If These Are The President’s Stooges Whose Stooge Are You Pearl Thevanayagam Or Are Your Transparencies Already Visible?

As posted October 01,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  from London, in theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sri Lanka Guardian, a writer by name ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Pearl Thevenayagam has bold asked “ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ What do Tamara Kunanayakam, Douglas Devananda and Dayan Jayetilleka have in common?” sheƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ then goes on to suggest that “ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ None of these know their identity. Tamara is certainly not a Tamil from the North and East and Douglas and Dayan have yet to identify their fathers.” and to cover herƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ liabilities she says it is not intended to castƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ an aspersion towardsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ identity as though the readers of such items are ignoramuses.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is a bold reference to identity and origin and the credibilities related.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
This is an item so full of malice and anti Sri Lankan Government propaganda which sticks out like a sore thumbƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that itƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ needs to be put into properƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ perspectiveƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ . And to cap it all up, leaving aside the morality and the logic of it all relative to free thought the Sri Lankan Guardian instead of being guarded ( no pun intended)aboutƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  most of the nonsensical gobbledygook and simplistic twaddleƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  expressed by Thevanayagam, jumps to post it and little wonder that the SLG has raised many eyebrows in the past where the intentions of posting such items barely falls short of atttempts to discredit the Government as well as being brought to task by the Government onceƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ for just this lapse or deliberate attempts to mislead in the past ( a coomon practise it seems for certain “esteemed newsproviders of the day!”)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and consequently viewed by many as a dubiouslyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ shallowƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ one perhaps quite linkable to that famous Sinhala expression Kela Patthare ~Jungle Newspaper in the eyes of a certain prominent humourist bordering on a semblance of truth given the nature of this item!
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Apart fromƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ casting aspersions on their identity,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ perhaps libellous in nature also depending on how one views it, the logic of the content at times befuddles the discerning mindƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  given how garbled it is relative to rationalitiesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ where the individuals namedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and cited as “singing for their supper” are representaives of the Government who have carried out their responsibilities in an official capacity equitably and a hint of rabble rousing surfaces when she goes on to suggest that “Tamara would serve well for the Rajapakse clan in that she is a weak excuse for Tamil representation ergo( did she mean ego perchance?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ )ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ propelled into the international community as an apologist for the government and a pseudo representative for Tamils in general.” There is a distinct air of frustration in her comment as she continues “That Tamara speaks a few western lingos is nothing to write home about. As a Tamil refugee in the West she had to learn a few European languages.” So why Tamil refugeesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ only ? when it is the expectation of everyone seeking a new life in the West relative to circumstance and locationƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ where the expectation to learn a few European languages sounds like a load of rubbish inless demanded by a high seat of educational learning and entirely a personal choice in an applicable capacity only!!
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
To say thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ “refugee children nowadays speak fluent English, Swiss, Dutch, Deutsche and French not unlike our Colombo kids who are tri-lingual in English, Sinhala and Tamil.” a very bold albeit confusedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ assertion with hardly an awareness of how multilingualƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Sri Lanka students are today and perhaps always have beenƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  relative to those given the right direction and opportunities where quite a number of them were fluent in the classical languages as well as their mother tongue and the concept of slightingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the relativities needing to be distinctly trashed! Of course one has to consider the ratio of population to the volume of availability towards the acquisition through obvious meansƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ which does not merit aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ rational conclusion unless it is a feeble attempt to justify her almost myopic rationale and better off guarding her tongue or risk getting laughed at!
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
She goes on next in the manner of a runaway train careening out of control towards impending disaster that would surely jeopardise her own credibilities as well as whatever career she is immersed in when quite insipidly she dares suggest that “It is only expected that a non-career diplomat such as Tamara would berate a UN high official such as Navi Pillai that she is inefficient.” Navi Pillai it must be said,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a South African Tamil noted for her covert Tamil Tiger sympathies andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ well versed inƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the related rhetoric she has earned a reputation for. SheƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ is not a role model for Sri Lankans to adulate by any stretch of the imagination and aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ outspoken anti Sri lankan dissentor by and largeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ given herƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  related meanderings in her official capacity. SheƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ appears to beƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ another individual in high office and part of the bandwagon attempting to retaliate on behalf of Tamil Tiger sympathetic diasporaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  as well as certain western leaders linked to the same objective but going nowhere with little or no tangible evidence to backƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  it allƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ up and a cacophonous Ban Ki Moon sycophant.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Funnily enoughƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Thevanayagam’s ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  former Maths tutor whom she has cited as sayingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ” you know so little that you do not know that you know so little.” was probably right in that it seems to have perfectly portrayed the meaning of “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing”ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ which she seems to inexorably display in her mindset.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
The insinuation that “Tamara was catapulted to a very high office in such a short time andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that she truly believes she is sine qua non for the government. Little does she realise that she would be discarded like a dish rag once she served the purpose of the government not unlike Varatharajaperumal.” once again blatantly displays the Vethanayagam frustrations somewhat pathetically and speculatively.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
In her quoting the saying ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ `Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ itƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ seems to open the floodgates of her frustrations where neither Tamara’s nor Varatharajperumal’s ( an individual she has used as an example)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  circumstances bear anyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ relevance or justification towardsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ her anticipated derision towards a positive outcome relative to the present Government.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ For theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  record Varatharajaperumal, son of a gram seller, was indeedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ feted by Premadasa as NE governor for a very brief period in the late 90ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s and with the backing of the IPKF (Indian peace-keeping Force) he was evicted from his position with indecent haste and had to seek succour in India but these events transpired during the regime of the UNP which was displaced by the present administrationƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and attests to Thevanayagam’s incapacity to comprehend the importance of why the UNP was displaced perhaps never to return as any contending political force in the near future. She seems to have her wires crosees in this respect!
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Quoting her enthusiasm to record that “the IPKF actually managed to capture the LTTE leader and chose to set him free possibly due to pressure from the Indian Government which was playing double-edged politics was lost on Varatharajaperumal who for one brief period was elevated to a position of prominence as chief minister of NE provinces which he never dreamed of in his entire life-time.” it is once again a reference to what transpired during the UNP incumbency and inapplicable to the mendacious attempts hereƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to discredit the Government of H.E. Mahinda Rajapaksha towards which analogy she does not have a shred of evidence nor argument towards similarities of policy. Rantings surely of a misguided mind bordering on an incomprehensible capacity to rationalise relativelyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  what the world in general views as a remarkable regime which against all odds has set Sri Lanka on a direct course towards prosperity and posterity.

