ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ At this time of distrust and chaos around the world especially in the Middle East the Muslim world needsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to remember the time when the Prophet MuhammadƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ (peace and blessings of God be upon Him) was stonedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in the city of Taif and bled to the extent that his shoesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ were soaked with blood.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ At that time Angel Gabriel came to him saying that at Prophet’s one word he had the ability and permission from God to join the two mountains and crush the people who lived between them. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ What did our injured Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) say ? ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ‘NO’.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He showed patience and forbearance because God will help the same people come to the right path. If our most honored and respectable Prophet can forgiveƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the people who caused his blood to stain his clothes and shoes then who are we to take revenge on others ? The main point of this film and cartoons like it in the past is to provoke Muslims to act in the way that this provocative propaganda predicts. Muslims need to stay strong and even though it is tough it is the way of our beloved Prophet (PBUH).
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It was the same Prophet who said a thousand times to love and care for your neighbors. Then who are we to go burn down embassies and cause a chaos on our streets and be a problem to our neighbors and fellow humans.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It was our beloved Prophet who told us to love and care for our guests because they are a blessing and honor from our God upon us. Then who are we to murder innocent people such as the US ambassador and diplomats who are guests in the country ?
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It was our beloved Prophet who said that even if one is at war he or she should not hurt the plants and the trees. It was our beloved Prophet who said to pick up a banana peel or a stick or any such obstacle from a street that can cause harm to another. Then who are we to block streets and protest by burning other’s cars, by abusing other’s property, and stopping one from proceeding to his or her work.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I believe, as a member of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community which wholly condemns the violence in Libya, Egypt, and the Middle East, am not alone in saying that it is upon the Muslim community on the whole to stand up at this hard time to truly portray the true teachings of the Prophet Muhammad when it is hard to do so when our feelings are hurt. This is the time to depict the true teachings and show that all the things that the hateful film and cartoon portray are wrong.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ If we keep this horrific routine in all the Muslim countries then we are no better than what we condemn. I know that the Muslim world stands by me when I say that if Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was alive at this time he would have never done any protest such as that happening around the world.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Then it is upon us to keep his tradition and teachings alive and stop this insanity and show the world that we are the true followers of the most beloved, humble, respectful, forgiving, and respectable man. It is now time more than ever to follow the example of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) rather than giving into these baits. Muslims need to be an example to others that what these films and cartoons portray is wrong.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ We need to follow the Holy QurƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢an and the Prophet when it is said for MuslimsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to walk away from those insulting their faith and pray for them and ourselves.”
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In response to a question about the violent protests following the release of the film, Ahmadiyya Khalifa Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad at a media briefing in U.K. said that such protests were wrong and that the killing of any innocent people, including ambassadors and diplomats was completely contrary to the teachings of Islam. He said that all protests must be conducted within the scope of the law and remain peaceful.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Ahmadiyya Khalifa added ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Muslims need to remember that extremism is not the answer to such provocation. Instead the answer is to reform oneself and to respond to the curses of the opponents by sending salutations on the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). And in worldly terms the Muslim world needs to unite and Muslims who live in western countries should fully utilise the power of their right to vote.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

In my opinion, reading by Angel Gabriel to various Prophets of Abraham’s God as written in the Bibles and Koran are such multifaceted aberrations, one could pick and chose enough and more verse from them to support and justify whatever the view a faithful moderate or an extremist wants to believe and promote.
Isn’t that why there is never ending murderous conflict in all three religions of Abraham’s God and also between its sects.

Humanity is on course to destruction due to lack of Mutual RESPECT within Humanity. Yes, Humanity lacks leadership and freedom of Speech should have responsibility and sensitiveness towards each others belief/faith. Ignorance is Rampant on the values of Islam.
Some of those who are Jews change words from their context and say: “We hear and disobey; hear thou as one cannot be made hear not” and “Listen to us!” distorting with their tongues and slandering religion. If they had said: “We hear and we obey: hear thou, and look at us” it had been better for them, and more upright. But Allah hath cursed them for their disbelief, so they believe not, save a few. Unitarians tell us that the God of Abraham is Omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresence. Leave out a bit of variations in the Bibles and Koran, we’ve also read in detail how the same God had created everything we perceive. If that is true, the God should have made us all as perfect beings in the first place. What is shocking is; the God, meaning Allah had to wait thousands of years to curse his first followers, I mean Abraham’s flock through Muhammad because Allah failed to get Jews upright in the first place.
Is there any point obeying such a God?

