The Lion Of God, the Almighty.

By A. Abdul Aziz.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The proclamation of the Holy Founder, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad to be the long awaited and foretold Promised Messiah was an event that caused a stir throughout India and led to a concerted campaign by opponents of every hue and cry from across the religious divide. It was an announcement that no normal person could have made without having the confidence and assurance that Allah was beside him, and would shield him from the storm and machinations of his opponents.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Lion of God, peace be on him, was surrounded by enemies who were not only bentupon destroying his mission by slandering and trying to discredit him but to kill him also.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The evangelical Christians were against him as he had proved beyond any doubt that their God; Jesus of Nazareth had died a natural death and was buried in Kashmir. By challenging the very divinity of Jesus was like taking an axe to the very roots of Christianity. These evangelicals dragged him through the courts by lodging a ludicrous and patently false case against him, accusing him of a conspiracy to murder a Christian missionary called Martin Clark. They tried their best to influence and pressurize the Christian Magistrate, Captain Douglas to convict him in the case and to sentence him to death. And yet Allah frustrated their plans and protected His warrior and honourably acquitted him against all the odds.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ At the time of the Promised Messiah all around Qadian and in Punjab the Sikhs were in majority. They are considered by many a martial race and even regard themselves as such. Qadian itself was like a small island in a vast sea of Sikhs. They are the followers of Guru Baba Nanak, the founder of Sikh religion.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, peace be on him, proved conclusively that Guru Baba Nanak was a pious Sufi Muslim. This theory enraged the Sikhs and they became his ferocious enemies. The research of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, peace be on him, that Hazrat Guru Nanak was a Muslim shook the foundation of Sikhism. One of the most precious and revered relics of Hazrat Guru Nanak, the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Chola SahibƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚, a cloak worn by him was covered in Quranic verses including the Surah Fatiha. But by pointing these facts out and pointing Sikhs towards their true roots he aroused a storm of controversy in Sikh circles.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Through the power of the pen Hazrat Mirza Sahib, peace be on him, wrote a few books in which he proved from Hindu sacred books that Hazrat Krishna was indeed a Prophet of God who believed in the one true God. He also proved that some of the Hindu teachings like Neug etc. were unworthy of praise and veneration and could not be from God. By virtue of these pronouncements he was thus bitterly opposed by the Hindus, who lost no opportunity to attack and revile the Promised Messiah but all to no avail.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ At one point the conspiracies hatched by Hindus reached the point where two Hindu magistrates promised in secret meetings of fellow Hindus that they would conspire to punish Hazrat Mirza Sahib in cases pending in their courts against him.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ A Hindu pundit and bigot by the name of Lekh Ram, and a known opponent of the Promised Messiah was stabbed to death by an unknown assassin in accordance with a prophecy of Hazrat Mirza Sahib. This made the Hindus furious and a storm of opposition was raised against him all over India. The Hindus openly declared that they would avenge the assassination of Pundit Lekh Ram. All the protest and conspiracies of the opponents of the Promised Messiah were frustrated and turned to dust as he was cleared of all involvement in the death of Lekh Ram.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ After his declaration of being the Messiah and Mahdi a large section of the bigoted Ulemas of India issued edicts that he was an apostate and punishable to be killed according to their misinterpreted teachings of Islam. These bigoted mullahs rose up in fury and tried to whip up controversy and condemnation against the Promised Messiah in the hope that he could be deflected or dissuaded from his divine mission. But the Promised Messiah had Allah beside him and was fearless in his defence of Islam from the distortions of these bigoted mullahs.

In these troubled times when fanatics of all major faiths in India were determined to kill him and also destroy his divine mission, Hazrat Ahmad remained calm and fearless. In one of his Urdu couplet he said that he was a lion of God and his enemies were like helpless jackals.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Hazrat Ahmad used to go for an afternoon stroll in the open every day. He had no armed guards with him to protect him from an attack from his enemies. There was no police or government agency in Qadian to safeguard his safety.

One day he was sitting in his mosque at Qadian encircled by his faithful followers when a stranger entered the mosque. He came close to Hazrat Ahmad and said that he wanted to convey some very disturbing news to him in private. Hazrat Ahmad asked him to talk freely in front of the congregation as they were all his faithful followers. The stranger said,

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- Huzoor! I am your most obedient follower and I live in Lahore. A few days ago I attended a secret meeting of some fanatic Muslims in a mosque. There was a fire brand Maulvi addressing them. He told his congregation that Mirza Sahib was an apostate as he called himself a subordinate Nabi (Prophet). He said that the door of revelation was closed after The Holy Prophet, Muhammad, peace be on him, for ever. The punishment of anyone claiming to be a Nabi in any sense of the word is death. He promised that anyone who would go to Qadian and kill him will go straight to Paradise.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ During his speech two or three young men stood up and pledged that they would inherit Paradise by killing Mirza SahibƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He then begged in a choking voice that the Promised Messiah, peace be on him should make special arrangements for his safety. He asked Huzoor to be extra vigilant while going for the afternoon strolls and to have some body guards with him at all times.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Hazrat Ahmad listened to him quietly. When he finished Huzoor looked at him and asked him to sit down. Huzoor then addressed the congregation in a loud voice and said,

ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Why should I be afraid of these people? Every evening when I put my head down on a pillow to sleep, Allah whispers to me and keeps on whispering to me all night, saying, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Do not be afraid. I am with you. I will protect you from your enemiesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.

