Defense column by Keerthi Warankulasuriya – Sunday Divina -27th June

On the 6th June the Swiss Director of Prosecutions initiated action to investigate into Swiss Tiger office .It was revealed that the Tiger front had taken fraudulently substantial funds asƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  loans from financial institutions on the basis of false documents. It was also revealed that these funds were channeled to the LTTE for purchase of arms thro S.Ramachandran , a leader in the Tiger overseas front.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The Swiss investigators had proceeded to Netherlands to question S.Ramachnadran.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The present demand by the overseas based Tamil Tiger followers to withdraw Sri Lankan armed forces in the North is mainly to make use of the opportunity to channel the fundsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to disruptive forces in Sri Lanka.

The background to the demand to withdraw the SL armed forces can be elicited by studying operation launched by the State AIPD in Netherlands into the Tamil fund collectors. The Netherland’s intelligence services have collected information going up to 6000 giga bites. (equivalent to 1200 DVD s) It was made clear that the new fund raising was to finance the activities of some of the LTTE fighting cadres still hiding in Sri Lanka. Ramachandran had been controlling a fund Euro 136 millions. The Netherland’s intelligence agencies have found out the names of the banks where the money had been deposited. It was found that Ramachandran had even fraudulently taken $104000-ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  from two leadingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Swiss banks .At present 12 leading Tamil Tigers are in custody and the authorities have confirmed that they have enough evidence to prove their acts of fraud.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Netherland ‘s intelligence agents have now discovered that a new fund has been set up to start a new war in Sri Lanka. Ramachandran had purchased gold from some of the funds and exported to a number of countries to sell through their agents.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ On another front the Tiger groups in Canada got together in Toronto Chinese Club and boasted that one of the companies with LTTE interests will be handling the issue of tickets at freewaysƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  entry points in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka authorities should take extreme care in combing carefully the investors who come to Sri Lanka. Already , a suspicious character from Scarborough Canada who runs a training center for Truck drivers is in Sri Lanka.

  2. A. Sooriarachi Says:

Does this mean people like Blake, Clinton, Indian and British leaders, “Human rights” NGOs etc who demand the withdrawal of SriLankan security forces from the North which is still vulnarable to the hostile designs of LTTE terrorist diaspora, protected in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Norway, Tamilnadu and some EU nations, are guilty of complicity to destabilise SriLanka, either through ignorance or by design?

This time, if they begin it will be as they did last time, and, first they start blowing here and there. Because of that, vigilance in those areas should not be cur down.

  5. Raj Says:

That is why TNA wants security reduced and federalism. Later they will ask for complete withdrawal of forces and their own security forces. Mr Gotabaya Rajapakse please keep a vigilant eye on those NGOs, and the rogue ‘investors’.
