As a Sinhala American, I am presenting this logical reasoning; because I am astonished to see such a stamp immortalizing a Tamil Terrorist whose terrorist organization, LTTE is proscribed by the CIA. Since any one can pay and get a US postal stamp printed, will it be acceptable if Ben Laden, One Eyed Mullah Osman, or Khalid Sheik MohamedƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s photo is on a US postal stamp? Certainly not; if someone does pay and get such a stamp printed, then FBI is bound to question that person, and will probably be prosecuted for participating in terrorist activities. The US stamp in question is one Rangihar Manoharan, a member of LTTE, is portrayed as an innocent student. After extensive investigation, Sri Lankan authorities found that Rangihar Manoharan and his party were carrying hand grenades. No one has figured out why they congregated at that location which was very close to a military base. Many Tamil web sites states that he and his party were students who were talking about examinations. Tamilnet.com web site displays the stamp, but does not print it so that the sponcerƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s web site name is not visible for obvious reasons. Tamilnet.com does not give the names of the two organizations that paid for the stamp printing.

My understanding is that Honorable Secretary of State Hilary Clinton was given a sum of money during the election campaign and once it got traced to a Tamil Terrorist front organization, it was returned, but Senator Patrick Leahy has never admitted that he receives election funding from Tamil Terrorist supporters living in USA. Secretary of state has the authority to order the US Postal service not to publish stamps that will glorify dead Tamil Terrorists, but there will be resistance from Senators, Patrick Leahy and Benjamin Cardin. I hope you will get to read my innovative critique and react to it. You could read it and take no action, or take some action, or issue a directive to the US Postal Service not to publish Tamil Terrorists depicting as democratic freedom fighters for Tamil only Northern Province. The best they will do, like the Frenchies did, is to say that they were totally unaware of the fact that Tamil Tigers printing these stamps – as you pointed out, had it been the case where someone was printing Bin Laden stamps, boy, they would have known it before the person thought about it.. One just wonders whether the Tamil Tigers did this with the conivance of the CIA and their French frogmen. Don’t underestimate the level these organisations can stoop to to pursue their political aims – remember how they sent chemical coated cigars to Castro so that Castro’s beard will fall off? Sounds silly and stupid but that’s how they try to change public image of their political opponents.

Kithsiri is very logical in asking how the American State Department will react if some one were to have a Postal Stamp of Bin Laden issued through the American Postal Department, or as a matter through the Postal Department of any other country.
Going on this argument if the American State Department has any respect to itself, it should immediately stop the circulation of the Stamp carrying the photo of a terrorist from Sri Lanka and apologize to the Government of Sri Lanka for its inattention.

In USA any one can print a stamp for anyone. Try a stamp for Lalith Athulath mudali. No one will oppose. Further Sri lanka still need to prove itself as a law abiding country.