Huzoor then said in an emotional tone that Allah was with him. He will protect him. His enemies will never succeed in killing him. All their designs would be frustrated.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Each time that the Promised Messiah faced danger either physically or through assaults against his character and reputation, winged chariots from Allah rode to his assistance and destroyed his enemies and defended his honour. Allah honours those who honour Him, and the Promised Messiah was an arch lover of Allah and the Holy Prophet, and was the lion of Allah. He was protected by a phalanx of angels who had been sent by Allah to protect him in his time of need.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The destruction of the Promised MessiahƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s enemies were a sign from Allah that he was His chosen one and had the hand of Allah guiding and protecting him throughout his life.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I ask to those who oppose the Ahmadiyya Muslim jamaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢at to ponder over this incident. Why had the enemies of the Promised Messiah been defeated so badly and why were all their plans to destroy the JamaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢at or kill him so utterly frustrated? Are these not signs from Allah himself that the Promised Messiah was indeed the righteous one, and the one whose advent we have all been waiting for ???

  1. Deen Says:

    You see, Mr Azeez, we and Ahmadi Muslims worldover are a great witness to the truth of this. False cannot exist for a long time.
    Hazrath Mirza Gulam Ahmad (Alai) claimed to be the Promised Messiah more than a century ago in a small hamlet in Qadian. Only a few accepted him at that time, but now the truth has spread in heaps and bounds in more than 190 countries of the world of law abiding and peaceful citizen serving the humanity. May God enable the Muslim world to ponder over this.

  2. abdulrahman Says:

    Who is True Imam Mahdi?

    Any one who sees an optical illusions declares himself a Mahdi. Like Mirza Gulam Ahmed Qadiyaani, Syed Mohammed Jaunpuri, Wallace Fard Muhammad, Elijah Poole (Muhammed), Isa Abdullah (Dwight York’s The Ansaarullah Cult), Abdullah Al-Harari Al-Habashi, Deviant Groups like Baha’is, Shi’ah etc. There are many who have called themselves Mahdi, How much Mahdivis we have had already and how much more are waiting in the wing? Allaah can only help us from these so called Mehdis, it is really becoming difficult to make a choice when we receive them left, right and centre. When someone has a personality disorder, he talks strange things and then, visualising the natural reaction of the people, automatically becomes paranoid and seeks refuge elsewhere.

    Arrival of the “Promised Messiah” has not made life any easier for us. We were mendicants and we will ever remain mendicants.

    Many have claimed that they are Imam Mahdi. The list is big out which few I have mentioned above, Many Muslims have been trapped by this claim. Let us see what Holy Prophet Muhammad had said about the coming of Imam Mahdi.

    There are saheeh Ahaadeeth that indicate that the Mahdi (peace be upon him) will appear at the end of time. He is one of the signs of the Hour. Among these ahaadeeth are the following:

    Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri reported that the Messenger of Allaah (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) said: “At the end of the time of my ummah, the Mahdi will appear. Allaah will grant him rain, the earth will bring forth its fruits, he will give a lot of money, cattle will increase and the ummah will become great. He will rule for seven or eight years. (Mustadrak al-Haakim, 4/557-558; he said: this is a hadeeth whose isnaad is saheeh, Al-Dhahabi agreed with him, and al-Albaani said: this is a saheeh sanad, and its men are thiqaat (trustworthy), Silsilat al-ahaadeeth al-saheehah, vol. 2, p. 336, hadeeth 771)

    The world will not come to pass until a man from among my family, whose name will be my name, rules over the Arabs. (Tirmidhi Sahih, Vol. 9, P. 74; Abu Dawud, Sahih, Vol. 5, P. 207; also narrated by Ali b. Abi Talib, Abu Sa’id, Umm Salma, Abu Hurayra)

    Abdullaah ibn Mas’ood reported that the Prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) said: “The world will not come to an end until the Arabs are ruled by a man from my family whose name will be the same as mine.” (Musnad Ahmad, 5/199, hadeeth 3573. Another version says: “… whose name is the same as mine and whose father’s name is the same as my father’s.” Sunan Abi Dawud, 11/370).

    Allah will bring out from concealment al-Mahdi from my family and just before the day of Judgment; even if only one day were to remain in the life of the world, and he will spread on this earth justice and equity and will eradicate tyranny and oppression. (Musnad Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, Vol. 1, P. 99)

    Even if only a day remains for Qiyamah to come, yet Allah will surely send a man from my family who will fill this world with such justice and fairness, just as it initially was filled with oppression. (Abu Dawood)

    The promised Mahdi will be among my family. God will make the provisions for his emergence within a single night. (Ibn Majah, Sahih, Vol. 2, P. 519)

    ‘Ali (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) said: ‘The Mahdi is one of us, a member of my family. Allaah will guide him in a single night.’” (Musnad Ahmad, 2/58, hadeeth 645, edited by Ahmad al-Shaakir, who said: its isnaad is saheeh; Sunan Ibn Maajah, 2/1367. This hadeeth was also classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer, 6735). Ibn Katheer said: “This means that Allaah will forgive him, grant him help, inspire him and guide him, when he was not like this before.” (Al-Nihaayah, al-Fitan wa’l-Malaahim, 1/29; edited by Taha Zayni).

