Karu Jayasuriya calls for united opposition to “tyrannical presidential system’’

Karu Jayasuriya thinks that people in Sri Lanka forgets the past very quickly.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is not so Mr.Jayasuriya the people remember how you and seventeen others crawled to the executive President Mahinda Rajapakse seeking as a gift for the betrayal of UNP a Ministerial post when you were kicked on your political backside by your now erstwhile leader Ranil Wickramasinghe .

If on principle Karu Jayasuriya was against the executive presidency he should not have joined the President Mahinda RajapakseƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and above all not accepted a Ministry in his cabinet.

But having sacrificed his principles there is no reason now for him to let that once accepted executive presidency, become a tyrannical presidential system in his boggled mind.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Karu Jayasuriya in fact had no principles, he is an unprincipled man.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  He is running after what he thinks are opportunities that would take him to unreachable heights. When he joined the PresidentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Mahinda Rajapakse, he may have thought that he would probably be made the Prime Minister.

When that seems an unlikely possibility he thought of changing camps againƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  by going back to the UNP rank hoping to become the Deputy leader and eventually the Leader of the UNP when the unpopular leader Ranil Wickramasinghe would step down.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Now he is like the cat that ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚shittedƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ on the rock.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is not likely that Ranil Wickramasinghe will step down and not likely that he would have a chance of being the deputy leader. Sajith Premadasa despite his lack of a firm back boneƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  is possibly more popular a candidate for the leadership of UNP than him, and all that remains for ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ himƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to do is to scratch the rock andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  cry ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-meowƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

In his missing the chance ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  being the leader of UNP, he thinks of other possibilitiesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  of remaining in the fading lime light .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is not said for fun that the empty mind is the devils workshop.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  If there is no chance for him to be somebody in the UNP he could be somebody among the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-all opposition political forcesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ in the country if he could muster them to form a unitedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  front to oppose a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- tyrannical Presidential System .ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

In his ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-disturbedƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ mind he fails to see the good an executive president couldƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  do withƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  a small developing country in a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-political shark infestedƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ international waters around it. If it was he or his Leader Ranil W they would have both been devoured by now or tamed to drag the whole of Sri Lanka in to the deadly waters .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

Being that dumb he makes his clarion call, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- As a member of the UNP, the countryƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s single largest political party, I believe that the time is right to call upon my fellow members of opposition to unite in shedding our differences, letting go of old wars and seemingly insurmountably diverse ideologies, in order to unite and emerge stronger than ever against a common enemy.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢

He is so daft that he cannot realise, that the common enemy of the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- opposition of radically diverse political viewsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ the President Mahinda Rajapakse is the most popular political leader among the ordinary people ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Sri Lanka. But Jayasuriya says, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- The executive presidency is not just the enemy of the UNP or the JVP or the TNA or even the SLFP ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” in its all pervasive, destructive omnipresence it is the singular enemy of Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ and so our agenda, as a common opposition would be a worthy one and one that will win the support of all Sri Lankans.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ This statement itself shows that Karu Jayasuriya is a stupidƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  day dreamer.

Jayasuriya says, “Through the years, the executive presidential system has taught us many bitter lessons. As political parties we are poorer because of itƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Yes, the executive presidential system has taught us, that to fight an enemy of the nation such as terrorism, it had beenƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  an excellent tool.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The President was free to exercise his powers to the benefit of the country without being hindered by the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Parliamentary and other weird political red tape.

Jayasuriya quotesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Lalith Athulathmudali and Gamini Dissanayake , ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ “Too much power concentration in one person can only hinder and not advance democracy in a country. This is the reality we are all living today, whether politician, journalist or citizen. The only way to change that is to make it the one common stand of a united and strong opposition.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢

This is an utterly false evaluationƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  of the situation . ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ This would ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ be correct if the power is concentrated in the hands of a right wing Dictator, but not if such power is entrusted to a socialist political leader loved by the people and who in turn will not rob the affection of the people for his own benefit.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Our President Mahinda Rajapakse is the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ most religious oriented political leader of recent time.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  We the ordinary people know that he had not used his executive Presidential power for the detriment of his ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ people.