@Leela – Practicing Muslims do not challenge the Word of God. They hear and obey for reasons that the one and only Creator knows best. This concept may be very hard to chew for Most Non Muslims. The Noble Quran is a manual describes how to live this short life on Earth and as a result they revere the Noble Quran and the Prophet (PBUH) more than their lives. Most Muslims are aware of the Non Muslim’s Mindset and they do not expect them to understand the Islamic Values. To fully grasp the complete and profound significance of the Noble Quran is an ever expanding exploration for human consciousness. It may well always be for us an ultimate endeavour, which we seek to understand and discover in ever increasing increments of intelligence. The greatest discovery is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of Mind. We witness educated people worshiping of Cows, Rats and Snakes in many parts of the world. It does not bother us. It should not bother you who God curses. The Creator of the Universe has all RIGHTS and can punish whom He wishes. God is the Ultimate Judge.
Islam is a powerful religion with more than 1.8 billion followers, a faith that continues to grow despite the best efforts of its opponents to crush it (and despite the stupidity of Muslim extremists who dishonour Islam with their brutality). Islam will not be harmed by any film, book or work of art. Indeed, the foolishness of those who seek to denigrate Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) in this fashion is that their work simply inspires more people to learn about the man who founded humanity’s second largest religion. A man whose life was so remarkable that, 1,380 years after his death, it continues to attract enthusiastic converts to his teaching of the oneness of God and the oneness of mankind.
The world is a better place because Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) survived against his opponents and won. And even as the Prophet showed grace and clemency to his enemies, so must his heirs do so today. With the grace of God, Islam is an unstoppable force that will keep growing. That triumph is assured by history, demographics and its inherent attractiveness as a way of life for humanity. No filmmaker, artist, author, musician or invading army can destroy Islam. Secure in that knowledge, it is time for Muslims to relax and ignore the daily offenses and insults thrown at them by denizens of the cheap seats. It is time for Muslims to show the powerful confidence that Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) demonstrated when he had won and his enemies trembled at his feet. With due respect to all, we should discuss the facts without beating about the bush.
Both Islam and Christianity were spread by using violence (and to a smaller extent by peaceful means).
Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) himself fought wars! Islam spread to Asia through violence. Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Ayodya, Malaysia, Afghanistan and Indonesia were Buddhist countries. Islamic violence destroyed them and imposed their Arabic faith. Nalanda Buddhists were massacred to make this area an Islamic area.
However, the spread of Islam through violence met its match in USA, Israel, Russia, India, UK, France, China, etc. These superpower countries don’t allow the spread of Islam through violence. Peaceful spread of Islam works both ways.
e.g. Educated Muslims in western countries shed their religion. “Honour” killings cannot stop this.
Islamic countries are getting poorer and poorer compared to other countries.
e.g. Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sudan, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Egypt, Somalia, Palestine, Chechnya, Uigir province of China, Syria, etc.
Now they are infighting trying to covert Shiites to Sunnis, Sunnis to Shiites, Kurds to Shiites and Kurds to Sunnis and so on. At least a few hundred thousand Muslims die every year due to infighting.
These moves have slowed down the spread of Islam through violent means. The future of these communities is also bleak as wars are set to ESCALATE.
What matters is NOT the quantity but the quality.
If this approach is taken, there will not be any such violence and Islam may survive.

As for me, I wish to expand my earlier writing here to submit a contrary view point to yours; murderous action by different followers of Abraham’s God had affected peaceful co-existence of not just “Cows, Rats and Snakes” worshipers but also peace loving Buddhists.
Buddhism is a different kind of religion to all other religions in every aspect. Don’t get it wrong; Buddhists do not pray for cows, rats, snakes, trees or statues. Buddhists revere chosen Bo-trees for it is under the shade of such a tree that Buddha attained the supreme bliss of Niwana. And Nivena is not a paradise with eternal virgins but a mind-state that one could reach after successfully following the eight fold path.
By venerating a Buddha statue Buddhists envision the immense goodness of the Buddha. But Buddha is no God, reincarnation of God like Jesus or a prophet. He is just a man. So, Buddhism is not a dogmatic like other religions that is based on faith and/or fear. It is not prophetic, and does not rely on Godly codes. Neither does it forces itself on others. The Buddhist approach to spread its Dhamma in a rational way. In fact, Buddha advised all his followers to study and ponder it wisely, before accepting his Dhamma. Which Abrahamic religion could say that? None.
For thousands of years, a great variety of religions existed in India side by side. None of those religious founders or their followers squeezed the other to spread their own religion, let alone slay. They had not hated but respected each other’s view. Buddhist scriptures say; there were sixty-two religions and six religious founders at the time of Buddha. Many of them is said to have visited and consulted each other. With the advent of the Muslims in India however, all that harmony has changed overnight for the worst.
Like in all countries that Muslims conquered, they had shown their true colours in India too. Muslim armies had vandalized every idol they found and burned a great deal of Buddhist and Hindu scriptures. They had destroyed the temples and built their own mosques in its place. Muslim bigotry was so cruel; soon after the arrival of Islam in India, Buddhism was driven out from the very place it was founded.