Now comes the icing on the cake of her frustrations in saying “Then of course there is Pillayan, Karuna and KP who now enjoy fame beyond their belief but who would be fed to the lions as LTTE criminals once they serve the purpose of the Rajapakses. The trio should be making contingency plans before they are hauled up before the international war crimes tribunal to thwart the governmentƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s own direct complicity in war crimes against the indigenous minority Tamils in the last two years when the war against the LTTE ended. That their honeymoon is nearing an end is not lost among Tamils who know only too well how successive governments use lame ducks such as these suckers to achieve their ends.” where little needs to be said about the reference to animated frustrations portrayed hereƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ of an individual whio in all probabilities missed out on the rewards of being supportive of the Rajapaksha AdministrationƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ seen through her brow beating here!
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
She fails to envision the strategic wisdom of the Rajapaksha Administration in involving the likes of Messers Devananda, Karuna and Pillayan towards the reconciliation process of interracial healing where there are many discerning Tamils who unconditionally approve of the selective choice of these individuals who have relented their past and thrown in their lot with the Government. She also apathetically perhaps fails to perceive the manner in which the ever pragmatic President has successfully created an environment of content and accepted merging towards interracial harmony which generations of politicians in Sri Lanka never accomplished.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Perhaps it is her inveterate wish that these incredible Tamils now appointed to polical officeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  who played such a strategic role in the defeat of Tamil Tiger terrorism in Sri Lanka would eventually be discarded or mistreated by the Administration and wishful thinking on her part as it seems hardly likely that they would lose momentum and the respect of the political hierarchyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to which they are inextricably linked through their loyalties. They command special respect from the President as well as many Sri lankans irrespective of their ethnic identity as these are True Sri lankans who have helped the cause of the Nation whose efforts alongside the rest of the team which conquered Tamil Tiger terrorismƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  have been rewarded and will remain etched in stone, idiosyncratic fallibilities of certain enemies of the State and skeptics who continue to maintain a hardline against themƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ mostly from within, notwithstandingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ .

The following inadmissable tirade by Thevanayagam made from the safe haven where she languishes and continues her anti Sri Lankan Government rantingsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ intended to incite perhaps needs punitive action from an official capacityƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ as it is character assassination of one of Sri Lanka’s prominent youngƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ intellectuals often misunderstood for his sense of patriotism and controversial views about how to maintain the solidarities required to keep a turbulent Nation such as Sri Lanka intact.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
While he obviously has his critics and adversaries he has nonethelessƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ contributed greatly towards this regardless of how impurely the likes of Thevenayagam and her ilk view him and perhaps a bitter pill to swallow regarding his accomplishments and how the President respects him.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
This is a bold affront bordering on slander where much of it needs challenging for authenticity and tangible proof!ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ~ “DayanƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s dilly-dallying with Tamil militants and his guerrilla training in South America in the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”80ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s left him disenchanted and disillusioned in that he did not receive the prominence he hoped to achieve. DayanƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s shameless glorification of Tamara as a versatile and diplomatic representative of the Tamils has nothing to do with elevating her into prominence. It is all to do with courting her for his own self-aggrandisement.”