    The promised Mahdi will be among my progeny, among the descendants of Fatima. (Abu Dawud, Sahih, Vol. 2, P. 207; Ibn Majah, Sahih, Vol. 2, P. 519)

    Umm Salamah said: “I heard the Messenger of Allaah (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) say: ‘The Mahdi is of my lineage and family, from the descendants of Faatimah.’” (Sunan Abu Dawud, 11/373; Sunan Ibn Maajah. 2/1368. Al-Albaani said that it is saheeh in Saheeh al-Jaami, 6734)

    The Mahdi will be of my family, of the descendants of Fatima (the Prophet’s daughter). (Sunan Ibn Majah, Vol. 2, Tradition No. 4086)

    Al-Mahdi is one of us, the members of the household (Ahlul-Bayt). (Sunan Ibn Majah, Vol. 2, Tradition No. 4085)

    Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri said: “The Messenger of Allaah (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) said: ‘The Mahdi is of my lineage, with a high forehead and a long, thin, curved nose. He will fill the earth with fairness and justice as it was filled with oppression and injustice, and he will rule for seven years.’” (Sunan Abi Dawud, Kitaab al-Mahdi, 11/375, hadeeth 4265; Mustadrak al-Haakim, 4/557; he said: this is a saheeh hadeeth according to the conditions of Muslim, although it was not reported by al-Bukhaari and Muslim. See also Saheeh al-Jaami, 6736).

    Our Mahdi will have a broad forehead and a pointed (prominent) nose. He will fill the earth with justice as it is filled with injustice and tyranny. He will rule for seven years. (Abu Dawud, Sahih, Vol. 2, p. 208; Fusul al-muhimma, p. 275)

    After the death of a Ruler there will be some dispute between the people. At that time a citizen of Madina will flee (from Madina) and go to Makkah. While in Makkah, certain people will approach him between Hajr-ul Aswad and Maqaame Ibraheem, and forcefully pledge their allegiance to him. Thereafter a huge army will proceed from Syria to attack him but when they will be at Baida, which is between Makkah and Madina, they will be swallowed into the ground. On seeing this, the Abdaals of Shaam as well as large numbers of people from Iraq will come to him and pledge their allegiance to him. Then a person from the Quraish, whose uncle will be from the Bani Kalb tribe will send an army to attack him, only to be overpowered, by the will of Allah. This (defeated) army will be that of the Bani Kalb. Unfortunate indeed is he who does not receive a share from the booty of the Kalb. This person (Imam Mahdi) will distribute the spoils of war after the battle. He will lead the people according to the Sunnah and during his reign Islam will spread throughout the world. He will remain till seven years (since his emergence). He will pass away and the Muslims will perform his Janazah salaat. (Abu Dawood)

    Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) said: ‘‘Eesaa ibn Maryam will descend, and their leader the Mahdi will say, “Come and lead us in prayer,” but he will say, “No, one of them should lead them as an honour to this ummah from Allaah.”’” The version narrated by Muslim says: “… Then ‘Eesaa ibn Maryam (Peace be upon him) will descend and their leader will say, ‘Come and lead us in prayer,’ but he will say, ‘No, some of you are leaders over others as an honour from Allaah to this ummah.’” (Reported by Muslim, 225)

    Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allaah (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) said: “He is one of us, behind whom ‘Eesaa ibn Maryam will pray.” (Reported by Abi Na’eem in Akhbaar al-Mahdi. Al-Albaani said it is saheeh; see al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer, 5/219, hadeeth 5796).

    According to these Reliable, Authentic, and Universally Accepted Narrations, Imam Mahdi will:

    1.Be from among the family of Prophet (SAW), among the descendants of Fatima (RA);

    2.Have a broad forehead and pointed noise;

    3.Appear in one night;

    4.Appear just before the day of judgment;

    5.Have same name as Hazrat Muhammad (SAW);

    6.Escape from Madina to Makkah where people will pledge allegiance to him;

    7.Receive pledge and help of Iraqi people;

    8.Fight in battles;

    9.Rule over the Arabs for seven or Eight years according to Sunnah;

    10.Spread justice and equity on earth;

    11.Eradicate tyranny and oppression;

    12.Lead a prayer in Makkah which Jesus (pbuh) will follow in;

    13.NOT be the same individual as the Promised Messiah (Jesus).

    14.Allaah will grant him rain, the earth will bring forth its fruits,

    15.He will give a lot of money, cattle will increase and the ummah will become great.

    16. He is one, behind whom ‘Eesaa ibn Maryam will pray.

    Did this all so called Imam Mahdis fulfilled these criteria and performed these duties?

    The ahaadeeth concerning the appearance of the Mahdi reach the level of Tawaatur in meaning (tawaatur refers to a hadeeth which was narrated by so many people through so many isnaads that it is inconceivable that they could all have agreed on a lie). The imaams and scholars of this ummah have stated this, and a few of their comments are quoted below:

    1. Al-Haafiz Abu’l-Hasan al-Aabiri said: “The mutawaatir reports from the Prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) describing the Mahdi are very many. They state that the Mahdi will be of his family, that he will rule for seven years, that he will fill the earth with justice, that ‘Eesaa ibn Maryam will emerge and help him to kill the Dajjaal, and that he will lead this ummah in prayer and ‘Eesaa will pray behind him.”