The British type of democracy does not help the developing countries.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Democracy has failed even in Great Britain ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…”the mother of Democracy.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  We saw in recent times the disastrous break down of discipline, reducing the British security forces to ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a shameless spectator, and the governmentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  of UK brought down to its knees by a handful of pro terrorist ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ expatriate Tamils carryingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the flag of the terrorists.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

The Government of UK despite the presence of a police force, on a great day such as the Jubilee of its Queen was unable to receive the invitees and allow at least one of them to address a meeting that had been arranged for him in advance. The UK government was harassed and shamelessly made powerless by a handful of pro-terrorist expatriate Tamils in UK .

There was lot of mayhem trying to ridicule the President Mahinda Rajapakse- a visiting head of state as having been refused to address a meeting that had been arranged for him, and it was the second time that the President of Sri Lanka was denied such honours.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  That does not go against the President Mahinda Rajapakse at all, but against Britain and its failed democracy. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The President Mahinda Rajapakse defied the ridiculous UK Security provided to him, to walk up to the cheeringƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Sinhala crowds that welcomed him and took the opportunity to speak to them, while the pompous Great Britain was denuded by a handful of expatriate TamilƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  terrorist rump and stood naked before the public on the great day it celebrated its QueenƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Jubilee.

UK which with the help of its allies and the NATO destroyed Libya and ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Libyan leader, and arms the rebels and manipulates them to oust the President of Syria, was unable to control the pro terrorist Tamil expatriates who reduced to ridiculeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  their grandiose plans to celebrate their Queens Jubilee honourably and in peace.

Great Britain did not learn its lesson from the first occasion when the President of Sri Lanka was denied addressing the Oxford Union, and shamefully allowed the same thing to happen the second time.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  One wonders who rules Great Britain, is it the Prime Minister CameronƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢sƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Government or the pro-LTTE Tamil expatriates who were more powerful to haveƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  been able to force their will on the British Ruling Class.

In that sense the Executive Presidency of Sri Lanka is far better than the advanced democracy of great Britain.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  What happened that day in UK would have never happened in Sri Lanka under President Mahinda Rajapakse.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Therefore our system of executive presidency is best to be copied even by the UK Government, throwing over board the British democratic system that failed in its own soil.

The fault in Sri Lanka is not with the executive Presidency, but the opposition parties UNP, JVP,TNA etcƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  that have failed to unite to contribute to the vast development projects that are being carried out by the government ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  an executive Presidential System.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  If the Opposition is able to bury their hatchets against the executive presidential system and rally round it, our country would not have been allowed to slow down its progress by unnecessary and undemocratic interference by the International Community on a questionable Western ideology of ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Human RightsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ .

Karu Jayasuria should therefore unite the opposition forces in Sri Lanka not against the executiveƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  presidency but against the interfering International Community to leave us alone to develop our country ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ bring together the Communities and bring peace and happiness ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to our people.

The President Mahinda Rajapakse had not at any stage used the executive powers of his officeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to thwart the freedom of the Opposition parties to criticise or manifest against the President or his Government.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  In Sri Lanka the press, to say the least, is not very patriotic either. The President has not unnecessarily censured news orƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  gagged theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  media despite its constant criticism of the government, twisting of news, and publishing articlesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to bring disrepute to Sri Lanka abroad.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sri Lanka may have defects as any so called democratic countries of the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-whiteƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ world. But ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ under the President Mahinda Rajpakse we have seen an unprecedented development of our country that could not have been even dreamt of by the UNP Pandits or JVP talking machines.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

The ordinary people of Sri Lanka are happy with what had taken place since 2005, and though Karu Jayasuriya is planning to unite the opposition to oust the government and the executive presidency, the Ordinary people of the country are 100 per cent behind the executive PresidentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and would like him to continue to be the executive ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ president for some more time, as they see no leader as capable as the President Mahinda Rajapakse amoung the political leaders of the opposition.

If there is a hindrance for the development of Sri Lanka it comes from the opposition parties. Karu Jayasuriya finds fault with executive presidency as it hinders the progress of democracy.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  But who are really hindering the progress of democracy in Sri Lanka, and acting undemocratically ?

