Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapakse to resign from Defence Secretary Post? – No, he should be there as long as he wants

There is such brouhaha in the media demanding that Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapakse, Secretary of Defence of Sri Lanka, should resign, or should be sacked, because of his purported unbecoming behaviour in an interview with the Editor of the Sunday Leader newspaper.

Regular writers to the media such as Dr. F’do as well as the Head of a Colombo-based group,  which ostensibly was involved for many years in unearthing alternatives to policies so that the so-called ethnic problem in the country could be solved “”…” naturally as demanded by the rich West and probably prodded on by bundles of US green backs -, have been in the forefront of the vociferous group that demands that Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapakse should not continue to hold his position as the Secretary of Defence. Incidentally, Mr. Rajapakse is reported to have stated that the newspaper Editor provoked him, and has admitted that he regretted what he said in the telephone interview, but his explanation clearly is of no concern to these “ƒ”¹…”intellectuals’.

The writer is not at all concerned about the veracity or otherwise of the allegations and the responses. The fact remains that if not for the current Secretary of Defence, who was a trusted lieutenant and blood brother of the Head of State, the LTTE would have continued with its killing spree of blowing up innocent civilians to smithereens, blasting numerous members of the armed forces, and conscripting thousands of Tamil youngsters from the Northern and Eastern Provinces of Sri Lanka to be used as cannon fodder in its futile and misguided endeavour to create a Tamils-only enclave in the North and East of Sri Lanka.

During the past three years since 19 May 2009, Sri Lankans, including the Tamils of the North as well as the LTTE apologists based in Colombo, have been given the enviable opportunity to move about freely without having to worry about getting blasted by an LTTE bomb. It is none other than Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapakse, the Secretary of Defence, under the direction of HE Mahinda Rajapakse, who gave this dream-come-true situation to the people of the country who had suffered for nearly three decades.

The overwhelming majority of Sri Lankans is certain to ignore whatever transpired in the conversation between the Defence Secretary and the Editor of the newspaper. and worship him at his feet for getting rid of the terrorist curse propagated by a megalomaniac. After all, Dutu Gemunu who killed many Tamils to liberate the North Central and Northern regions of Sri Lanka from the grips of Elaara and unified the country is to become a bodhisathva in a future birth!

I think it is time for Gota to resign from the post of Defence Secretary BECAUSE he should be the PRESIDENT now

It rather sad that the editor of Sunday Leader provokes the leaders who really care for Sri Lanka at every twist and turn. Is this journalism or Gutter Press philosophy.