    2. Muhammad al-Barzanji said, in his book al-Ishaa’ah li Ashraat al-Saa’ah: “The major signs and the signs that will be immediately followed by the Hour: these signs are many, of which the Mahdi will be the first. Know that the ahaadeeth that have been narrated about him in various reports are numerous.” He also said: “You know that the ahaadeeth which speak of the Mahdi, his appearance at the end of time, and his lineage and descent from the Prophet (Peace & Blessings of Allaah be upon Him) via Faatimah reach the level of tawaatur in meaning, so there is no point in denying them.”

    3. Al-‘Allaamah Muhammad al-Safaareeni said: “There are so many reports which speak of the appearance of the Mahdi that they reach the level of tawaatur in meaning; they are very popular among the scholars of Sunnah and have become part of their faith.” Then he quotes a number of ahaadeeth and reports about the appearance of the Mahdi and the names of the Sahaabah from whom they were narrated: “Many reports were narrated from the Sahaabah whose names were mentioned and others whose names were not mentioned, may Allaah be pleased with them all, and from the Taabi’een after them, all of which proves that this is definitive knowledge. Belief in the appearance of the Mahdi is obligatory, as it has been confirmed by the scholars and is listed among the beliefs of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah.”

    4. Al-‘Allaamah al-Mujtahid al-Shawkaani said: “The ahaadeeth that we have come across that speak of the awaited Mahdi reach the level of tawaatur, including fifty saheeh, hasan and da’eef munjabar ahaadeeth. There are mutawaatir without a doubt; indeed they are more mutawaatir than others, according to all the standards of usool. There are also many reports from the Sahaabah that speak about the Mahdi and that reach the level of marfoo’, so there is no room for individual opinions in such an issue.”

    5. Al-‘Allaamah al-Shaykh Siddeeq Hasan Khaan said: “Even though there are different versions of reports concerning the Mahdi, they are so many that they reach the level of tawaatur in meaning. They are to be found in al-Sunan and other books of Islam.”

    6. Al-Shaykh Muhammad ibn Ja’far al-Kattaani said: “The conclusion is that the ahaadeeth narrated concerning the Mahdi are mutawaatir, as are the ahaadeeth concerning the Dajjaal and the descent of ‘Eesaa ibn Maryam, upon whom be peace.” (See Ashraat al-Saa’ah by Yoosuf ibn ‘Abdullaah al-Waabil, pp. 195-203).

    You should be aware that some liars have fabricated ahaadeeth about the Mahdi, and others have even claimed to be he, or that he belongs to a group other than Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah. Some of these “false mahdis” have tried to deceive the slaves of Allaah for some worldly gain and to distort the picture of Islaam. Some have started movements and revolutions and gathered those people and supporters whom they were able to deceive. Then they were destroyed, and their lies and falsehood were exposed. None of this affects the belief of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah in the Mahdi, upon whom be peace, and that he will undoubtedly appear and rule the earth in accordance with Islamic Sharee’ah. And Allaah knows best.

    And Now Hadith regarding the coming of Hazrat Eisa Ibne Maryam

    Mirza Gulam Ahmed being Imam Mehdi claimed that he is the Promised Messiah, Eisa Ibne Maryam also, that was prophesiced by the Holy Prophet, who he will come before the Day of Judgement. Was he correct in his claim? Let us see, what Holy Prophet SAW said about this:

    “By Him in Whose Hand is my life, Ibn Maryam (Jesus Christ) would certainly pronounce Talbiyah for Hajj or for Umrah or for both (simultaneously as a Qarin) in the valley of Rawha.” (Sahih Muslim, Book 7, No. 2877)

    “Allah will send Maseeh ibne Maryam (Messiah son of Mary). Thus he will descend near the White Eastern Minaret of Damascus, clad in two yellow sheets, leaning on the shoulders of two angels.” (Sahih Muslim, Vol. 8, P. 192-193)

    “Hazrat Masih will die after completing the duration he was destined to pass in the world and that Muslims would offer his funeral prayers and bury him next to the grave of the holy Prophet (Saws), Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) and Hazrat Umar (RA).” (Mishkat, P. 480)

    “By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, Son of Mary (Jesus) will shortly descend amongst you people (Muslims) as a just ruler and will break the Cross and kill the pig and abolish the Jizyah (a tax taken from the non-Muslims, who are in the protection, of the Muslim government). Then there will be abundance of money and no one will accept charitable gifts.” (Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 3, Book 34, No. 425)

    Mujammi Ibn Jariyah al-Ansari (RA) stated that he heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say: The son of Mary will kill the Anti-Christ (Dajjal) at the door of Ludda. (Tirmidhi and Ahmad)

    According to these Authentic and Universally accepted Hadith:

    1. The Promised Messiah is none other than Hazrat Isa bin Maryam (pbuh) (Jesus);
    2. He will descend among Muslims, near the White Eastern Minaret of Damascus, Syria, clad in two yellow sheets (dyed with saffron), while leaning on the shoulders of two angels;
    3. He will pray behind Imam Mahdi;
    4. He will fight with, chase, and kills Dajjal (the Anti-Christ) at the gate of Ludd;
    5. Messiah will rule justly according to the Laws of Islam and not Gospel;
    6. People of the Book will accept him as a Messenger of Allah (SWT) and will embrace Islam (Quran 4:159); subsequently, Cross (Christianity) and Jizyah tax (on non-Muslims) will be abolished;
    5. He will encounter attack of Gog and Magog and will be victorious;
    6. Islam and justice will rule, oppression will be eliminated, and no fighting (War) will be needed (will be abolished);
    7. Everyone will be well off and hatred, jealousy, and grudge will disappear;
    8. Messiah will perform Hajj and/or Umra;
    9. He will die after living on earth for 40 years and will be buried in a grave next to the holy Prophet (SAW).
    10. His advent is a sign for the closeness of the day of Judgment (Quran, 43:61)

    Did Mirza Ghulam Ahmed Qadiani fulfil any of these conditions, which Holy Prophet SAAW swore that they would take place?