It is the UNP and the TNA which have refused to nominate a person for the Parliamentary Select Committee which is hindering democracy and acting undemocratically.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

It is perfectly alright to criticise the system, but as parliamentarians they should respect ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ democracy which seems sacrosanct for them, byƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  acceptingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the 18th Amendment ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ which ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ has been accepted by a majority vote, that is what democracy is all about. Karu Jayasuriya before pontificating on democracy and criticising the executive Presidency should understand and respect the basic principles of Democracy.

In a democracy the opposition parties have an important roll to play.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  No doubt there should be criticism of the activities of the government , but not for the sake of criticism, but they should be constructive criticism hand in hand with toleration and compromise.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Does it exist in the Sri Lanka Opposition ?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

One can use words to demolish or criticise a governmentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  such as , ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-, Sri Lanka is once more living the nightmarish reality of an all powerful president. The executive presidency has rendered parliament, the highest democratic institution in the land, redundant. Laws are now being made and imagined at will, there is state of terror that pervades all aspects of life in Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ This type of verbal diarrheaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  perhaps soothes the distorted minds of the Opposition political parties of Sri Lanka, but for others they are irritant andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  stinking.

Then Karu Jayasuriya puts up a list of actions by the executiveƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  presidency inƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  contradictions withƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the principles of democracy.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  He paints in that the President Mahinda Rajapakse as an authoritative dictator, putting to shade the Dictators like Franco of Spain, Pinoche ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Chile , Mussolini of Italy or even JR Jayawardhane who is supposed to have said that he can do any thing except make a man a woman or a woman a man.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

But our poor peace loving simple President who even did not hesitate to wear his sarong to meet the Queen Elizabeth of UK, who bends down to the ground before aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Buddhist monk is neither a dictator nor an uncaring executive president.

Executive power under a man like Ranil Wickramasinghe would have been an absolute catastrophe. Even without such powers the way he signed the CFA turning his back to the elected President and the Parliament was very high handed, undemocratic, harmful and an unpardonable use of his power as the Prime Minister.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  But the President Mahinda Rajapakse with his executive power abrogated the CFA and annihilated the terrorists, for the good of the country and its people.

The list of dictatorial actions of the president enumerated by Karu Jayasuriya are : “The intimidation of the press, the harassment of political detractors and the impunity with which the regime conducts itself can all be traced directly back to the tragic flaws of our presidential system which affords absolute power. Every aspect of life, whether it is judicial independence, the rule of law, media freedom or the economy is shaped and determined by the will of one all powerful man. Until one individual can no longer lay claim to such absolute power, none of these issues can be put right and Sri Lanka and Sri Lankans will continue to suffer the insane policies derived by its all powerful rulers for their benefit and theirs alone.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In the above list there was not enough intimidation of the press as in Sri Lanka the press is absolutely one sided taking side with political partie or anti-government factions.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  There is no objective analysis ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  news and the press and media do not hesitate to twist the news to the detriment of the Government.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  But yet the press continues to diffuseƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  anti president and anti government information with impunity.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The executiveƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  presidency cannot be held responsible for the harassment of political detractors.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  If it is so the TNA Parliamentarians would have disappeared from the political scene in Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The government activities and presidential pronouncements had been open and they have been some times opposed by the opposition political parties and manifestations had been organised.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Karu Jayasuriya says ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Every aspect of life, whether it is judicial independence, the rule of law, media freedom or the economy is shaped and determined by the will of one all powerful man.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But if it is so it is also the fault of the opposition for not taking part collectively in the activities of the government, by respecting the 18th Amendment and nominating members to the Parliamentary SelectƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Committee in time and have dialogues with the President and the Government when ever necessary without resorting to make ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ aggressive political statements at press conferences and out side parliament, and systematic non-cooperation with the government .

This proposed ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-collective oppositionƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ seems to have been concocted not with the welfare of the people in view but to recover eroding political popularity and for political benefits that may come from it.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  But my conclusion or rather my opinion for what it is worth is that this proposal of Karu Jayasuriya will only distance people further away from him and his ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ collective opposition to the President and the Government.

Further more the aura of an socialist executive presidency is more attractive than that of a rightist democracy.

This joker is saying teh same thing USA says!!

    Now that is very interesting.

UNP more dangerous than the executive presidency.

