Is the Fisheries Minister going MAD ? or is he after quick money in his pocket as commissions ? I think suggestion number two is more likely.

Susantha.

I see an article in the media that Fisheries Minister RAJITHA SENARATHNA has invited Saudi Arabia to come and FISH IN SRI LANKAN WATERS, and they are coming with 400 BOATS.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I opine that this is the the most disgusting and damning news for all Sri Lankans, What is this earthly hurry to bring in Saudi Arabia, into the Fishing Scene, to take away our WEALTH ? Fishing is a GOLD MINE, and this man has the audacity to hand over our gold mine to a country that is already swimming in LIQUID GOLD. This Minister seems to be a square peg in a round hole, utterly oblivious to his functions, to improve fisheries in Sri Lanka, and give the benefits to the Sri Lankans to enjoy its wealth, and also nutritious food which would be readily available to all Sri Lankans at at a fair price.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ On behalf of all Sri Lankans, Iam requesting this Mad Minister, to stop this crazy idea right now, and then, go and submit himself to a BRAIN SCAN.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ This man is inviting our friendly neighbour INDIA into a BIG CLASH, with Sri Lanka. While the Navy is seeing that Indian Fisherman do not enter Sri Lankan waters, he is authorising Saudi Boats to come from the other side and Fish here. What kind of joke is this ? He has no basic sense in running his Ministry.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I re-iterate that FISHING IS A GOLD MINE IN SRI LANKA. If this Mad man does not know where to start, his Ministerial Functions, I will give my two cents worth, assuming that I was given that Post.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ First, think how the Fisheries Industry could be improved, to give the overall benefits to the Sri Lankans by way of Wealth, and Nutrition. There are thousands of Graduates, waiting for Jobs. Round them up, form Fishing Co-operatives, give them Boats, and make them the nucleus, for Fishing Fleets. Arrange with Banks to Finance their Boats, and fishing gear. I can vouch that they will be able to pay off their loans within Six to Eight months. I know this, as I too wanted to put out a boat at one time. Not only the Graduates, there are thousands of unemployed youth, who would jump at the idea, given the financial resources and the wherewithal. The Wealth is in the Sea. They will be collecting that for themselves. There is a lot of money in Fishing. Thus we have given jobs to our youth, instead of giving jobs to the Saudis, and the Wealth is with us, without our collecting a meagre 20%, and transferring 80% of the wealth to the Saudis. THE VERY THOUGHT WOULD BE A CRIME.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ When the youth of the country are given this opportunity, the BOAT BUILDING INDUSTRY too would benefit, and the Wealth will be retained in the country. More jobs in the Boat Industry would created, bringing contentment to all associated with the industry.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ There are Companies that would put out Fishing Trawlers and create Employment to Graduates and any one who wishes to make good money. All this MAD MAN has to do is to give due publicity to the new ventures, and all hell will break lose

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is downright treachery, to open our avenues of Employment to Foreigners, and deprive our youth, of the opportunities, and then, adding insult to injury, transfer our wealth, our goldmine, on a platter to the rich.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ SRI LANKAN FISHERMEN MUST ACT IN CONCERT TO STOP THIS MAD MAN, FROM GIVING OVER THEIR WEALTH TO THE SAUDIS. THEY SHOULD BE THE FIRST TO RESENT THIS IDIOTIC MOVE.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I SMELL A RAT, I SEE IT FLOATING IN THE AIR.

I agree 100% with Susantha. It will be dissaster if Saudis come here to fish. I hope MR will look into this and fire this bastard.

It’s not just the fish for Lanka’s fishing industry that Lanka will lose …. we smell a rat on other matters too. Why would Saudi want to fish in Lankan waters when they themselves are surrounded by the sea ? Fishing in troubled waters is more like it !
The President should stop this venture before matters get out of hand.