    Was Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani, the Prophet or the Promised Messiah or Imam Mahdi?

    Read carefully these Ahaadeeth, look at the state of Muslim world. Mirza knew that he was lying about being a Prophet of God, or Promised Messiah or Imam Mahdi, because:

    Mirza was son of Chiragh Bibi, and not Son of Mary!

    He did not belong to the family of Holy Prophet SAAW.

    He never got a chance to rule the country and establish justice.

    Mirza Qadiani admitted:

    “I do not claim that I am the same Mahdi who will come according to (words of Hadith) ‘from the son of Fatima and from my progeny’ etc.” (Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya V, Roohani Khazain vol.21 p.356)

    “We admit this that several Mahdis may have come before and possibly will come in future as well and probably someone by the name of Imam Muhammad may also appear.” (Roohani Khazain vol.3 p.379)

    “It is possible and quite possible that at some time in future such Messiah may appear upon whom the literal words of Hadith (of Holy Prophet) fit, because this humble self has not come with the Reign and Command of this world, but with poverty and humility.” (Izala-e-Auham, Roohani Khazain vol 3 p.197)

    “It is possible that in future no Messiah may come. It is possible 10,000 more Messiah may come and one of them may descend in Damascus.” (Izala-e-Auham, Roohani Khazain vol 3 p.251)

    Dear Brothers! Mirza knew that he is not that Imam Mahdi, the Divine Leader that is promised by Holy Prophet SAAW, yet his followers keep insisting that he was Imam Mahdi. If he is Imam Mahdi, then obviously he miserably failed to do his job.

    Dear Readers! Mirza himself was aware that whatever he has claimed is totally against what has been mentioned by Holy Prophet Muhammad but he was so overcome by his satanic desires that he did not realize that he is committing blasphemy. He justified his claims by saying:

    “The basis for our claims is not Hadith but Quran and that Wahi which comes to me. Yes, in support we also present those Hadith which are according to Quran and DO NOT CONTRADICT MY WAHI. Rest of the Hadith, I THROW THEM AWAY LIKE A WASTE PAPER.” (Roohani Khazain vol.19 p.140)

    Dear Readers! It is clear that the founder of Ahmadiyya Movement had laid claims contradictory to Quran and Hadith. The Islamic scholars of Makkah, Madina, Cairo and the entire Muslim world declared as apostate, disbelievers, and out of the fold of Islam, him and his followers. He died 100 years ago, but his followers continue to deceive people in the name of Islam. Ignorance from Islamic teachings, and, ignorance from Mirza Ghulam and his teachings is the basic fault, which is exploited by the missionaries of Ahmadiyya. It is the duty of every Muslim to be on their guard against such deception. No Muslim should be allowed to get trapped out of ignorance. Knowingly if someone joins them, then of course there is no compulsion in religion.

    May Allah protect Muslims from the fraudulent doctrine of these Deviant Movements Like Qadiyaniyat and Mehdiviyat movement in the name of Islam. O Allah! Bring ignorant Muslims who have been trapped by them, back to the fold of Islam, let them see what is right and what is wrong and then give them the hidayah to follow the right path. Ameen.

  3. Ibnu Ahmad Says:

    @abdurrahman
    Unfortunately you take the literal meanings of traditions related to the advent of Imam Mahdi – Promised Messiah in the later days. For example: There is one sayings as the sign of Qiyamah – i.e. The sun will rise in the west. You people still is waiting for the fulfillment of this sign – sun should rise in the west. Will it happen as you people and the present days Mullahs expect? Never.

    Similarly Imam Mahdi will be buried you say – near the kabr (grave of Prophet Muhmmad (PBUH) whereas the original Hadith says not near the grave, but it says fil kabr – means in my grave. Anyway, it is your custom to twist the matter to deviate peole from right path.

    Tell me, if a true Mahdi comes, what shall we do, whether to accept him immediately as enjoined by our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) or as you interpret literally, we have to wait until his death and his Janaza to be buried near the grave of Muhammad (sal)?

    Similarly, you take the literal meanings of Imam Mahdi’s father and mother names will be of mine (Prophet Muhammd’s).

    By comparing these matters with the person of Holy Prophet of Islam, the Holy Master insist the Ummah about his deep relationship with the Imam Mahdi. Nothing else.