  2. AnuD Says:

All SLFP, UNPand socialist parties including JVP are jokers. FOr personal benefits they change sides, parties and stay silent without helping the country, sabotage the country. Butchers have more values than them.

Average Sinhala cannot so far has understood the SL constitution and of the powers vested by the constitution to the people.People elected the Rajapakse family. If any one doesn’t like the President or any other elected person they have to learn to use the ballott box, regardless what political timing the sitting president does. No one so far has understood why Late JR and his National Cabinet (NOT UNP) created this contitution, he nor did his cabinet clearly explain what an elected president will do to uplift the country. JR had the vision but could not explain to the average person; without this power NO ONE COULD DEFEAT THE TAMIL NADU TAMIL TERRORISTS. This conflict started with KING DUTUGAMUNU and no one even mention King DUTUGAMUNU. He had to get executive powers. Without this power Mahinda Rajapakse couldn’t have anihilated the India’s Territoritorial Army, which every one knew, that existed, but was afraid to write or talk about. King Dutugamunu had to get the EXECUTIVE POWERS FROM HIS FATHER. HIS FATHER REPRESENTED THE PEOPLE and it is same as the ballott box of today.
    1. Karu Jayassuriya is referring to what Late Lalith Athulathmudal and Garmini Dissanayake said was NOT TRUE. What happend was the following: when Lalith Athulathmudali was the National Security minister he tried to settle SINHALA Families in the North and he said this in the Parliament. Within a heart beat Tamil MPs contacted INDIAN authorities and JR was forced to stop this. Every one pointed the finger at Lalith Athulathmudali. When Lalith and Garmini formed their political party, PRAMADASE brought this out and said that they got KAPPAN from INDIAN RAW and that is why he stopped the settlement of SINHALA. To counter this DUNF said that Pramadase had a Private Army withn the SL Army and Pramadase was abusing executive power of the presidency by threatening the high ranking army offices. General KOBBEKADUA was one of them who told Pramadase to get lost, and Pramadase blew him to bits.

    2. This is from a e-mail that was circulated some years ago and I have no proof. I am reporting like Mr. Walter Jayawardana reported about Dr. Jayalath Jayawradana out of hospital! this son attended a high school in North east London, I think the area is called HENDEN. This boy was made head boy of the school under the instructions of Mrs. Tatcher. At a teachers meeting to select a head boy it was reveled that the school found him mentally unfit for the position, Mrs. Tatcher’s power was too much for school to refuse her request. According to the e-mailer this is what he did: School is cleaned by young girls with adult supervision. One day he hid in a class room and when the underage gril came in he locked the door and (Deleted). Her screams alerted the adult supervisor and the security officer. They called the poilce who broke the class room door to get in. Police arrested him and took him to jail.Big man then called Mrs. Tatcher; where she called head of Scotland yard get son out to Colombo ASAP, which he did. Now big man arranged to give a big some of money to this girls father and mother and made them silent. Now Mr. Charles Perera do you want this man to be the head of the so called UNP?
I ask the following question. Why did late JR resigned from the then UNP? Why did Rukman Senanayake resigned from now UNP?

    3. This is what Karu Jayasuriya did soon after Late Lalith Athulathmudali’s wife became the minister of transport. He wanted to be the deputy leader of DUNF. Srimane with all her misgivings point blankly refused it.

  4. Dham Says:

    I fully agree with Kit.
It is simply stupid to bring this monster sajith to power, even as the opposition leader. This thief robbed our land of all the treasure while his father was in power.
I have never hear about Kit’s storey about this monster, but I believe it can be true.

  5. Dham Says:

Keep Wicki as opposition leader forever. He is the best looser !

  6. sena Says:

“All SLFP, UNP and socialist parties including JVP are jokers.” — and the perpetual losers – the pathetic, submissive, no activism towards common good, see no evil public most of whose focus is to gain a foot hold in the corrupt system for personal gains not knowing the deterioration of public and economic affairs will affect everyone except of course if you cheat enough to afford a house in a foreign country preferable in much maligned West.

