   There are some other signals that I heard in some moment. One of them is that Sakiamuni said about Maitreya that he knew the name of its mother. How the world will be at that time. About the relics that are forced to leave their temples and many others.

   The idea of find the prophecy within other religions is a sign of hope. We want to believe that this becoming master will unified society and religion. It could be possible and couldn’t be.

   At the end, it doesn’t matter at all. The centre of the universe isn’t humanity but the supreme consciousness manifested in every single being. Humanity is the world’s salt, but the universe will continued with or without us. The Dharma is a path, as the Holy Quran or the Bible, The Upanisads or the Torah. A path for guide humans through life for reach the spiritual goal of being liberated from suffer and death.

   My dear friend, the Buddha never claimed to be a prophet. Nevertheless would a doctrine based upon “Mano Pubbangama Dhamma” (the mind is above everything) have any room for a creator god?

   Fundamental tenet of Buddhism is ‘Aniccha’ impermanent. Everything is impermanent icluding God and Soul.
   Therefore no permanent God or Soul.
   All Buddhist whatever denominations agree on ‘anichcha, dukkha,anathma’ , four noble truths, etc.
   Only the Sutta Pitaka contain what believed to be Buddha really said.

   A Hebrew man named Abraham is said to be the originator of monotheism or one God belief. Later, Hebrew or Jews wrote what God said to Abraham and his latter prophets in a book called Torah and call it their Bible. This was long before Muhammad and Jesus. No wonder Jews believe, their Bible alone has the word of God.

   Amazingly, Jews Bible does not prophesy Jesus or Muhammad anywhere in it.
   Pious Christians believe that the God of Abraham was born among us as a Jew named Jesus to save the man kind from the eternal sin of eating the forbidden fruit that is eloquently described in the Jew’s Bible. So, Christians believe both their Bible and Jews’ Bible has the word of God.

   But Christian Bible does not prophesy a non Jew prophet named Muhammad anywhere in it.

   Though Muslims too believe Abraham’s yarn, they insist Muhammad is the last prophet of Abraham’s God; meaning what Muhammad said is the last word of the God and is written in the Koran.

   Now, Koran tells its adherents clearly that Christians and Jews are dirty people and they must not be allowed in Mecca. In very many verses in Koran also incites Muslims to kill the Christians and the Jews.

   I am not quoting relevant verses for monotheists would not deny them but will say; I am quoting out of context.

   So much for absurd comparison by Abdul Aziz on dogmatic monotheism and pragmatic teaching to rid ‘dukka’.

   The Jew Abraham was a bad man, for he left his wife and child in the desert without food and water, just to please a god, or an alien. This woman ran up and down looking for water for her child, Abraham only cared for his life, not the life of the woman and the child. The Muslims consider this as a good deed remeber this act in their prayers. Then, the same Abraham was ready to sacrifice his son to the “nice” god to save his life, or prove to this “nice” and “benovelent” god that he believes in him. Even this is venerated by the Muslims.

   Then appeared an uneducated man of 25, who got married to 40 year old woman for money, and this fellow appears to have had hallucinations, or the 40 year cunning woman trader, wanted to have power over the city and used him to proclaim that he had seen an angel and the “truth” was “revealed” to him.

   This “truth” was easy to find from the Jews living in that city and from the surrounding villages. ONLY, this guy could find few knowledge and few books, which someone read to him, so, he made a religion.

   This religion was established by the sword. First by attacking and killing the caravaneers, then by attacking the Jewish towns an dkilling all the men and selling all the children and women as slaves. This guy collected his “percentage” from every attack.

   Now, some fools like Aziz comes out to say Maitri Buddha is his Muhammad.

   How can aa killer be a prophet? How can a killer have any good feelings and thoughts? How many had this guy killed, before he was poisened?

   What Aziz says in his article based on Buddhist literature, not his own. Original Pali text is also quoted. Really it is a research article. Before labeling it as absurd, let me humbly request my true Buddhist friends to ponder over it. We respect Buddha, peace be on him, than of yours. Just think what he says in his death-bed what he advised to Ananada – his devoted disciple. He gives much importance to righteousness. Really this Holy man of God has the right to foretell about his Great Master Prophet Muhammad, peace be on him.

