Movement for Democracy ” quite forgetting their own tainted pastƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and the arrempts made towards hijacking the very democracies within the land through various contentious means and now screaming for a democracy they do not seem to be able to define towards reality unless they have confused the term democracy with autocracy as that might have been the end result for Sri Lanka had the Sarath Fonseka entourage been succesful in gaining political power and the yapping of the like of Amerasinghe very possibly muffledƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  consequently as there might not have been any platforms for the likes of the JVP to continue as any contending force( not that they ever were realistically) as all the evidence points towards a hypothetical Fonseka regime which could have to all intents and purposes crushed the like of the JVP amongst others
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Amarasinghe’s rhetoricƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that “These walls at Welikada prison are not as high as the victories secured by Sarath Fonseka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ If the people of the country are a grateful nation, all should get together and free Sarath Fonseka.” sounds as hollow and shallow as the man himself who runs for cover each time he feels his personal safety threatened where it is the true democracy within Sri Lanka that tolerates people like himself amongst others who in all probabilities should also be behind bars and perhaps those “Walls At Welikade!”!
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
What the President of Sri Lanka has overseen as the Chief Executive Officer of the Armed Forces at the closure of the Fonseka TrialƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  needs no speculation aboutƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ there being no challenge when detaching the medals and incarcerating him as it has been done legitimately as part of the legal processƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ after thorough legal deliberation based on conclusive evidence as it is part and parcel of the Justice System of Sri Lanka and the bounden duty of the CEO to execute with the option for appeal and to attempt to rally the masses onto the streets of Sri Lanka has to be interpreted as an attempt towards anarchy and treasonƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ where Amerasinghe and his allies should tread carefully!
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It alsoƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ seems somewhat of a bitter pill for the likes of theseƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ would beƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ anarchists ( which seems an appropriate term for them) to accept the reality of what the Rajapaksha Regime has done for the country andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ its liberation fromƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  a huge terroristƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ threat where Maj. Foseka was a mere cog in the wheel which somehow became a spoke in it at the end of it all through his irresponsible actions based on personal ambition and the instigation of the enemies of the Regime. They also seem to find it difficult to assimilate the reality that the masses are firmly behind the Rajapaksha Administration and wishful thinking on their part to preach litanies to the contrary beleiving they would turn against the Administration and perhaps related to their own ambits, mostly inconceivable as well as unattainable when one looks at the relief of the Nation today and the freedoms that all ethnicities now enjoy.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Then there is this element of slating the two thirds Majority which the Rajapaksha Administration has secured in Parliament.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ItƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ seems a waste of time and a mere act of frustrated disdain on the part of those who do so as the two thirdƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ majority has been obtained through consentual support and voluntaryƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  membership of those who believe in the policies of the President and have thrown in their lot with him. There will in all probabilities be,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ positive results for the Nation as a result of it, signs of which are already surfacing.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And towards ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the apprehensions about dictatorship and a totalitarian regime down the road it seems baseless at the present time and a time when the Nation could rise up against it and the present administrators fully aware of related ramifications and something unlikely to transpire. On the other hand such a situation might haveƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ already been set in place even conjecturially had the Presidency been in the hands of a certain former commander of the Armed Forces!

This is nothing but a second attempt by the CIA to launch another ‘color revolution’ in Sri Lanka. They failed miserably with their first attempt just after the elections but they sure have not given up. No doubt Robert o’Blake and Pat Butenis must be on high alert these days…..

  2. Susantha Wijesinghe Says:

Sunil ! Somawansa at the Prison Gates said that he will get the People to break the Prison Walls and set Sarath Fonseka FREE. It is damningly a very high handed utterence, and is tantamount to sedition and incitement, and HE SHOULD BE IN WELIKADE JAIL BY NOW. He is pushing his luck too far I believe. The IGP should arrest him forthwith and produce him in courts. It is high time the Law and Order gets into action mode, and arrest all the inciters. This can be a precursor to another JVP uprising. The Country is trying hard to develop and make all the Sri Lankans live in peace. But these JVP vultures are seriously Rocking the Boat. They are not allowing the under-graduates to study, but are leading them on a path ruin. Time to trample these Roaches.

  3. callistus Says:

Susantha Wijesinghe is very right to say ‘and HE SHOULD BE IN WELIKADE JAIL BY NOW’. JVP has certainly ruined the lives of many innocent youth in the universities. Somawansa must be brought to book for inciting hatred. Get Somawansa, Tilvin, and Vijtha and produce before courts. Sri Lanka can very well do without them and their street riots.

  4. Siri Says:

The writer has given a very good insight to the situation in Sri Lanka. Now that the defence ministry has taken over the collecting of garbage in the city, they should sweep the likes of Somawansa, Tilvin, and Vijtha along with their cronies and and the leftovers of the JVP into the garbage dump where they belong. They have no place in the Post War Sri Lanka. The army did not do a very good job in the seventies and eighties when they wiped off the JVP. If they did a good job we would not have to deal with these rabble rousers today.

  5. jay-ran Says:

Sunil has produced a marvalous annalysis of the failed fools agitation thru frustration of not been able to win any more elections as the next will be a TOTAL DISSASTER FOR JVP,UNP and the other fools not worth mentioning the names.
The height of the absurdity which we can’t understand is the stand taken by the UNP idiots like Dayasiri Jayasekera who thinks that they can collectively turn the tables upside down? Every Dick,Tom & Harry who live in Sri Lanka are well aware of the UNRULY behaviour of SF during the elections period who used all the dirty language on platforms who thought no end of himself thru total MISJUDGEMENTS seeing the crowds at election meetings which are common sight as MANY HAVE ATTENDED THE MEETINGS TO SEE HOW SF TALKS WITH ALL HIGH HANDED DIRTY LANGUAGE LIKE CALLING HIS OPPONENTS KALAWEDDAS,HIKANELLAS< KUNUKATU KANTA DENAWA, PEDURU KOTTA LASTHI KARAGANTA KIYANAWA etc etc. But MR NEVER UTTERED ANY IN BAD LANGUAGE EVEN AFTER RW SAYING 'RAJAPAKSELATA HENAGAHANTA ONEY' at a meeting in Kandy.

  6. Malinda Says:

As a former JVPer who got assaulted by Wadduea police and suffered enough, forced to runaway to Amerca, I can tell you that people in Sri Lanka will never rise.

Our Deshapremi vyaparaya, organised by good sinhala buddhists like us, with English, poetry and everything, failed and Ranil will also fail.

Only Sinhala buddhist revival can help Sri Lanka

    Malinda

  7. Leela Says:

Everyone knows JVP is going the way of the dodos. No wonder, likes of Somawansa is on the look out to find a way out of it.

Right now, neither RanilW nor Somawansa is a crowd puller. As such, assemblage we have seen is the largest both UNP and the JVP could have assembled together. Like Malinda, I am sure as well that people of Sri Lanka will not rise up for them. So, MR should let him bark for barking dogs do not bite.

  8. Malinda Says:

    Hello Leela

You sound like another ghosr of mine, so many.

    Good on you, Keep writing.

    Malinda
