Time to identify enemies within

According to media reports, Housing and Construction Minister Wimal Weerawansa warned the public to be cautious of some elements working inside the government to destabilise the country. The Minister noted that while the country was now moving forward after the end of the war, there are attempts by some groups overseas to target the economy. Addressing a meeting at Homagama the Minister has said that these groups have the support of some elements in the government who are working with sinister agendas.

The ruling coalition consists of parliamentarians with different interests. There are hardcore supporters of 13th Amendment and Federalism even among SLFP parliamentarians. Most of these members who share similar views have no real mass support. Some are national list MPs. Others are either members of the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”three wheelerƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ parties or who have changed sides to suit their personal agendas and have nowhere else to go.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

Although President Mahinda Rajapakse has done a wonderful thing by keeping all these elements together, probably with the intention of achieving political stability as a short term measure, we are now witnessing some of its negative effects almost one after the other.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

Propaganda machinery of the LTTE support groups abroad is active as never before. The LTTE rump spend all their funds with the help of westerners to ensure war crime chargers are laid against the security forces and to replace the current leadership with a puppet regime by hook or crook. The infamous Ban Ki-moon Report, Chanel 4 and its repeats broadcasting over various western media throughout the world and the most recent screening of the Chanel 4 documentary by the so-called US lawmakers and rights advocates and calls for an international probe into Sri Lanka’s civil war is an indication towards this direction.

As we remember, since President Mahinda Rajapaksa came to power, conferences were held in Colombo for the diplomatic service personnel, specifically to explain the dynamic role that they have to play when countering the activities of the LTTE and its front organisation responsible for spreading misinformation. Unfortunately, it appears that although the Sri Lankan diplomatic services operating in some of the countries are active in this direction, some appear to be quite sluggish. Despite the efforts of the handful patriotic Sri Lankan expatriates community living in those countries, misinformation of the LTTE rump continues at an unprecedented level, while our diplomatic missions are apparently doing nothing.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  A complete overhauling of the Foreign Ministry, eliminating the elements who are dancing to the tune of some NGOs, is a must if we are to successfully combat the propaganda terrorism of the LTTE rump.

Fuel hedging gamble and the importation of low quality fuel are typical examples of corruptions among bureaucrats.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Similarly, the officials who are responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people due to Rajarata kidney disease by permitting the importation of low quality pesticides containing harmful chemicals should be exposed and punished and action should be taken to import only the quality products. The importers of these pesticides must be spending millions, by now, to stop the research work done by the group of scientists led by Prof. Nalin de Silva and to cover up the issue with the help of corrupted officials, so-called academics and politicians.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

Destabilising the country, both politically and economically, is the only way known to our opposition parties to come to power. For them, targeting the economy is a priority. It is apparent that some of the elements within the government who have proven records of involving in controversial issues are providing the necessary amenities to the opportunist politicians in the opposition to create unrest among the general public to achieve their sinister motives.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The recent unrest provoked due to the introduction of a pension scheme for private sector employees is a case in point.

The Australian minority government is going ahead with its introduction of Carbon Tax despite the severe disapproval of the taxpayers and the parliamentary opposition.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  If we have a minority government in Sri Lanka, similar to that of Prime Minister Julian Gillard of Australia, we would have witnessed JVP burning whatever they can to add more carbon dioxide to the environment as a mark of protest, UNP breaking pots and pans on streets and buying few MPs to crossover, disregarding all norms of democracy, to topple the democratically elected government. It is not surprising at all, if one or two notorious foreign Ambassadors in Colombo who come from so-called five star democracies in the world but are not second to saboteurs within our soil, have joined the Opposition Leader at his Cambridge Place to provide the necessary side support to topple the government under such a situation.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

We were under foreign powers for centuries due to the acts of saboteurs and traitors. We have witnessed, during our life time, how powerful are elements with sinister agendas when destabilising regimes. The public must be aware of these elements, as a priority, and should rally against such elements in order to protect our nation.

Wimal has ended up a joke which is very sad. If there are disruptive forces within the government, the government should take action against them. It is the government keeping them. People can’t do anything about it.

    Sack the disruptive forces.

Wimal Weerawansha is a disaster to Sri Lanka.

Even this article or the writer himself has been a vandibattaya because the govt does not have any-self evaluation. Govt criticizes everybody else, blame everybody else and does not evaluate themlves or evaluate themselves.

I think, when one primie minster talked about Kudumudalalis ruining the country and the society as the responsible politicians of the governing party. Wimal weerwansha counteracted and scored with the president by talking about the anti-govt elements in the party.

Everybody knows governing party has not only politically bankrupt ideologies as well as many criminal businessmen who use socially unacceptable ways to earn money.

My point is there are thngs we can learn even from enemies. By the way, even to win the war, we used LTTE-tactics against them.

What Akuru says is perfectly correct. AnuD who calls him as a ‘Vandibattaya’ must be a JVP goon who does not like Wimal Weerawansa. JVP never had a policy in the history as same as now. Some time back the JVP was aligned with Wickramabahu Karunaratne and were of the opinion that the North and East should be given to the extremist Tamils for their own rule. Then when Sihala Urumaya was born the JVP took a 180 degrees turn and became anti LTTE. At the last Presidential elections the JVP backed Sarath Fonseka after aligning with the so called ‘capitalist’ UNP and I can’t imagine what would have happened to their ‘Marxism’ had Sarath Fonseka won. The JVP is talking about corruption but the person they appointed as the Chairman of Laksala (while they were in CBK’s government) was formerly a corrupt shipping clerk who worked at Ceylon Shipping Corporation and was a strong member of the Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya (union aligned to the UNP) during JRJ government. What is required at the moment is to direct the MR’s government in the right direction and not to topple it and bring back the pro Western or pro LTTE elements to rule Sri Lanka.