   We give respect all the Prophets from Adam onwards. We never insult anyone as Ariya did. Unfortunately Leela doesn’t have proper religious knowledge. She says no mention is there in Torah and Bible about Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH). Please read the following references with full attention.

   Lord Manifests On Mount Paran:
   There is an important prophecy in the Bible:
   “And he said, the Lord came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from Mount Paran, and he came with ten thousand saints; from right hand went a fiery law for them.” (Deuteronomy 33:2)
   Coming from Sinai refers to the appearance of Moses and rising up from Seir alludes that of Jesus. The prophet who shone forth from Mount Paran could be no other than the Holy Prophet of Arabia (Peace and blessings of God be upon him) ), as Paran is the ancient name of the part of Arabia where the children of Ishmael, the ancestors of Prophet Muhammad(PBUH), settled. The Arabic form of the word Paran is Faran or Pharan. Jacut’s Geographishes Worterbuch (F. Westenfielt, Leipzig, 1862, Vol. III, P834) says that Faran is a name of Mecca. The word Faran seems to be the Arabic Farran. It means two refugees. It appears that the place took the name from Hager and Ishmael, who came there as refugees.

   What unmistakably points to the identity of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the phrase: “he came with ten thousands of saints” and “from his right hand went a fiery law for them.” At the time of the conquest of Mecca, ten thousand holy men followed at his heels and he was the bearer of the law of the Holy Quran. Hence, the prophecy has been wonderfully fulfilled in the person of Holy Prophet Muhammad, (PBUH).

   Arabia is the land of the Promised One
   There is also a prophecy in the Bible, it reads:
   “The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye travelling companions of Dedanim. The inhabitants of the Land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him they fled. For they fled from the swords, from the drawn swords and from the bent bow, from the grievousness of war. For thus hath the Lord said unto me, within a year, according to the years of a hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail; And the residue of number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall diminished: for the Lord God of Israel hath spoken it.” (Isaiah 21:13-17)

   The first point to bear in mind in connection with this prophecy is that Arabia is the scene of the Prophecy. This is most significant. Prophet Muhammad appeared in Arabia. Secondly, the prophecy speaks of “Him that fled”. The flight of Prophet Muhammad is momentous event in the history of the world. It is upon the flight of Prophet Muhammad from Mecca that the Muslim calendar begins. Thirdly, “fled from drawn swords” conclusively proves the fulfillment of the prophecy in Prophet Muhammad who fled from Mecca when his house was surrounded by his deadly enemies who stood there, drawn swords in had, thirsty for his blood. Fourthly, another clear testimony in favor of Prophet Muhammad is found in: “within a year… all the glory of Kedar will fail, the mighty men of Kedar shall diminish.” This was fulfilled in the battle of Badr which occurred within a year from the flight of Muhammad, and in which battle, the Quraish of Mecca (Kedar) sustained a crushing defeat; most of their mighty men fell. Rev. C. Forster locates the Kedar in Hedjaz and identifies them with Koraish. (See: The Historical Geography of Arabia by Rev. C. Forster, pp. 244-265.)

   The Name Muhammad Mentioned in the Bible.
   There is an important prophecy in the Song of Solomon (5:9-16). In this prophecy, the one who is spoken of here is the beloved of God. One of the titles of Prophet Muhammad is Habibullah – the beloved one of God. Secondly: “My beloved is white and ruddy”. This was the color of Prophet Muhammad. Thirdly, “Chiefest among then thousands”. We have already shown that Prophet Muhammad was at the head of ten thousand followers at the time of the conquest of Mecca. The fourth and most striking point in this prophecy is the name of Prophet Muhammad in verse 16. It reads: “Yea, he is altogether lovely” in English Bible. In the Hebrew Bible, the word is “Muhammad-im”. (See Hebrew Bible printed for the British and Foreign Bible Society by Trowitzsch & Sons, Berlin, P. 1159.)

   Jesus said:
   “Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment … I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.”

   “Howbeit when he, the spirit of truth is come, he will guide you unto all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come.”