    It is an established fact of history that whenever God Almighty directs a chosen apostle to call mankind to righteousness and piety, His commissioned messenger and those who identify themselves with Him are subjected to excessive persecution. The Quran is full of examples where the righteous have become victims of physical violence, emotional humiliation and verbal abuse at the hands of their adversaries who shield their iniquity under the guise of zealous religious piety. For instance, Prophet Noah (peace be on him) was denounced a liar1; pronounced mad2 and threatened with death3 while Prophet Hud (peace be on him) was called a liar4 and accused of being smitten by idols. Prophet Salih (a.s.) was accused of being deluded6 and threatened with banishment7 as well as assassination8, and Hadhrat Abrahamas was nearly burnt alive.

    Prophet Lot (a.s.) and Prophet Shuaib (a.s.) were both threatened with expulsion from the city of their domicile while Prophet Moses (a.s.) was accused of being possessed and denounced a sorcerer. Prophet Jesus (a.s.) was nearly crucified on the accursed stake14 and Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) endured severe physical torture, emotional humiliation and verbal abuse at the hands of the kuffar who accused him of being a liar; a forgerer16; a sorcerer17 as well as insane. He and his companions were finally forced to migrate from Mecca.

    Although times have changed and such brute physical force has as a norm, become a matter of the past, yet, verbal abuse of the virtuous remains the wont of their enemies. Hence, in our own age, the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, peace be on him, has been subjected to extensive vilification by his foes who are unable to reconcile the fact that God Almighty has, once again, sent a commissioned apostle to guide mankind to the truth and lead it to the most perfect and complete religion of Islam. Since he claimed to be the prophesied Messiah and Mahdi, his adversaries have produced a colossal amount of hostile literature in which they misrepresent the beliefs of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and also subject its Founder and his successors to severe character assassination.

    Generally there are two types of Muslims in our days. Those who plead that they have the complete Book—the Holy Quran; the perfect Model– the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of God be upon him). They claim to adhere to Kalima Shahadat–the Unity of God and Messengership of Muhammad (peace and blessings of God be upon him); observe prayers; keep fast of Ramadhan; pay Zakat and perform the pilgrimage to the house of God at Mecca, hence, they assert that there is no need of any Messiah or Mahdi or even a Mujaddid to appear in the Muslim Ummah.

    There are others who did believe in the advent of the Promised Messiah and that of the Promised Mahdi, but as his advent has not taken place in accordance with their own thinking and interpretations, in their despair they have started to console themselves by saying:

    We admit that Mahdi will not appear. What harm is there if does not appear? (Hadith-al-Ghashiyya, p. 343)

    We admit that Mahdi may not come. This does not contradict any important belief of the people of Islam. (Iqtarabus Sa’ah, p. 147)

    Meenar-i-Dil pe Apnay Khuda Kaa Nuzool Deikh
    Ab Intizar-i-Mahdi-o-Eisa Bhee Chorh

    They i.e., See the descent of God on the minaret of your heart; now even discard the waiting for Mahdi and Eisa. (Dr. Allama Iqbal)

    As far as the belief for the Promised Messiah is concerned, it is the invention of the helpless and the indolent. (Shorash Kashmiri, Chitan, Lahore, May 28, 1962)

    As far as the first type of Muslims are concerned, they have in their ignorance neglected what the Holy Quran had already prophesied in 25:31: “O my Lord, my people indeed treated this Quran as a thing abandoned.”

    There is also a saying of the Holy Prophet to the effect:
    “There will come a time upon the people when nothing will remain of Islam except its name and nothing will remain of the Quran except its inscription. Their mosques will be splendidly furnished but destitute of guidance. Their divines will be the worst people under the sky; strife will issue from them and avert to them.”

    Deteriorating Condition Of Muslims
    Who is not aware of the fact that everything relating to Islam has been distorted. The concept of God presented by the Muslims is so hideous that spontaneous praise to God has become impossible for an honest person. The concept of angels, similarly, is ugly in the extreme. They are presented as critics of God, base creatures in human form, who indulge in the love of bad women. The prophets of God are described as liars and sinners. They have not spared even the Holy Prophet. Falsely and indiscriminately they have attributed to him a love affair with Zainab, or secret relations with a slave girl, or other inconceivable things. The Holy Prophet was a picture of the Holy Quran as reported by Hazrat Ayesha, yet the commentators have a different picture to paint. We are also told that Divine revelation is not free from the influence of Satan. The only source of security is thus taken away. A theory of abrogation has been invented and a perfect Book like the Holy Quran has been put in doubt. Not being able to understand parts of the Quran, the commentators have condemned them as abrogated. They have done so without authority from the Holy Quran or from the Holy Prophet. Then it is taught that a dead prophet, himself a follower of Moses, will come and rejuvenate Islam in our time. The followers of the Holy Prophet and his example of influence being unable to do so.

    So much so about the beliefs of Muslims. Their practical lives are no less deplorable. Nearly 75% do not observe the daily prayers or the annual fasts. Excepting the two Eids, millions of Muslims cannot find the few minutes needed for the daily prayers. Those who join the daily prayers do not observe all the rules and proprieties. Nobody pays Zakat or obligatory alms. Of those who pay, very few, hardly 2%, do so willingly. The Islamic laws of inheritance are being ignored altogether. Taking of interest, described in the Quran as making war on God, is now an almost universal vice. Moral grace, once the birth-right of all Muslims, now seems as remote as Kufr (disbelief) is from Islam.

    In view of such a state of affairs, the fallacy of the first type of Muslims needs no further elucidation; particularly when we have the glad tidings given by the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of God be on him, regarding the appearance of Mujaddids (regenerators) and that of the advent of the Mahdi and Messiah.

