Sarath Fonseka and the Millions of US$’s, and what was left of it?.

So what happened to the stash of Crispy $ bills to the tune of $500,000 that was confiscated with many Millions of Rupees, when Sarath FonsekaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s son-in-laws mother went to deposit it in safety deposit boxes at a Colombo Bank?.
Surely it would have been very easy to trace the $500,000 in crispy notes (the leftover from SFƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Election Campaign), why have we not heard anymore about this?, did they trace it to the US Embassy in Colombo?, if so has the US either threatened SL or bribed SL with aid to keep this secret from the SL public?.
We all know SF did not have this kind of money, and also you cannot walk into a SL bank and get Millions of US $ in brand new bundles, it had to have come from an outside source in diplomatic cargo.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ So where did it originate?.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Was it the Norwegians, British, Americans or the French?.
I will leave it to the readers to judge (see circumstantial evidence pointing to the US).
Your Excellency Mahinda Rajapakse, you owe it to the hard working people of SL to publicize the origins of the money for SF and who or what organizations, and what country was behind the failed attempt to grab power by SF.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Do not be afraid, you stood up to the west to free SL form the terrorists, let us show the west who we SLƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s are!.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Your people will be behind you 100%.

Consider General Sarath Fonseka, the former commander of Sri Lanka Army, and the opposition presidential candidateƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” chosen by opposition leader, Ranil Wickremasinghe (and perhaps the IDU).ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sarath Fonseka has had close contact with the US ambassadors in Colombo ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” past and present.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He has had close contact with Robert O. Blake, while Blake was US ambassador in Colombo, and now as Assistant Secretary for Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs in Washington.
General Fonseka met with Robert O. Blake in Washington just before he announced his candidacy for president.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And soon after his return to Colombo, he is known to have reported to US Ambassador Patricia Butenis.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Now there is evidence that Sarath Fonseka, sometime during the election campaign, received a stash of over $500,000 illegal money (unused, brand new, crisp bills in numbered sequence).
In addition, consider the following sequence of events:
1. General Fonseka, just weeks before declaring his candidacy for president, visits the US embassy in Colombo.
2. Soon followed by a visit to Robert O. Blake at the US State Department in Washington.
3. Within a day or two of his visit to Washington, the General announces that, he has been approached by US authorities to give evidence of war crimes against Gotabhaya Rajapakse, Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Secretary of Defense (there is speculation that the General did divulge national secrets).
4. The General promptly returns to Sri Lanka and visits the US embassy in Colombo.
5. Days later, General Fonseka resigns from the highest position (CDS) in the army, handing over an acrimonious letter of resignation, stating disagreements with Gotabhaya Rajapakse and the President.
6. Within days, the General declares his candidacy for president as the opposition candidate.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He was chosen by a coalition lead by the opposition leader, Ranil Wickremasinghe, for the election in January 2010.

You can look at this issue in a different angle, I suppose. US or India (Govt at that time, talked some Asian embassy providing money) may have influenced SF’s decision. Western countries have a very good history in using multi party democracy for their advantage.
General Fonseka was fooled by many including JVP, UNP and who knows who else.
Right now what important is get him released.
But, you are silent about that.
Why don’t you think, that 74% of all those votes are one side, that will be a greater strength to sri lanka ?

the way gvt act against SF can not be accepted. It was govt who mixed up the politics and the internal security of the country.
he’ve cordially accepted the “white flag” case which published by Fedrica Jeanz a known lier and end up with a sorry situation inside the country.
It was sad to see here in this site too there were many “short sighted” people commented against SF but never tried to bring back SF to MR regiem. now we are paying for it.
If you ask people those who vote for MR , 90% do not accept the way gvt treat to SF and his familly.

Nalin has raised a very correct question as to how SF’s safe had so much of US $s of which WERE UNUSED NOTES?
We were eagerly waiting for a good investigation as to how SF became so rich just after contesting Presidential Elections as this moroon had the audocity to say that he was living with the SALARY HE RECEIVED from Govt.
Yes, this is a very appropriate and a sensible question that MR & GOVT SHOULD REPLY!!!

According to Rajiva Wijesinghe, after meeting with US embassy, TNA decided to support $F. The LTTE diaspora,TNA , West has one agenda in common. They all want to devide SL. They tried it through LTTE. They failed. Now they try to achieve it throgh $F. Is that your agenda too in saying to release $F ?

All the LTTE rump in the west are crying for $F too. Not because they like him, because he is the only hope to form EALAM for them. Why did $F dance to the tune of LTTE mouth piece Channel 4? Why is he saying the Tamilnet report is accurate? Why is he charging our army for war crimes? (many many times) Who want to charge our army for war crimes? To the people who want him out, be prepared to give EALAM that is is job for the money he get.

