Christian priests who are falsely claiming to haveƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬converted to Islam have been on anƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬campaignƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬to ‘promote’ Islam and collect funds under the cover of Islam.

However these people were seized andƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬this unlawfulƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬and unethical campaign has come to light due to action taken by the Forum for Religious and Cultural Studies (FRCS)ƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬and Islamic Call and Research Academy (ICRA)ƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬organizations.

ƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬In one such instance, a Catholic priest who hadƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬’converted’ toƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬Islam led a bogus campaign to collect funds from Muslim brothersƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬and sisters in the name of Islam under several different names: Issa, Farook, Razzak, Abdul Raheem, Salman Timothy. Furthermore he had also cheated many Muslims byƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬taking their money andƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬promising to send them to Italy. ƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬

In order to prevent such cases occurring in the future we would kindly appreciate the assistance ofƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬Sri Lankans of all religious persuasions in helping to bring similarƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬fraudsters to justice.

We caution Muslims to be more vigilantƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬when meetingƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬people who claim to be Christian priests having converted to Islam andƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬committing such crimes.ƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬When meeting such people consider;

* Asking about their previous priest/pastor identity card or proof of priesthood, if they claim to be priests beforeƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬who have converted to Islam

* Inquiring information related to conversion (who converted themƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬ to Islam and ask for theƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬certificate)

* Inquiring aboutƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬their previous parishƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬and theƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬church they worked for.

Please be kind enough to provide us information of suchƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬fraudsters by contacting FRCS or ICRA using below mentioned contact details:
