Why did Tamils of North and East voted Terrorist proxy TNA ? and Has White West a Divine Mission on Earth ?

By Charles.S.Perera

The saddest day after the elimination of terrorism in Sri Lanka was the dayƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  after the local government electionƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  of the 23 June,2011, when the election ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ results of theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  North and East ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Sri Lanka were announced.

When I wroteƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  two days before the election, that the Local Government elections of the North and East which would certainly be favourable to the Government, would finally settleƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the incessantƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  interference of theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  West to destabilise Sri Lanka ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and accuse the Government Forces for violation of human rights and war crimes, a reader commented, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚«ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  No disrespect, but this is only wishful thinking. Just wait 2 days and you will see in the election result.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚»

The commentatorƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  was correct, the Tamils of the North and East were not generous, butƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  were furious that terrorism had ended. It is sad , but the reality is that those who suffer get used to it as a way of existence, and fearingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the opposite of it prefer to continue ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ suffering without making an effort to surmount misery.

What can ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the TNA give the Tamils in North and East more than what the President Mahinda Rajapakse has already ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ given to them for their ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ comfort and wellbeing?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

A political devolution ? ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Is thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  what is most essential for the Tamils in the North and East ? or has the TNA got their priorities wrong ?

When the news of the end of terrorism was announced in the South the Sinhala people took to the streets to rejoice.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They were at last free , free of the fear of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ exploding claymore bombs, and terrorist suicide bombers.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They could at last begin to live normal peaceful lives. They showed their gratitude to the President and the Armed Forces for giving themƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  this freedom from 30 years ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  stress and fear.

But there was no such jubilant expression of freedom from the Tamils of the North and East after the elimination of terrorism.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  But on the contrary instead of showing their ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ gratitude to the President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka there was criticismƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  of the President and his government , andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  repeated demand to remove theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  High Security Zones and complaints of the presence of the soldiers ( they had by now forgotten that it was these soldiers that rescuedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  hundreds of thousands of them from the grip of the terrorists)

In the case of the Tamils in the North and East voting to a party which is known to be a terrorist proxy demonstrate that they, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ as Pakiasothy Saravanamuttu says, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ despite the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦.. time and energy invested by the leading lights of the regime, the results must surely be seen as a repudiation of what they stand for and what they have doneƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚».ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

Pakiasothy Saravanamuttu sayƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  that , ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚«ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦These results need serious analysis by all political parties as an indication of the trajectory of politics to come .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚»ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  . Rather than making such an analysis as ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚«ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ an indication of the trajectory of politics to comeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚», it should be made an occasion to understandƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  why this lack of gratitude, for a government that had removed the most disastrous evil terrorists, who hadƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  forƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  thirty long years had made their livesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  a torturous existence..

Gratitude is a characteristic of the Sinhala people derived from their Buddhist culture. The Buddha was an ordinary man ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…”a Prince and his philosophy a human philosophy, which teaches the value of a human life.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  As much as Buddhism teaches pervading of universal love to all living beings, it also teaches the importance ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  compassion for the suffering of others. Hence to those who intervene to help the Sinhala people in their ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ moments of suffering, with a word of comfort or means to reduce ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ their suffering, they ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ show their gratitude.

But these qualities are absent in the Hindu culture, the Tamils are Hindus, worshipers ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  God figures, which are not human but have only characteristics such as Ganesha remover of obstacles, SaraswathyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  goddess of Wisdom, Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the preserver, Krishna the destroyer and so on.

Their form of worship is reciting of prayers, inflictingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  pain and suffering on themselves through penances for the atonement of their sins.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Hence you find normal happy Hindu Tamils having no apparent ailment or any other form of suffering, inflict suffering onƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  themselves by hanging in a bullock cartƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  through hooks pierced into the skins of theirƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  back taken all the way to Kataragama , rolling on craggy roads over stones and thorns , pierce the tongue with pointed instruments , and walking barefoot on red hot charcoal .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

They do all that through fear of god seeking atonement for their wrong doings.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Therefore gratitude is not a part of their religious culture, but fear and atonement of sins, distrust for those outside their race and religion, keeping the company of their likes seems to be their embedded Hindu characteristics.

Suffering for them is a sacred ritual.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Hence suffering under the iron boots of terroristsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  must have been for the Tamils of the North and EƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ast a sacred privilege.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They hadƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  even made Prabhakaran the terrorist their ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-thalaivarƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ a deity of their pantheon of Gods.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  He was their sun God.

Therefore, elimination of terrorism was not to the liking of the Tamils of the North and East.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ItƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  may have been ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ considered by them a sacrilege committed by the President of Sri Lanka and the Armed Forces.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Therefore, there isƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  no surprise they voted for the TNA Candidates at the LocalƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Government elections in preferences to the candidates of the UPFA- party responsible for the elimination ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the Sun God Prabhakaran.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  TheyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  therefore voted for the terrorists phantoms the TNA.

If these Tamils of the North and East who votedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  TNA at the Local Government elections of the 23rd July,2011, were to have been ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ providedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  a way out of their sufferingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  under the terrorists and installed in an environment of non suffering, they would have ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ still continued toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  regret the past suffering under the terrorist as some ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-sacred divine favourƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ that had been forcefully taken away from them.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It was not to be as the President and the Sri Lanka Armed ForcesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  through their compassion eliminatedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the terrorists, for the greater good of the Country and all its people.

Their suffering under terrorists may have been ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ according to the Hindu religious culture they had inherited, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- a form of ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-holy sufferingƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They had deified ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Prabhakaran the terrorist leader and his elimination at Nandikadal was a sacrilege committed by the President Mahinda Rajapakse and the Sri Lanka Armed Forces, therefore they want to take revenge from the President.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  That accounts for the overwhelming ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ victory of the TNA Candidates.

They areƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  all in it,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  in the Hindu Culture, the big and the ordinary Tamils, those Tamils of the TNA, Navi Pillai, Radhika Coomaraswamy, D.B.S.Jeyaraj, Pakiasothy Saravanamuttu, Pearl Thevanayagam, Sri Lanka Guardian , expatriate Tamil Community, they are all the worshippers of deified terrorist Prabhakaran.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They are therefore united to discredit Sri Lanka and get the Western anti Sri Lanka Countries to drag the President and the Sri Lanka Armed Forces before a tribunal accused for war crimes.

The TNA after its victory in the Local Government Elections had announced that, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚«ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ it would be impossible to reach a political solution and bring about lasting peace, justice and democracy in the North without the devolution of police and land powers.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚»

Their victory is no surprise due to the reasons detailed above, but they are going a little farƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  asking for police and land powers.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The TNA will not be able to give to the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚«ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ungrateful ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚» TamilƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  people in the North and East who voted for them, one hundredth of what the President Mahinda Rajapakse ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and his Government have already given to these Tamil people, even if the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚«ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  police and land powersƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚» were to be given to them.

The terrorist proxy TNA are not patriots, they are not there for unity , progress and development of the country, what they want is political power to ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- lordƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ over the poor Tamil people dividing them according to their castes and keeping them under their thumbs.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

The poor Tamil people of the North and the East who have been brain washedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  first by the terrorist for thirty long years and now by the TNA politicians do not care for political power, what they would ask if they could speak on their own is peace , education facilities for their children, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ communicate ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ withƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the government authorities in their own language, medical facilities, and better living conditions.

What the TNA,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  according to its spokesmanƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Suresh Premachandra is happy about is that the victory had given them a stronger position to negotiate with the government at the ongoing talks. Suresh Premachandra boasts, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚«ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ItƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s unfortunate that the government has failed to understand fully and correctly the realƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  problems facing the Tamil community and their aspirations. I wonder whether the government even realises the impact of the TNAƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s electoral victory. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚»

Here Premachandran speaks about the aspirations of the TNA and not those of the Tamil people of the North and East.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The Tamil people have been given what they aspire, after thirty years of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ their suffering by the President of Sri Lanka and his government.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The President and the Government Armed Forces have been given freedom from fear of terrorism.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They have been given homes in the villages from which they were forcibly displaced by the terrorists.

Their villages which were mined by the terrorists have been made safe by removal of the mines by the President and his Government.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Their children have been found schools and they are attending schools provided by the Government of Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They have been provided with facilities to carry out their profession as fishermen, farmers, traders , businessmen, government servants etc.

What more can the TNA give them ?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The Tamil people are in Sri Lanka in the North and the East, but the TNA is going all over India, speaking about the plight of the Tamil people, asking for Indian help, when the President of Sri Lanka and his government are organizing to make these Tamil people have better living conditions, have better transport facilities, access to fresh water, and electricity.

Yet anotherƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Tamil pandit, Pakiasothy SaravanamuttuƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  also says, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Surely the message of the election result in the north and east is that economic development or the promise thereof, cannot be divorced or substituted for political rights. There is a deficit not just in terms of democracy and accountability, but also in terms of sincere commitment with respect to a political settlement.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚»

Was that really the message of the poor Tamil people of the North and East ? ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ What are these political rightsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  that cannot be divorced from economic development? Is it that they want a separate HomelandƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Can Pakiasothy Saravanamuttu instead of being vague say what exactly are these important political rights the people of the North and East demandƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  that cannot be divorced from economic development ?

It appears Pakiasothy SaravanamuttuƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s analysis of the election results of the North and East ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚«ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ as an indication of the trajectory of politics to come ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚»ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  is lopsided.

If it is a separate Homeland, that may of course be what the TNA wants but not the poor Tamil man in the Street, or the poor farmer in the field wants.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is enough talking of a Tamil Homeland which had been going on for over thirty years. And to rescue the people fromƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  this demand of an impossible homeland concept floated by Prabhakaran the terrorist, many young lives have been sacrificed and many valuable people have given their lives.

We cannot repeat this process all over again.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The TNA should understand that even the 13th Amendment is not valuable any longer. It is no more worth even the paper on which it was written. It was included in to the Constitution ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ for reason of exigence to facilitateƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the Indian Peace Keeping Force to settle the question of terrorism in Sri Lanka.

Since terrorism has now been eliminated, the 13th Amendment is not valid any more.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It should be removed from the constitution once and for all and North and East of Sri Lanka should have the same Local Government Administration as in the South.

Sri Lanka can no more be dividedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  according to Communities, even if the TNAƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  has got an overwhelming victory.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is time for the members of the TNA to become patriotic politicians of Sri Lanka.

Why is the White West so keen to ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- punishƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ Sri Lanka for the elimination of terrorists ?

Having analysed the reasons for the Tamils in the North and East to understand why theyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  repudiatedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the Government Candidates at the Local Government elections ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ for ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- what they stand for and what they have doneƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  let us turn to the White West as to why they take umbrage making absurd accusation ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  atrocities and war crimes to the President of Sri Lanka and Government Armed Forces for the elimination of terrorism.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

The White West too are God worshippers.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They seek atonement ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ for their sins by prayers and appealing to the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- Grace of God ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Therefore, they too do not understand real human feelingsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and human actions and therefore unable to relate to them as human beings.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They unlike the Tamils do not understand suffering.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The White WestƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  acts as if they have had a divine revelation, that they have been sent to this world to put things right, put some order to man made chaos.

The White West therefore think of themselves ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ as divine messengers, like the ones the God sent to Sodom and Gomorrah . The White West presumes that it cannot be accused forƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  wrongs ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ for whichƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  itƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  could accuse ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and punish the other humans-the scum of the earth.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

For instance human rights violation, and atrocities committed by the armies of the White West in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya areƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  for it ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ righteous acts , which are in the course of the performance of its tasks according to its ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Divine Call.

The Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, UN, UK Channel 4, Catholic ChurchƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and all that caboodle assume that they ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ are performing divine tasks.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The death of civilians in the performance of these tasks are collateral and the other humans have no right to question them.

That is how things are seen in finer and deeper analysis of the ways of the Tamils in the North and East without gratitude to providers of comfort and facilities, voting for the phantoms of the past terrorism the TNA, and why the White West takes umbrage against Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  for eliminating terrorism ,whichƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  caused untold suffering to the people for 30 long years.

Despite all that the Sinhala people along with friendly Communities in the SouthƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  will continue to show their compassion to the misled Tamils in the North and East as they are after all their own people, sharing their own motherland, and ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ will face the White West as best as they ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ can.

  1. Lorenzo Says:

The real reasons for their mentality are the following.