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Tamara is a step-ladder for his own promotions and he is being heaped diplomatic posts willy-nilly thanks to his unswerving sucking up to the regime to the point that he would wash the rear ends of the Rajapakses as long as he has the diplomatic perks and prestige. In essence he is a weak excuse for a diplomat if one could call him that.
His next move was to co-operate with any government in power and MahindaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s government was ready for his sort of sycophancy; it was desperate to clutch at any straw to save its back from the allegations of war crimes which are being taken up for scrutiny by the international community.

Now, the clock is ticking and even Mahinda Samarasinghe, the Lankan envoy to the UN on human rights issues who is well-known for bed-hopping from one power to the next, is weakening at his knees and sending worrying messages that the government should do more to exonerate itself from war crimes.

Why should the government worry when it eradicated terrorism on this soil? Pray why does it need the likes of Tamaras, Dayans or Douglases who have only one thing as their objective which is to gain some prominence and financial security for their future. They neither care for the people of this country nor do they wish for a united Sri Lanka.

The only explanation is that Mahinda government too subscribes to the methodology of these trio. They want to secure their own familyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s fortune for the future and to hell with the populace. At least SWRD with all his Sinhala racism sold his own assets to protect the Sinhala race. Mahinda Inc. on the other hand is selling the nation to enthrone his own his family as the inheritors and rulers of the modern Sinhala nation. And we are the suckers who voted them in.”
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
If this is notƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ character assasination at its worst, subtleties notwithstanding ( there arent any realistically speaking!)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ it atƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ leastƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ needs to be viewedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ intrinsically about where this writer is coming from, what her objectives are and also ponder upon the all important question “So whose stooge is she?” the answer which ske knows fully well given the source that has carried this item as well as theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  unguarded berating of three individuals who have contributed to the progress of Sri Lanka in recent times more that the writer as well asƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ her publisherƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ could ever dream of. Given the negative nature of the content almost as though this was a personal vendetta with the distinct flavour of aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ tiradeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  based on personal frustrations, her Tamil Tiger sympathies if one reads between the lines andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ conducted from her safe haven in the UKƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ , this item carries no significance towards the progress of the Sri Lankan Administration and hardly worth paying attention to in this respect beyond contestation of its bold and affrontive nature.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
In conclusion one wonder what the motivations might beƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  forƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ suggesting thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ” These Are The PresidentƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Stooges ” to which an appropriate response might beƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ” So Whose Stooge Are You Pearl Thevanayagam Or Are YourƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Related Transparencies Already Visible?

Things went very well at the UN thanks to these 3 persons. That is why the LTTE stooge Pearl Thevenayagam is so upset.

    Understandable.

  2. Cyril D Says:

We all know the debating skills of Dr Dayan Jayatilleka and Tamara Kunanayakam.

So let’s see what Pearl Thevenayagam can do in front of her supporters. Watch from 74:33 – 76:45.

Thanks Cyril D for the video. It gives insight to what these idiots were thinking at that time. Peral Thevanayagam was a regular commentator in “Transcurrents”. a web site run by DBS Jayaraj. Her views are known to be anti-Sri Lankan and pro-LTTE. She is a scatter brain, her knowledge of modern Sri Lankan history is much to be desired. She should not be taken seriously.

I was taken aback when she mentioned about Bandaranaike-Chelvanayagam pact. She made sure the Prime minister was called Banda, and that tell all about her mindset.

    Dear Lankaweb,

I have never been anybody’s stooge and I have not surrendered my journalistic credentials neither for political gains nor power.

The fact that I can write boldly and without fear is due to my impeccable credentials as an honest and intrepid journalist.

To date I have not profited from NGOs local or international.

By the way, I was never a regular contributor to Transcurrents. I differ from DBS in my views and I do not subscribe to his way of journalism

I stand for a united Sri Lanka and I certainly do not condone violence be it state sponsored or otherwise.

I have never paid a cent towards the LTTE or the state armed forces

    Pearl Thevanayagam

  5. Lorenzo Says:

    Pearl,

You are a LTTE stooge. The whole world knows that. We know who you are.

You should stand for a UNITARY SL not a united SL.

You may watch the video provided by Cyril. What a load of BS you talk there!

Thanks to shortsighted political losers like you the LTTE leader ended up as he was on the shores of the Mualitivu beach after killing a large number of brainwashed terrorists.

  6. Lorenzo Says:

    Pearl,

FYI, there was no PM by the name “Banda”. And Chelvanayagam was an ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT to SL when our armed forces could not enforce the boundaries of this country. Had the soverignty of this country been protected then, you would not have heard of this ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT in recent history. Stop glorifying colonialism and its nasty effects on SL.

  7. Cyril D Says:

    Pearl,

If you stand for a united Sri Lanka, then you should denounce the Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE).

Why not do it here – You are among like-minded fellow Sri Lankans!