   “He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you”. (John 16:7-15)

   This prophecy applies to the Holy Prophet Muhammad, (peace and blessings of God be upon him) on whom was revealed the Holy Quran, which is a perfect book, and thus the Prophet Muhammad guided the people unto all truth. The Holy Quran declares that its mission is to guide to the truth. (The Holy Quran 46:31). The prophecy cannot refer to the “Holy Ghost”, said to be the partner of the “Trinity” (a doctrine totally negated by Jesus).

   The Holy Ghost already existed, and according to the Bible, had come in the form of a dove (John 1:32). It was the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), coming after the departure of Jesus, who brought the pure heavenly word. Moses also addressed Israelites and prophesied about the coming of a prophet “from among their brethren”, that is from among the Ishmaelites.

   God said to Moses:

   “I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him”. (Deuteronomy 18:18)

   It was the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) who was raised from among the Ishmaelites. He was like unto Moses in the fact that he brought a new law as Moses did. It was the Prophet Muhammad, who told the people whatever was revealed to him.

   Jesus had said:
   “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself: but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak; and he will show you things to come”. (John 16:12-13)

   The Holy Quran, the scripture revealed to the Prophet Muhammad and presented by him to the whole world, says: “Today we have perfected your religion for you and completed our favors upon you”. (The Holy Quran 5:4) These words clearly point out the comprehensiveness of the teaching of the Holy Quran as required by the above prophecy.

   The prophecy runs as follows:
   “If ye love me, keep my commands. And I will pray to the Father and He shall give you another Comforter. That he may abide with you forever; even the Spirit of truth.” (John 14:15-17)
   “But the Comforter which is the Holy Ghost whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things..” (John 14:26)

   Again:

   “Nevertheless, I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away, for if I go not away the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.” (John 16:7)
   “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth; for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak; and he will show you things to come. He shall glorify me.” (John 16:12-14)

   John 14:26 says that the Holy Ghost is the Comforter. This claim is contrary to the plain and unambiguous words of John 16:7, wherein Jesus says that his going away, i.e., the death of Jesus is inevitably necessary of the coming of the Comforter. The New Testament says that John was filled with the Holy Ghost even before he was born (Luke 1:14), and speaks of Jesus himself as receiving the Holy Ghost in the form of a dove (Matthew 3:16)

   Thus, the Holy Ghost was wont to visit men before Jesus as well as in his own time. To what, then is the reference in the words, “If I go not away the Comforter will not come unto you.” Surely not to the Holy Ghost; for it is a matter of common knowledge that the Holy Ghost was co-existing with Jesus, and it would be sacrilegious to think for a moment that Jesus was without the Holy Ghost. So, the Comforter was someone other than the Holy Ghost. This also supports our assertion that there have been many interpolations in the existing Christian Bible. It is quite obvious that the Comforter cannot be the Holy Ghost, as Jesus uses the pronoun “he” instead of “it” in connection with the Comforter.

   Comforter Was To Bring Complete Teachings.
   According to the prophecy: The Comforter, the Spirit of truth, “will guide you into all truth”. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was the only prophet who claimed to have brought the complete teachings through the Holy Quran

   Moreover, the Holy Ghost, being the third person of the Trinity (a doctrine, never taught by Jesus), is a co-partner in the God-head and has a fair claim to at least one third of it. Why, then should it be reduced to the status of a recipient, hearing anything from any other person. It is, on the hand, the active agent imparting words to others who should communicate them to mankind. Obviously, the passage refers to a man inspired by God, who will transmit to others nothing beyond what is revealed to him. “He doth not speak of himself, but it is the word of God that is revealed to him” says the Holy Quran (53:4-5).

   The Comforter is repeatedly spoken of in the Bible as the “Spirit of Truth” and it may be observed here in passing that the word Comforter cannot, by stretch of fancy, be twisted to fit in with the Holy Ghost, for nowhere in the Bible is the latter called the Spirit of Truth. Furthermore, Jesus speaks of him as another Comforter. Jesus himself, of course, was one Comforter. The other Comforter foretold, therefore, must also be mortal like himself.