    1. Rule of thumb: TAMILS CAN NEVER BE SATISFIED SO STOP APPEASING THEM.

    2. Tamils on both sides of the sea are the same (no disrespect). They simply are the same. They are blood relatives sharing the same culture. They ALWAYS vote for RACIST politics. That is INGRAINED in them. You cannot change that.

    e.g. In SL.
1947 (even before independence) – TAMIL congress
1952 – TAMIL congress, TAMIL kachchi
    1956 – TAMIL kachchi
1960 – TAMIL congress, TAMIL kachchi
1960 – TAMIL congress, TAMIL kachchi
1965 – TAMIL congress, TAMIL kachchi
1970 – TAMIL congress, TAMIL kachchi
    1977 – TAMIL front
    1994 – EPDP clean up!
2000 – disturbances ensured T racists were kept under check.
    2001 – TAMIL front
    2004 – TAMIL alliance
    2010 – TAMIL alliance

    In Tamil Nadu

Since 1967 despicable DRAVIDIAN racist parties have won all the elections.

The next general elections in northern SL and TN will win the following parties.

    SL (north) – TAMIL alliance/etc.
    TN – DRAVIDA kazagham/etc.

Unless we fully understand this fact (FACT, FACT, FACT) without blaming them for it (Its their choice. We MUST respect it), this problem cannot be resolved. Northern SL should be saved from Tamil racist political parties and their voters using whatever means legal.

  2. Sarath W Says:

I hope the president won’t waste too much time and money just to please these ungrateful people and neglect the poor people in the south and other parts of Sri Lanka who made so many sacrifices to defeat the LTTE terrorist. He should let the Tamil diaspora who funded the war and brought misery to so many of their own people.

Historically the Tamils wanted the best places in the universities, (we all know how they cheated to get there) the best jobs and the North and the East (for now, and all of Sri Lanka to create the Tamil state) They tried to take over Uganda, Kenya and Fijji and got kicked out of those countries. In Malaysia and Singapore they won’t try because those government will not tolerate them.

The government should do more for the people who elected it or the ugly head of JVP will rise again.

  3. Charles Says:

There are various personal reasons for that – political necessity, anxiety, inadequecy of confidence etc;, but basically they are of the Buddhist Culture.

  4. thurai Says:

Mentality of Tamils must be changed. Otherwise they destroy themself. Even they are Hindus and Catholics
their habits are same. They love their God more than their own people. TNA & LTTE say love Tamil
language more than your life. That means TNA and LTTE organisers live better life than other Tamils who
belive and support them. The situation in the North and east created by Tamils and not by SLG. TNA and LTTE
accuse the SLG for their own benefit not for Tamils. Mr. Thirumavalan Chief of Thalit in Tamilnadu
support LTTE. why? Has he won all rights for the Thalit community who suffers for the longtime under Hindu Highcast in Tamilnadu? But Mr. Thirumavalavan reached as Millionaire by use the name of Thalith.
LTTE organisers also reached as Millionares within Diaspora Tamils in the age of 40 years. TNA also trying to
do the same in the North and east by getting more rights and power.

    Dear Mr. Charles S. Perera!

Very thought provoking article. I couldn’t agree with you more. As I mentioned in my responses to yours & similar valuable cntributions by others……as in the CASE OF Canada & Province of Quebec..the similarities are immense. As one of the Quebec separatists said..WHEN ASKED by Canadians WHAT THE H**LL Qubec want.?? We have given to you,so much compared to other provinces in Canada, yet you people in Quebec are not satisfied.

Then FINALLY.. this arrogant Quebec leader said.. I will tell you what we want.!!.G”ET AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, fatten our coffers even at the expense of rest of CANADA(WHICH IS OVERHELMENLY ) against giving anymore..& he concluded after that.. “WE SEPERATE”.

Now is it not the LTTE proxy organization wants & needs. To get as much as possible from President Mahinda Rajapaksha & THEN SEPERATE. Now even in Sri Lanka, we do not have a laws / conditions under which a referrandum can be held(Clarity Act) BUT we too have in Sri Lanka a Soveriegn State, elected many times over with majorities, to ask & state that THE MAJORITY Sinhalese population & other minorties MUST be satisfied for any Govt. to GRANT anymore to TAMIL people.