Today we see what is going on and who is behind. I don’t think most people still get the picture and what the threat SL and they are facing right now. It is in public domain that UNP provided funds to SF’s campaign. JVP said, they would reveal how that money ($ 750,000) was received if the govt goes to courts. nothing happened.
Is it illegal to suscribe to election campaigns by foreing countries in Sri Lanka ?
There is even a book written on that China had subscribed to Bill Clinton’s election campaign. there were news reports at that time saying that China was lobbaying USA during the election campaign.
Only in Sri Lanka, if the direct involvement of USA is revealed that would go against the candidate who got funds.
TNA supporting SF is not evidence against SF. Because, President agreed to three ministerial portfolios. So, TNA backed by diaspora decided to devide the opposite campaign and went with SF. I don’t think SF agreed to anyone.
Even during the war, it is MR who said that he can not differentiate between tamils and sinhalas while SF said that Sinhale is sinhala country. In that comparison, MR would be a traitor.

We need to think the bigger picture.
We can not live without outside influence, it is simply impossible. But, we can use it for our advantage.
Then the next question is this UNP, JVP all useless. It is simply, those MPs who can not have power sabotage and exploit the existing system.
What we need is a political system that we can move beyond what we have.
I am not suggesting that SF is the solution. We need to support a system that will devlop such people and such a system
But, we as human beings have responsibility to ask the govt to leave him alone.
It is just disgrace to use various silly excuses to keep him in jail because that helps the present leaders.
Even if the govt reveals how SF got money nothing will be wrong. Actually, that will curtails the SF’s chances of future elections.

If you people think that USA/TNA can change SFs stand towards our country I can’t help you guys. If you think that US/TNA can buy SF.LTTE could have easily buy him before they’ve desperately tried to kill him. It’s SF who directly said to the media that this country is belongs to Sinhalese ,but Tamils can live with Sinhalese with harmony.
I think you people never look at the foreign news, I never see people crying for LTTE have asked for release of SF, they are still having MR/GOTA/SF in their list to get the revenge.
I’ve seen a new program on ITN when SF was the CDS where in front of SF ,MR says that It’s political leader who won the war and he went on saying that any Army commander can win the war. Is it not humiliation?. I was so shocked to see that. MR should have given the credit to him too. Even Gota do never talk about the contribution SF made. It’s a very famous story SFs involvement to save Mulative during early hours of the independence day 2009. I do not say that SF is the only hero. the contribution made by MR /Gota was similar to that SF made.
If you’ve read the “Arakshawa” column in Divaina from 2003 onward you can understand how SFs contribution , brain and the tactical power he used in battle field.
Talking about “calling to his daughter in US” . If you can name ,pls name who have not used Government recourses to call/treat their relatives. Gvt recourses are grossly misused by politicians. No one so far published how many calls he made and the time he took the call. Do not forget that during the final battle he used to stay in the head office even at midnight.
Talking about prof Rajiv Wijesinghe. He is a respectable diplomatic personality, but his comments toward SF are biased and I do not know why.
Has he got a fair trial? Do you think that the errors he made are justifiable for such a long imprisonment. If so we can send whole parliament to 100 years jail term easily. Its revenge man it’s revenge.

Sam dont talk about fairness with this dangerous man SF. Do you remember his comments during the election times. Didnt he tell MR to find a room in Bogamabara prison if he comes to power? Did you listen to his language and his actions during that time? MR didnt put him in cell but our law puts him there for his crimes so let him stay there for sometime and realiza his mistakes. Our country cannot be allowed to run by foreign aided puppet and put our heros in danger. This guy deserves what he got.
We gave our vote to this Government because of one reason. They won the war for us and eliminated the most ruthless murderers from our soil. During these six years they have done more than expected to our homeland and we appreciate it rather than giving our vote to JVP thugs and UNP cowards including your traitor SF. the only differance here is that SF said the dangerouse thing what he intended to do and MR did it.for me both are same in this case. MR would be a great human/Leader, if he did not do what SF wanted to do.

ranjit, has highlighted a very sensible fact to REMINDING TO CONSIDER THE COMMENTS MADE BY SF on elections platforms.SF was speaking like IDI AMIN in highly angry and hatred manner which exposes clearly his LOW MENTALITY ATTITUDES.His cautioning MR and the gang to find rooms at Bogambara itself is enough evidence to prove his villain attitudes. Yes as “ranjit” says MR did not put him in jail and after investigations only SF was sentenced.
Its wrong to say that it was ONLY SF WHO DEFEATED LTTE, as it was a team work with CORRECT LEADERSHIP which was not displayed by earlier RULERS.
Even now its not too late for SF to plead guilty and request PARDON FROM MR-President!

