We are no Libya.

One cannot but talk about “ƒ”¹…”war crimes’ without talking about long and multifarious history that led to the formation of LTTE and its terrorists acts.

It all started in India. Long before India got its independence, a Tamil named E.V.Ramasamy Periyar strive to unify Dravidians to call for a Dravidasthan or a separate country. But, all Dravidian races except Tamils had settled down for race based quasi-federal units within the state of India. But Tamils continued to refine their separatist sentiments not just in India but in Sri Lanka as well for a separate country. And gradually, Eelam in the North East of Sri Lanka had become the aspiration of so-called Sri Lankan Tamils.

So, portraying various grievances as the cause for that Tamil aspiration is a ruse. The truth is; Tamil aspiration had led to the makeup of all the Tamil grievances.

Mr. Chelvanayagam was the founder of the separatist party, ITAK. It was evident that Chelva and his followers used non violent Ghandian tactic of Satyagraha to inch towards that clearly spelled goal of his party acronyms. On May 14th 1976 followers of ITAK had gathered at Wadukkoddai not to hold a peaceful Satyagraha but to make a fateful declaration to all Tamils. At that mass rally, leaders of ITAK had urged their youth to take up arms and not to lay it down until Eelam was won. We now know that many a future LTTE leaders including Pirapaharan was in that venue.

Pirapaharan and company had never let down ITAK leaders. With the backing of Indian separatists, LTTE and its suicide bombers had become a force to reckon. They relied on sheer terror tactics to achieve their goal. Following is just some of that murderous record. LTTE blew up an Indian Prime Minister, a Sri Lankan President, a Presidential Aspirant/an Opposition Leader, many a Minister, took the eye of a President, massacred many villages in entirety, blasted the temple of tooth, killed meditating monks and pilgrims to Sri Maha Bodhi. It got 345 human bombs to blast buses, trains and public places to kill and maim the old, the sick and the young of all races. To me, the worst act of all is the eradication of almost all the traditional Tamil leadership.

Now, in between those gruesome acts, neo colonialists that sought a foothold in Sri Lanka but were frustrated started to capitalise on our pathetic situation. Neo colonialists’ formations called International Community and their cohorts like AI and HRW, and I/NGO buddies of those cohorts that wanted to investigate the alleged ‘war crimes’ right now never asked anyone else to investigate crimes carried out by LTTE for more than thirty years. Shame on the IC, AI and HRW!

Instead, IC, their cohorts and buddies of those cohorts chanted peace, peace and peace and manipulated both ChandrikaK’s government and RanilW’s opposition not just to pursue talks with Pirapaharan, the leader of LTTE at different venues but also to enter in to “ƒ”¹…”peace’ agreements with the terrorists.

Did Pirapaharan or LTTE gave peace a chance? No. LTTE used the peace truce to drum up its cause, extend the realm of its real estate and submit an abnormal proposal called ISGA. Had such a proposal ever being submitted to a sovereign country by a peace desiring party? No. Chris Pattern last governor of Hong Kong who negotiated with China to hand it back said; he has never come across anything like ISGA during his lifetime anywhere in the world. Actually, it is all Eelam but name.

Give it to us, or else, we’ll take it; that was LTTE mind-set for a long time. Had Mahinda Rajapakse not been elected President of Sri Lanka in 2005, a true war to rid the terrorists would never have begun; megalomaniac Pirapaharan would have been alive to date. And he would have been blasting his human bombs at will. And we would not be sure our kith and kin come back home in one piece. And the Vikings would be cruising along A9 in their Land Cruisers as arbitrators for peace. They would be investigating peace violations and making a beeline to international press as protectors of peace.

Since May 18, 2009, the date that ended the war with LTTE, no Tamil or Sinhalese or another died in an act of war. Tell us neo colonialists; which had produced better results? Finishing the killers at a war or talking fake peace with the killers for decades?

Old Testament is said to be over four thousand years old. Mahabharata said to be older than that. Both explained deeds and acts of the creator God. Tell us, which of the wars in them that no civilian died or to put it better where no civilian was killed. Joshua 6:21 says “… the walls of Jericho came tumbling down, and then the Israelites destroyed with the sword every living thing in it – men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep, and donkeys”. “In the fight between the Kauravas and the Pandavas, both sides agreed to abide by certain rules but both sides had broken all the rules eventually.” That’s what Mahabharata said.

Sri Lankan forces never aimed to kill civilians. It had not used nuclear bombs as the US used at Hiroshema, Napalm and Agent Orange in Vietnam and Cambodia, nor had it used white phosphorus wedges as Israel did use in residential areas of Gaza, nor had it used depleted uranium warheads as the illegal invaders used in Iraq and Anglo, French and the US consortium use right now in Libya.

International Community had listed LTTE as a terrorist organization along with Al Queada. With that act, they had pushed their pants down on their own. However much they wished LTTE to survive, they couldn’t help it openly. They could only prop up by saying, Pirapaharan is an expert war strategist and therefore LTTE cannot be beaten.

Why do they want LTTE to endure? I/NGOs and Vikings had luxurious five stars living on the back of the war. And neo-colonists had plans centred on LTTE power factor to establish military bases in Tamil Eelam. No war means all those plans had gone off beam. No wonder, they started to look for new avenues to extend their old trade. And they have formulated “ƒ”¹…”war crimes’ as best path.

Moon’s panel had followed that trail for it has too many preconceptions about Sri Lanka’s war on terrorists. The Island’s editor said that in uncertain terms; Darusman carries a wrath against Sri Lanka, Ratner is prejudiced on Sri Lanka traditions and Sooka need Euros to run her NGO.

Shady troika finding Sri Lanka guilty on evidence of LTTE rump, neo colonists and their buddies is one thing; but punishing it is another thing altogether. For our part, let us come out and tell them in one voice: We shall never ever turn our back on those that help us to rid the terrorists that had hounded us for thirty years. We are no Libya.
