Fans of Elizabeth Taylor and all people of goodwill will wish her a speedy and full recovery from her current medical condition.

She will be remembered, as the writer says, in a special way for her part in ELEPHANT WALK, a film shot in part on location in Sri Lanka. But I don’t think she ever visited the island. The film was shot on location with Vivien Leigh (wife of Sir Laurence Olivier) in the female lead role. I believe that unfortunately, however, Miss Leigh had a nervous breakdown during the shooting of the film and could not complete her role. Some of the scenes were later ‘re-shot’ in the film studios in England, with Elizabeth Taylor now taking over the female lead role.

reflecting on Cassandra’s viewpoint, the sublimely beautiful actress Elizabeth Taylor according to many credible film historians, movie buffs and gossip columnists who remembered, had indeed been in Ceylon for the filming of Elephant Walk after the original Actress Vivian Leigh had to withdraw due to illness. Today herself recovering from illness in a California hospital at thr age of 74, all her ardent fans including myself wish her a speedy recovery.
It was also recorded that during the shooting of the film The newspapers in Colombo were full of the stars arriving in Ceylon which apparently included Miss Taylor although there is no way of establishing this as there was a striking resemblance between her and Vivian Leigh.