  7. Kit Athul Says:

No one so far has understood the NATIONAL PHYCHE and why the majority of voters are voting for this administration. NATURAL EVOLUTION LAW that was not there for the naked eye to absorb and establish these changes on their memory. NO ONE TALKS ABOUT WHAT HAPPED SOON AFTER THE NEW CONSTITUTION WAS INAUGURATED? IT WAS SHREDDED BY RAJIV GANDHI. Does any one quote this or what happend at the HONOR GUARD PRESENTATION? Has any one talk about this honor gurad who took the TOTAL RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SINHALA MAJORITY TO ATTACK Rajiv Gandhi for SHREDDING THE NEW CONSTITUTION? Has any one tried to HONOR THE HONOR GUARD? (Today this HONORABLE MAN LIVES AS A MENTALLY CONFUSED PERSON WHO’S LIVELIHOOD IS BY SELLING CDs AND DVDs, is this the way to TREAT A NATIONAL HERO. National Phyche has not matured enough to recognise this historic event) This is where the National PHYCHE kicks in but it has already been muted by then presidet Ragan of USA and India. INDIA TOOK THE RESPONSIBILITY TO GET THE EXECUTIVE PRESIDENCY ABOLISHED AND BRING FORWARD THE BRITISH COLONIAL SYSTEM, THAT HAS A NON ELECTED PRESIDENT.

    1. Multitude of events took place after this Rajive Gandhi onslaught on the constitution. The catch phraces like JR said he couldn’t change a man to a woman. JR never said this! If some one can refer to this phrace he actually said this it will be much easier to defend JR rather than to say that The Hindu or the Hindustan Times stated it. This disinformation process retared the Sinhala advance until Mahindar Rajapakse took over the Presidency.

    2. Under PRAMADASE this subconsus thought process was flurishing. He attempted to potray him self as a poor man and if any one said some thing contaery to it, he got him killed. How poor PRAMADASE was are only understood by his followers like my good friend ANDY LINGHAM, and Prof Mclean. When Pramadase was blown to pices what was the cost of the ring he was wearin? Belive it or not $90,000.

    3. A good example I have is Jayantha Liyaneghe filed law suite against TNA MPs. Where is the national nedia? Where are the doners to Jayanth’s effort? He did not have a copy machine at home and he had to go by bus to Kurunagala town by bus to get legal documents copied. How many people told jayantha not to file action against TNA? If you know the answer you will be surirsed. This is what I call Changing of the national phyche which is taking place now and this change is what many want to supress by taking the focuse to Executive Presidency and the Currput Rajapakse adminstration.

  8. Kit Athul Says:

I apologise for the spelling mistakes. I accidentally pressed the submit buttom

  9. Dham Says:

    Kit,
Yes. Rohana Wijemuni I consider him as a national hero than Ponseka. Not because I like violence but just because I and my the 70 years old father both looked at each other and simultaneously uttered ” is there any one who can wack this bugger on the head ?”, seconds before he hit the bastrad. That is how any patriot would have felt at that time. I cannot forget his name. Although even navy commanders around 1997 to 2007 visited my father, I consider him as the hero.

Although a lot of people hate JR , for no reason to me he too was a real patriot. If the world situation during JR was similar to MR, JR too could have got rid of the enemy. But his hands were tied.
You said “this change is what many want to supress by taking the focuse to Executive Presidency and the Currput Rajapakse adminstration.” – agreed. However, by delaying dealing with corruption and law and order MR is wasting his time. He is going to be another JR until a national enemy like Sajit taking over.

  10. Kit Athul Says:

Dham, thanks for the comments. There is no country that has politicians who are NOT CURRUPT. Even today Fedel Castro
has a SWISS NUMBERED Account. If you take the assets of Rajapakse family at the begining of the presidency and now, it would have increased by at least TEN fold. I am no blind follower of MR family but what I found on an e-mail few weeks ago which I tried to copy and forword to others was unsuccssful. “Susan Rice US ambasador to UN has sent a threating letter to MR stating that if he NULLIFY the 13th A, she will force India to occupy whole of Sri Lanka and then negate the current CONSTITUTION”. Place Ranil as the intrim head and allow TNA to run the country. Ask your self this question: Why is TURKEY want to establish an embassy is SL in such a hurry? The answer: It is going to be the NATO head quaters that will start the uprising like in Libya. in this scenario KARU JAYASURIYA will have a Major role so will Pramadase’s son.