As most other parties in Sri Lanka have said ” any political solution” must be acceptable to the majority & should have unequical supprt & BLESSINGS of other communities.

This is why Sri Lanka, should BAN any political or other affiliated oorganizations contest elections, if their maifestos, PARTY NAMES consists of words of seperation, or TAMIL names, slogans that perpetuate seperation EVEN under democratic norms.

We are ONE NATION, as American OATH says.. ONE NATION, UNITED, INDEVISIBLE, ALLEGENCE TO ONE FLAG, INDISTRUCTABLE , under GOD ( in our case its Lord Buddha).. Now we can change the emphasis on GOD as our Sri lanka, is a multi ethnic, muti cultural/multi religious society. However the basic premise is similar to American oath.

I commend you for enlightening us with such valuable contributions. As you have asked I feel, OUR president should carry on more development work BUT never cave into threats from local & so called Intl. Commnuity which is INDIA. They armed & nurtured LTTE & ultimately LTTE killed the same people who supported & nurtured them.

Thanks again Sir…Looking forward to see more articles that are important to our well being as a NATION.

Our thanks to Mr Charles Perera for yet again writing on this problem.

To understand Northern Tamil mentality in Sri Lanka, first analyze the Dalit (Untouchable) Tamil culture of Tamil Nadu. It was the low castes or rather Tamil people with Dalit roots in Tamil Nadu who were/are denied education, land ownership, denied entry into kovils, etc. They are the ones who flee Tamil Nadu. They are trapped forever, it seems, in their mental prisons of low caste or even casteless mentality. In their insecurity, they will move en masse toward the promised ’emancipation/liberation’ by TNA or any other ‘Tamil only’ bound political party. Note that the ltte stands for ‘liberation tamil tigers of eelam’. In turn, it is obvious that the TNA mono-ethnic politics are dangerous to the rest of Sri Lanka.

Here are some ideas to guide us out of the present impasse.

    (1) To get rid of the emotional prisons of Tamil peoples “Tamil Only” mentality, GoSL must enact laws to make illegal political parties with the Tamil name tag attached to it. Till then the South will be forever held hostage to various games of Tamil political leaders. No real psychological progress will be made by the ordinary Tamils to integrate with the rest of society here, even with rapid Development.

    (2) Teach English as a strong second language which can be link language in Sri Lanka. English is a world language and the main language of the computer too, so that educating the public will be an easier task.

    (3) Encourage the formation of a ‘state’ within Tamil Nadu (Nilgiri Mt. surrounds) as a Homeland for all Tamil Diaspora.

    (4) The Hindu triad of main gods is Brahma, Vishnu & Shiva (not Krishna. Krishna is the Teacher/Guru in the allegorical tale Bhagavad Gita). The real HInduism consists of the 4 Yogas i.e. Bhakthi Yoga, Kriya Yoga, Gnana Yoga, & lastly and most importantly, Raj Yoga (Union with God/Truth through Meditation). Usually, all the Yogas are practised together in some degree or the other to bring in total Union with the Godhead/Truth within, or Self Realisation. It is time to teach the real Hinduism to all Tamils and interested others.

Basically, the Tamil leaders demands are like a patient going to a doctor and saying “I don’t want to know what the disease is but give me a pill to make me feel like a VIP, get me rich quick & get my other needs together too – and don’t criticize me for whatever I do to cause the disease to worsen’ !!
In a nutshell, Tamil caste problems have been thrown at the rest of Lanka to solve fast. This is a 3,000 yr old problem starting with the Laws of Manu that were enacted to ensure the longevity of the Caste System tied to the Hindu religion. Not even Mahatma Gandhi could resolve this problem and it was a problem that existed in India even when the Buddha walked the earth. So don’t lets hold our breath for quick results, though now is the right time for emancipation of Tamils (and others in India) from caste bound problems. The Brits, the churches & the rest of the west merely exploit this situation to control India and any others who fall into this ambit of caste bound weaknesses.

Above written with intent to help only. No hurt intended here, and please pardon use of words in a direct manner to get the message through.