   The Quranic picture is the same in this respect when it proclaims the advent of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) thus: “ Say, the Spirit of Truth is come and falsehood is vanished”. (Al-Quran 17:82)

   It is futile to object that the Holy Prophet was a man and not a “Spirit”. The Bible itself has used the word “Spirit” in a large variety of senses, as for example: “The Spirit is willing but flesh is weak” where it signifies the spiritual part of man. Again, it is also used to stand for God, both in the Holy Quran and the Bible, as descending upon the righteous, and yet again it signifies a holy person: “That which is born of the spirit is spirit”. The Christian contention that the word “spirit” cannot apply to corporal being is therefore without basis.

   Prophet Muhammad Cleared Jesus of All False Charges
   Another function of the Comforter is: “He shall glorify me,” which implies the presence of a human being to bear evidence. What the Holy Ghost can, at best, do is no more than to install into human minds. This, however, is anything but glorifying. Even granting, for the sake of argument, that the Holy Ghost did actually bear witness through human beings, the question arises whether he did purify Jesus of the false charges laid at his door.

   The Jews heaped curses upon him and alleged that he had died on the cross, which they regarded according to the Scriptures as an accursed death. Did the Christians, inspired by the Holy Ghost, clear him of this? No! On the contrary, they assisted the Jews in their blasphemous propaganda, by admitting his death on the cross. Furthermore, they imputed to him the most abominable offense, namely, that he called himself the son of God in the literal sense. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) alone fulfilled these prophetic words of the Gospel. He it was who emphatically pronounced the divine word: “I shall purify thee (O Jesus) of all the false charges imputed to thee by the disbelievers.” (Al-Quran 3:56) How far the Holy Prophet (PBUH) succeeded in achieving this can be judged from the fact that every Muslim looks upon Jesus (peace be upon him) as the righteous servant of God, as His Prophet. Belief in Jesus forms a part of Muslim’s faith.

   Another characteristic of the Promised Comforter, as set forth in the Gospel, has proved another stumbling block to the Christians. “That he (the Comforter) may abide with you for ever” gives them the erroneous impression that the Comforter, in order to be immortal, must need be a “spirit” and not a human being, which betrays their ignorance of the Bible itself. The very words of Jesus in this connection will suffice to remove this erroneous idea: “He shall give you another Comforter that he may abide with you for ever”, clearly indicate that the Comforter will abide for ever in a certain sense in which Jesus himself shall not. As a matter of fact, when Jesus spoke of the cessation of his own life and the continuation of that of Comforter, he implicitly referred to the duration of their existence through their teachings and their spiritual influence on mankind.

   When a Prophet is raised up for the reformation of a people, he is equipped with a two-fold weapon – a code of laws wherewith to regulate the life of man, and a personal magnetism exercising an ennobling influence upon whomsoever he may come in contact with. In both these respects, Jesus has ceased to exist long since, while the Holy Prophet of Islam lives on to this day and shall live on for ever.

   Jesus came with a set of laws and spiritual force, whereby he effected a considerable reformation among his own people for a time. But, by and by the laws that were suited to the stage of society ceased to be of practical utility when found with the subsequent growth and development of that society, and the spiritual force that had wrought miracles of old, lost its efficacy and vanished. Thus arose the need for another Comforter who should bring with him a perfect law, not for a particular clan or clime but for the whole of the human race.

   Civilization was, by this time, sufficiently grown up, to receive teachings which went far beyond the mental capacity of the Jews of his time. A perfect law to regulate the whole human society was thus required to replace the inadequate code of Jesus Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was raised to meet the need in reference to which the Holy Quran says: “And We have not sent thee but as an embodiment of mercy for all the worlds (i.e., for all peoples and all ages)”. (Al-Quran 21:108)

   These are just a few of the many prophecies found in the Bible about the advent of that great prophet who was going to lead the world into all truth.

   Allah sends down His blessings on the Prophet and His angels pray for him. O ye who believe, you too should invoke His blessings on him and salute him with the salutation of peace. (Holy Qur’an: 33;57.)

   Aziz has not quoted single word from Sutta Pitaka.
   When you say Pali text there are thousnda of books written in Pali. They are not all about what Buddha said.
   The Buddha never prophsied anything. He could never be dragged into discuss anythig other that purification of mind. He never speculated.

    I am no daily reader of Bibles or Koran. I only read it to compare the wisdom and imprudence of God. True, Deuteronomy 33:2 says; “And he said, the Lord came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from Mount Paran, and he came with ten thousand saints; from right hand went a fiery law for them.”