    A few prophecies from the Books of Hadith are:
    “Verily, God will appoint for this Ummah in the beginning of every century, those who will restore for it its faith.” (Abu Da’ood, Kitabul Fitn)

    “By the One who owns my soul, it is nigh, of a certainty, that the son of Mary will appear among you. He will be a judge, he will be just; so he will break the cross (refute Christian doctrines with reason and arguments–Commentary on Bukhari by Ainee) and kill the swine (a figurative speech denoting greedy, dirty and annoying person– an abomination. Killing also is through spiritual means); and he will stop war.” (Bukhari, Vol. 1, Babo Nozooli Isa)

    “It is just possible that he who lives of you might meet Jesus the son of Mary who is the Mahdi and a just judge. He will break the cross and kill the swine…” (Masnad Ahmad Bin Hanbal, Vol. 2, p. 411)

    “The Ummah can never die which has me at one end and the Messiah, son of Mary, at the other.” (Ibn Maja, Bab Al-I’atisam Bis-Sunnah)

    “There is no Mahdi but Isa.” (Ibn Maja, Bab Shiddatuz Zaman)

    “When 1,240 years will pass, God will raise Mahdi.” (An-Najmus Saqib, Vol. 2, p. 209)

    “What will be your condition when the son of Mary will descend among you and he will be your Imam from among yourselves.” (Bukhari, Kitabul Anbiya, Bab Nazool Isa)

    The son of Mary had died long before and it is an established fact that the dead can never return to this world, (The Quran, 21:95), so it is obvious that the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of God be on him, could not mean the coming of the same son of Mary who was put on the cross. Besides, the fact that the physical features of Jesus and the Promised Messiah described by the Holy Prophet (see Bukhari) are not the same is a proof positive of the fact that they are really two different persons and not one and the same. Moreover, the Holy Prophet has further made his meaning clear by saying that he would be “from among yourselves,” i.e., he would neither descend from the heavens nor would be the same son of Mary, who is dead. On the other hand, he would appear from among the Muslims of the age.

    Mahdi Is No Other Than The Messiah Promised To Muslims
    In pondering over the above traditions one is bound to come to the veritable conclusion that the Mehdi is no other than the Messiah promised to Muslims. To think as the second type of Muslims thought mistakenly, that the Messiah and the Mehdi are two different persons is wrong as is clear from the above Traditions No. 3, 5, & 7.

    For shedding the light of Islam in the Christian world he is called Messiah or son of Mary, and for illuminating the hearts of Muslims with pure Islam he is called Mehdi. And this is the very interpretation given by the person who was raised in the fulfillment of these prophecies, when he says:

    Choon Mera Hukm Az Paey Quame Maseehee Dadah And
    Maslahat Ra Ibn Maryam Name Man Binhadah And

    i.e., As I have been given the light for the Christian people, the name of the son of Mary has been given to me for this reason.
    Fortunate Is He Who Takes Lessons From The Plight Of Others (Hadithun Nabi)
    The second type of Muslims have fallen prey to the same mistake in which the Jews of Jesus’ time had fallen almost 2000 years ago, when they demanded the physical descent of Elijah as was prophesied in Malachi 4:5, before their believing in Jesus as their Messiah and savior. This type of Muslim has waited for the physical descent of Isa Bin Maryam which had not taken place as they wished, hence, their despair and despondency. By not sending Elijah as promised, God has made His meaning clear when he speaks of the second advent of a person. If a physical second advent were permissible in the Divine Law, the Jews were entitled to have Elijah back among them, and until that time were quite right in condemning every claimant to Messiahship as an impostor. But the condemnation of the Jews involves condemnation for the belief that Isa Bin Maryam himself will come back. Even assuming that they were excusable for having fallen into such an error, not the slightest excuse is left for the second type of Muslims for falling into the same error again. This type of Muslims ought to have profited by their example but they are repeating the same error. Every sign that was foretold has been witnessed, but they had been looking for the Messiah in the wrong direction though at the right time. Earthquakes, plague as well as heavenly phenomena bear witness to the one fact that the advent of the Messiah is already overdue.
    Hence, there is no cause of despair, rather, we should rejoice that God fulfilled His promise made in the Holy Quran:
    “We Ourselves have sent down this Exhortation and most surely We will be its Guardians.” (15:10)

    The Prophecies of The Holy Prophet
    The prophecies of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of God be on him) have seen the light of day, and Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam, received the following revelation directly from God
    Ja’alnaaka al Masih Ibn Maryam
    “We have made thee the Messiah, son of Maryam”

    This was in keeping with the prediction of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of God be on him):
    Yakhrojul Mahdiyo Min Qaryatin Yoqalo Lahaa Kad’ha

    i.e., the Mahdi will appear in a village the name of which will be called Kad’ha. (Jawahirul Asrar, p. 55)

    Announcements From Qadian
    “When the 13th century of the Hegira drew to a close and the beginning of the 14th century approached, I was informed by God Almighty, through revelation, that I was the Mujaddid (Reformer) for the 14th century.” (Kitabul Bariyya, p. 201)