It will take a long time to rehabilitate the Tamil people to thinking of themselves as “equal” to the Sinhalese and to feel a sense of empowerment. The Tamil masses have been conditioned into accepting their own leaders without question and have been ready to elevate the latter to the statues of Gods. Their ignorance was exploited by the LTTE leaders to accept pain and suffering as their lot. The Gods have to be appeased through endurance of pain and the readiness to suffer. So there is a psychological element that no amount of appeasement and kindness will alleviate. They do not understand kindness and compassion and consider such gestures with little importance or gratitude. This characteristic was etched clearly in an incident related to me by a friend.
During the 1983 riots in Colombo, a Sinhala friend of ours who lived in Wellawatta was deeply affected by the wanton destructive attacks on Tamils. He decided among other things he did, to also help a fellow officer, a Tamil who lived close to his house and who used to take the bus daily to the same office in Fort. So he offered a lift in his car to and fro, and it was accepted and this went on for weeks. The Sinhala man also did the grocery shopping for the Tamil family during this period as the latter were too scared to get out of the house. After things settled down and the “lifts” came to a point of being discontinued, on their last run, the Tamil officer had thanked our Sinhala friend, at which point the latter had said “Please, you don’t have to thank me….I’m sure you would do the same for me if I were in a similar situation in Jaffna “…to which there was an extended silence after which the Tamil man said “I don’t think so…my community would not allow me to”.
This illustrates well the situation. We have to accept this truth. Sri Lanka has to go ahead and do what is Right and is needed by the country as a whole. We should not expect anything in the way of gratitude, for that is NOT part of the Tamil psyche. Gratitude if at all, will be to their Gods.

Gratitude if at all, will be to their Gods.

    dear gamunu 6,

India is intentional community? You do not like Indian and that’s fine, anybody can agree with you in that matter, but you prefer American. did you forget so fast what American did lately.

  10. jayt Says:

one more question when American European support Sri lanka? Do you any proof.

  11. Marco Says:

Simple at a grass root level!
Terrorist proxy or mobster terrorising the simple folk wishing to get their life back together?

It does not take much to realise TNA got the vote thanks the Douglas Devananda

  12. Fran Diaz Says:

Sri Lankan leaders of all hues have visited different religious places of worship from time immemorial. What is so strange about the present day leaders doing the same ? I would think that this is an act to show religious Unity in this land.

Sinhala Kings of the past even built Hindu Kovils. Today (19th Aug) news states that two Kovils have been built by Southerners in the North. We wish that all other religions showed the same tolerance toward Buddhism.

  13. Bodhi Says:

Charles has missed the analysis given by Sebastian Rasalingam:
    http://www.srilankaguardian.org/2011/07/local-elections-in-north-futile.html

The Local elections in the North, a futile exercise without prior Land Reform.

(July 29, Toronto, Sri Lanka Guardian) The Tamil National Alliance (TNA), the Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF), and the UPFA (The united People’s Freedom Alliance), as well as fringe parties like the United National party (UNP), the Jingoist Vimukthi Pakshaya (JVP), and the Moslem’s Party have contested the local elections of the north. It is with utter shame that I note that the “Tamil” parties have failed to shed their communal names, and continue with the old Racist labels, even in the 21st century.

Although the UPFA has made some in-roads (25%) into the voter base of the North, the Racist Tamil parties have largely prevailed, while the UNP, the jingoist-Marxist-JVP, and the Muslim party have lost totally.

Political analysts writing in the south have as usual failed to note what has happened. The acronym TNA actually stands for “Thamil Namptiri Alliance”, and the Namptiri are the descendants of high-caste Malabars who are today snobbish enough to imagine that they are the Brahmins who are destined to rule over the rest (80%) of the landless Sri Lankan Tamils – depressed Tamils. What about the TULF? The acronym stands for “Thamil United Landlords Front”. This too is a cabal of the landed or privileged gentry. Even when they sponsor a “depressed-clas” Tamil in elections, it is done just for show. They do NOT represent the majority of the Tamils who are poor in one way or another.

    ………..etc.