    Now, I do not know what the original Hebrew verse stands for. As I understand, the word ‘the Lord’ means ‘The God’ and not a prophet. My problem being; neither Muslims nor Jews accept Jesus as the God. They insist Jesus is a prophet. How could he be Lord for did he not eat like others, Muhammad asks. Hence your suggestion of ‘the Lord came from Sinai’ alludes to Jesus, comes to naught.

    My next point is; you say; ‘The prophet who shone forth from Mount Paran could be no other than the Holy Prophet of Arabia (Muhammad)’. I cannot agree with you for in Deuteronomy 33:2, omniscience Lord hadn’t predicted Muhammad by name. You say, Buddha had prophesied Maitriya in name.

    To say it all in short about the omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent Lord, let me quote a world-renowned traveller named Mark Twain who had spoken greatly about Sri Lanka. He wrote in ‘God, Ancient and Modern’ that “The sole solicitude of the God is with a few wandering and truculent nomads. He (God) worried and fretted over them in a peculiar and distractingly human way. One day he coaxed and petted them beyond their deserts. He sulked, he cursed, he raged, he grieved, according to his mood and the circumstance. When the fury was on him, he was blind to all reason – he not only slaughters the offenders, but even harmless little children and his cattle.”

    The entire of Buddha Dhamma is about the four noble truths and the eight-fold path to reach Nibbana. The essence of the eight-fold path is peace, not with just human beings but all living and other things that exist. From the date of his first discourse, Load Buddha and all of his followers have been preaching Dhamma with compassion and kindness. Never once, have they rammed Buddha Dhamma on anyone. Neither Buddha nor his disciples ever resorted to berate or rant and rave on other faith. Nor have they known to be bigots. The entire Buddhist history of more than 2500 years will reveal that truth clearly without a hitch. The obvious question is; which other world religions make such a worthy claim.

    Religion is a personal thing. We can argue tiresomely on the pros and cons in this blog until cows come home. Judging by the comments we all appear to be bigots.

    Revealing of the “truth” is pure conjecture, and what is the truth? and when did Buddhism become a religion?
    I’m a Christian and I follow the philosophy of Lord Buddha to be at peace within my self like many do.

    I am sorry you have completely missed out what I mean. I wrote ‘that’ truth and not ‘the’ truth. By ‘that’ truth, I meant what I have described immediately above it, and not Buddhism to be ‘the’ truth.

    During the time of Buddha, there were many a founder of religions. He is said to have met many, not to berate them but for discussion.

    Buddha had categorically rejected creator God as a fatalistic view. Criticising it he said; ” so then, owing to the creation of a supreme deity men will become murderers, thieves, unchaste, liars, slanders, abusive, babblers, covetous, malicious, and perverse in view. Thus all those who fall back on the creation of a God as the essential reason, there is neither desire nor necessity to do this deed or abstain from that deed.”

    Now, just like Buddha said, what I articulate here are mere contentions for a healthy debate. At no instant, do I promote or encourage any kind of aggression or fighting like Muhammad lead demolishing of idols and wars that other prophets of monotheist religions waged.

    All religions generally say good things and provide a code of conduct. However, most of them induce fear in the minds of followers; particularly fear of the unknown.

    Christian, Muslim or Jewish god, as far as I can see, is very selfish! He will help only those who pray to him! If you pray to another god, he will punish you! If you do good, why in the world have you got to pray to god for him to treat you well. If god is what he is claimed to be, he will know whom to help and treat well and whom to punish.

    God has been created by man to inculcate the fear factor in the human being, particularly of the unknown, to keep them in the right path and prevent them doing bad things because of the punishment god will give them. Buddha on the other hand is a human being who has achieved Buddhahood through self-sacrifice and learning to control oneself. So it is quite natural that any other human being could achieve the same Buddhahood through self-decipline, learning and sacrifice. There would be many Buddhas to follow, not only “Miatriya Buddha”. The essence of Buddhism is that you have to be true to yourself and not to a god who keeps tab on you. You will get the benefits of the good deeds while you will suffer the cosequences of bad deeds you commit. God, if there is one, is the servant of a human being who is honest to himself and lives in a way not to trouble anyone else.