    “It was disclosed to me through Divine revelation a few years later that the Messiah that had been promised from the earliest time to this nation and that the last Mahdi (Reformer) who was destined to appear after the deterioration of Islam and who was to be granted direct guidance from God and who was to provide once again the spiritual nourishment, as had been pre-ordained, and about whom glad tidings had also been given by the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of God be on him) himself 1300 years ago, is none other than me.” (Tadhkiratush Shahadatain, p. 1)

    “The holy and pure revelation of God has informed me that I have been sent by Him as the Promised Messiah and as the Promised Mahdi and as Arbiter for the internal and external differences.” (Arba’een)

    “O ye people: I am Muhammadi Messiah and I am the Ahmad Mahdi: God is really with me from my childhood to my grave.” (Khutba Ilhamia, p. 17)

    “The truth is that Islam is in dire need of help from God. I am the reformer of the age. It is delightful that God did not leave Islam helpless in this state and sent me, according to His law, so I could revitalize it.” (Malfoozat, Vol. 9, p. 158)

    Signs Testifying To Hazrat Ahmad’s Claim
    The claim of Hazrat Ahmad has been testified by the signs appearing in heaven and earth. For instance, Darqutni, a most eminent authority, records a saying of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of God be on him):

    Inna Le Mahdeena Aayataaini Lam Takoonaa Munzo Khalqis Samawati Wal Arzi Yankhasiful Qamaro Le Awwali Lailatin Min Ramazane Wa Tankhasifushamso Fin Nisfi Minho Wa Lam Takoonaa Munzo Khalaqallahus Samawati Wal Arza

    i.e., “For our Mahdi there shall be two signs which have never happened for any one else since the creation of the heavens and the earth; At his advent there shall occur an eclipse of the moon in the first of its appointed nights and an eclipse of the sun on the middle one of its appointed dates and both will occur in the month of Ramazan.” (Dar Qutni, p. 188)

    The prophecy does not mean that the occurrence of the eclipse would in itself be unique and unprecedented. But the prophecy predicted 1300 years beforehand that two of the signs of the true Mahdi would be that the sun and the moon would be eclipsed in manner indicated. Eclipses have no doubt occurred before but never as a sign of the advent of a heavenly reformer; because there has never been in the history of the world a claimant of any kind at the time of the phenomena described. It is also confirmed by the Holy Quran (75:6-9) which refers to the same prophecy.

    Now according to this the eclipse of the moon actually occurred on Thursday evening the 13th of Ramazan, 1311 A.H. (March 21, 1894) and that of the sun occurred on Friday morning the 28th of the same Ramazan (April 6, 1894). The eclipse of the moon generally occurs on the 13th, 14th, or 15th day of a lunar month and according to the prophecy, it occurred on the first date. The eclipse of the sun can occur on the 27th, 28th, and 29th and it occurred on the 28th which was the middle date predicted. Hence, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad rightly claimed that the prophecy was fulfilled and it was a strong evidence on the truth of his claim as no one except God has power over these heavenly bodies.

    Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah and Mahdi says:
    The signs fulfilled so far are so numerous that there is no room left for an honest mind to deny them. All the earthly and heavenly signs of the appearance of the Promised Messiah have been manifested in my time. The eclipse of the sun and the moon in the month of Ramadhan happened some time ago, the comet has appeared; earthquakes have occurred; epidemics became rampant; Christianity has forcefully spread in the world and as was written, opposition to me has been very intense. All these signs have been fulfilled. (Kitabul Bariyya, p. 259-260)
    Blessed are those who recognize the Imam of the age and join the fold of the Promised Messiah and Mahdi as was commanded by the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of God be on him) Man Maata Wa Lam Ya’Arif Imam Zamanihee Faqad Maata Meetatal Jahiliyyata, i.e., “He who dies in a condition that he has not recognized the Imam of the age dies a death of ignorance.” (Musnad Ahmad Bin Hanbal, Vol. 4, p. 96)

    Fa Iza Ra’aitomooho Fa Bayiooho Wa Lau Habwan Alas Salji Fa Innahoo Khalifatullahul Mahdi, i.e., “When you hear the advent of Mahdi then enter into his fold even if you have to walk on snow by crawling and creeping to reach him.” (Kanzul Ummal; also footnotes to Musnad Ahmad Bin Hanbal, Vol. 6, p. 29-30)

    The Promised Messiah has rightly remarked when he said:
    Had my claim been put forward on my own, you would have been free to reject me, but if God’s Holy Prophet bears witness for me in his prophecies and God manifests His signs in my support, then do not wrong yourselves by rejecting me. Say not that you are Muslims and have no need of accepting any Messiah.

    I tell you truly that he who accepts him who has prophesied about me thirteen hundred years in advance, and had indicated the time of my appearance, and had specified my function; and he who rejects me rejects him who had commanded that I should be accepted. (Ayyamus Sulah, p. 93)

  4. szahmad2001 Says:

    A very illuminating article indeed. Those who have been bestowed by Allah with the spiritual ears and eyes, would certainly realize that the promised Messiah, the Imam Mehdi they were looking for, have already come, and refusal to accept him as such will be to their detriment. May Allah be the Guide to those who are going astray. (Amen)
    – Syed Zafar Ahmad, Hyderabad (India)

  5. Deen Says:

    If a Muslim genuinely wants to know the truth let him pray “Isthikhara” continuously for 40 days, I’m sure their spiritual eyes and ears would open. Inshallah.