  14. Charles Says:

    Bodhi

Thank you for the reference for Sebastian Rasalingam’s article. I missed it as I now do not go to the Sri Lanka Guardian website.

There are great people who write with wisdom and knowledge. The other three I admire are Dr. Noel Nadesan, Selva Gnanam and Thomas John Pulle.

Their articles appeared in the Sri Lanka Guardian on the dates given within brackets. I think they are fit to be Ambassadors to represent Sri Lanka in Foreign Missions abroad.

1: Let my people go in Peace by Dr.Noel Nadesan (30.8.2008)

2: Open the gates of hell and let my people go by Selva Gnanam (4.9.2008), and

3: Tamil Racism is older than 1956 by Thomas John Pulle (4.9.2008)

  15. ranjith Says:

Tamils’ racial mentality cannot be erased forever. That mentality was well founded by racist Chelvanayagam, Amirthalingam, Ramanathan, Sampanthan to terror proxy TNA’s, etc. This hatred mentality against Sinhalese will not easily disappear.

Tamils blood especially in North soaked with racial parasites. This appears from their attitude and unsocial behaviour. We can easily identify the writings published by the Lankaweb – from any tamil writer from that background. They pretend to be Sri Lankan patriots – actually they need separation from Sri Lanka.

Some tamil diaspora writers work in media at home in different names and they operates in overseas in different names. They are tamil terrorists’ sympathisers. Their tamil newspapers always support separation from Sri Lanka.

The government wastes its time and energy to develop the North, while Sinhalese in rural areas suffer enormous difficulties. No one cares about that.

This website too has been engulfed with tamils from upper castes, RAW agents in different names. They gradually turn the mentality of our readers to suit their masters.

  16. Kit Athul Says:

Ranjit, you hit the note right. The comment writers try to take mian theam the author presented in the article and changes it by focusing the attention of the reader to a different subject. I can sniff a RAW agent very well. They get paid for putting disinformation. Lanka Guardian (owner Sarath Silva, former CJ) is one of them, and Transcurrents is another. One can see the same name comment writer differs his opinion on Lankaweb, transcurrents and Lanka Guardian. Now what will stop Jayalalitha of becoming the prime minister of INDIA? Nothing! Hans Christian Anderson was a story teller in amusement parks in Denmark. He went on to be the Prime Minister of Denmark.

  17. Kit Athul Says:

What Sinhala does not know is, who the “TAMIL NADU TAMILS”? Dr. Amerasekar’s excellent article “Tamil Problem” does not cover the very problem that TAMIL NADU TAMILS create in Sri Lanka. Who did King Dutugamunu go to war with?

    1. Tamil Nadu Tamil Problem should be addressed not by the Rajapakse Administration, but by SINHALA at all levels of the society. The rich, the affluent middle class and the poor village peasants. The above notion cannot be understood if one does not go back to the time when the surrender to the British occurred. This is a generation gap issue. It will take some time for the current generation to understand the MAY 19th 2011 VICTORY if the above is not clearly defied and excepted. This occurrence of the surrender to the British must be researched by the education department and a curriculum must be produced that can be understood and taught at various levels of education, the elementary, middle and high school. Parliamentarians must discuss this in the parliament and pass a resolution for the minister of higher education to produce a document showing how this subject will be taught at every school. Once this resolution is passed , then the President should mandate to the minister of higher education implement it without delay.

  18. Fran Diaz Says:

Kit Athul: You may find the book “In the Days of Sri Wickremarajasingha – the Last King of Kandy” by Dolapihilla very interesting in the context of the surrender to the British. The role of then kingmaker Chief Adigar Pilimatallawa is prominent and tragic. It was his unholy ambition for the Throne that caused the downfall of the nation …… ambition without real ability & sincerity does not mix well – a real lesson here.

  19. Kit Athul Says:

Fran, thanks, I will try to get this book. At that time every thing was confusing like the time when Rajiv Gandhi wrote the 13th and 17th for Sri Lanka Constitution. All the Dirty stinking dark skinned Tamil Nadu Tamils (Quote by Maureen Chao, US Vice Consul) wanted was to brake the one man one vote Republic and creat the Parliamentry system again, so the annexation will be made easy.