It is more than possible that Sarath Fonseka suffered from Trauma after the ltte suicide bomber attacked him. This may explain his his irrational actions after that incident.
During a war there is classified information which the public get to know of many years later. Secret information about WWI
&II are still coming out ! Mr Fonseka himself said that he sleeps better under custody. This speaks volumes.
Only misinformed Sri Lankans run up against their own country and a President who has done so much for his country & all its People.

Fonseka was a rouge by birth and by action.
He came back from US on invitation of Gota but before that he set up companies and arranged agents in all relevant countries.
He earned plenty of money during war and wanted to continue for ever.
US seized the opportunity to appoint their agent.
I dont know why people still sympathetic to him , actions in the past shows who the man is- there was no mental damage as such.
He did not become a born again Buddhist, then only his personality could change. ( Only by birth he is Buddhist)

Ranjith and Dham said very correctly. I prefer to add few more. During last stage of the war SF and his family including son-in-law was in China finalizing big deal of Arms. As war ended SF could not get the approval for his Arm shipment payments by Gota. Thereafter SF became angry over MR/ Gota. As Ranjith its time to find more about SF US$ case.

Useless talking about this guy because of his stupidity and big head he himself fallen in to this mess. With his GENERAL name board he would have lived like a king with good respect from the whole country Instead he chose the wrong path due to greedyness and power. Who the hell with a good general knowledge and a fair mind will join a party like JVP. Is he so stupid to join a party of thugs and holligans who doesnt have any decency to address our own citizens? If he came forward with some respectable persons he may have got some sympathy not with those rascals who was responsible for many deaths during the past history of JVP.
If he is not guilty why dont he ask his son in law to come out from hiding and tell the truth if he has any. No war can be won without the approval of the President of a countryIf he or she is a puppet like Ranil we wouldnt have won any war. This forum is an ideal micro specimen of the way the Sri Lankans think.
The former Army Commander is not on the deck here but the government.
Instead many tried to show their whipping and divertive skills and inadvertently exposed their nakedness to the whole world.
And if you have nothing to say about why the government is silent about the issue, then do not say anything but reserve many of those comments for an appropriate occasion.
No wonder why we stayed as a third world country for this long and it would stay many more centuries like that if we are capable of dealing with issues only this way.

Because of this dirty traitor we have to answer to many corners around the world. He give unneccessary coments to different media outlets which are not friendly to us and day by day give tension to our leaders who have done immense service to our country. Because of his white flag story the enemies of our land waiting like vultures to grab Rajapksa brothers to hang them in Hague. The Buddha said that ONLY by one’s actions is one high born or low born (Vasala Suthra). Therefore, a person holding a high post in public life anywhere in the world can be held in high esteem by others or demean himself/herself solely by his/her actions. It is left to the individual to choose wisely.

I find the situation in Sri Lanka even more profound because the masses are often being driven in circles by the Media, and they know it, but do not wish to admit to the nausea. What the Author should call for, is for MR to look into the source of the cash and prevent future such occurrences. Publication of the findings is best left to the discretion of the Legislators, in keeping with Lanka’s IR policies.
The real issue here is, what’s at stake i.e. Sri Lanka’s Sovereignty!!! Whoever “stumped up” the money, obviously has an undue vested interest in the internal affairs of the Country. Sri Lanka is certainly not a meek-willed nation, but we do not have the economic-might AS YET, to stand up to the western world. This is a fact. Nor can we exist in isolation to the rest of the world. Cordial International Relations are paramount to our existence. Prima facie, MR seems to be accountable to the masses on the matter. However, not knowing the nature of the beast that is being confronted with, I believe that this accountability maybe better in the breach than in its observance. What can the masses do in the knowledge of the source of the said cash??? The “right to know” is a mere right, like any other “right” and does not prevail at all times, irrespective of the consequences!
The fact that SF visited the US Embassy on several occasions, sheds no light on the source of the cash
(mere spec). As to how SF is being treated at this present moment in time (re: forum comments) is a different matter all together and deviates from the crux of the present topic.
Who cares as to what happened to the rest of the cash (re: heading)??? “Power” corrupts, absolutely or otherwise. But unwavering resistance (ref. masses) can only prevail with tactful diligence and due direction! Let’s hope the money is still in Sri Lanka and does something to improve our budget deficit! ha ha.. as if…!