This is where one of the basic problem to extremism lies. In his first fight against the infidels in Badr, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself had destroyed all the idols that were worshiped by people of Mecca and forced them to become Muslims.
Two thousand year old Bahamian Buddha statues in Afghanistan were listed as a world heritage by the United Nation. But for Muslim Talibans who recite the Koran five times a day and follow Muhammad’s life or Hadith to the letter over ride all UN declarations. True Muslims should praise them for they are true believers.
As true Muslims, Afghan Talibans said; statues should have no place in their Islamic country and then dynamited the Buddha statues in more advanced way than PBUH Muhammad destroyed idols in Mecca in 643 AD. For various reasons some hypocritical Muslims preferred to blame Talibans against their hart contents as extremists thinking yjey can skip the fundamental fault of their belief system.
Without being hypocrites, are Muslims like HussainFahmy prepared to face the truth about Koran, Hadith and differentiate it with their basic values? I wonder.

@Leela – Authentic Abrahamic faiths (Jews/Christians/Muslims) do not worship Idols or Worship Prophets as God. Definition of God. He is The One; Not Divisible! The eternal!. He begetteth not nor was begotten. And there is none comparable unto Him. No? beginning No end.
Spread of Religion by Murderous means should be reserved for the Scholars and Historians. History is written from both sides and one can always pick and choose the flavour of the day, week, month, decade, century, millennium. Perhaps you can show in history; an invading Muslim army to the shores of Sri Lanka, India, Malaysia, Indonesia. Perhaps you should read both sides and deduce the truth from fiction. Trust me, It’s injurious to ones Mental health to believe in fictitious history.

The Arabic term for those who do not worship cows, rats, snakes, trees, statues or any other objects and worship the one and only God is a Muslim. They can call themselves in different terms/ words. You should give serious thought to the ‘way of life thought by a man’ to the way of life thought by ‘The one and only Creator of the Universe’. We know for a fact that man made laws are not working; economically, socially or politically, no matter who wrote it or in which era. Please consult a psychologist about bringing up a child without fear. A lot of research is done on the impact of children with fear and hope.
Unfortunately, your source of Islamic history stated is totally incorrect. You have been misguided by Propaganda. “When truth is hurtled against falsehood, falsehood perishes, for falsehood, by its nature bound to perish” (The Noble Quran 17:81)
Logically, if one does not worship statues, why build statues and let the misguided worship it?

I tried shaking it off but the FACT is there is a correlation. Unfortunate.
e.g. Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Maldives, SL (Puttlam, Beruwala, Akkaraipattu, Kurunegala, Trincomalee, etc.), India, etc.
Blackboxes of 4 planes on 11/09/2001 recorded the terrorists reciting a prayer of a certain religion when they carried out the terror attacks.
SL police gave statements hundreds of terrorists chopping a SL policeman in Puttlam shouting the SAME thing.
I wonder what that religion is? Any clue?
I have never heard any terrorists doing such terror attacks saying other religious recitals.

Here is an added explanation Buddhists and Buddha statues again: Standing or sitting in front of a Buddha statue while offering flowers, Buddhists envision the immense goodness of the Buddha by reciting stances that describes it all in Pali, the language of Buddha. Of cause, those who are brainwashed to hate statues may well interpret our free thoughts as we are following their kind of praying for a statue. Repeat, If Buddhists never prayed for Buddha how could they pray for his statue?

Though there is only one Koran, skeptics insist that not every verse in that Koran carry a ‘single’ meaning. And they say, that makes different Muslims to interpret Koran in variety of ways. Whenever disbelievers point out such verses and criticize violent Muhammadans, Muslims in general take it personal and scream in unison to accuse skeptic or disbelievers had been quoting out of context.
Next, if all Hadith supposed to have written by companions and followers of Muhammad, pray why you do specify some as authentic Hadith? How should we distinguish the authentic Hadith? This is the problem. People like Bin Laden, Mullar Omar and et al and their followers sticks to and recite certain Koran verses five times a day and memorize certain Hadith and its interpretation. Dr. Shakir Naik and his band of tele-evangelical-islamist peace nicks never ever mention those Koran verses or Hadith. For example, Sura xivii 4 says; “When you meet the unbelievers, (Jews and Christians) strike off their heads; then when you have made wide slaughter among them, carefully tie up the remaining captives.” Do you want me to quote more of them?
Problem for the world today is; all true Muslims furtively accept that Talibans and Bin Laden had done the right thing. Where do you stand?

@ Leela – Guilty Conscious Pricks the Mind. Either one worships or not. Quite Straight forward, no classic analysis required or bring in a Muslim mindset into the equation. VERY SATISFIED WITH YOUR STATEMENT THAT BUDDHISTS DO NOT PRAY TO LORD BUDDHA OR HIS STATUES. In fact this is very good news. The question is will all Buddhists share this belief? The discussion is with me not with my fellowmen in faith. We have no control on whats others think or do but surely we can as individuals can straighten our understanding on each others belief system. Our debate is to uncover the truth from falsehood and thus build respect to each others faith.
Your assumption is appalling that I place the blame on other Muslims, just because I do not agree with some of them. I make every effort to differentiate right from wrong and I support what is right and try to correct through discussion those who have strayed away or misunderstood the message of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH).
Do you know or are you blinded by the fact that Islamic scholars around the world have condemned the actions of so called Taliban, Bin Laden; or are you so biased that you prefer to pick and choose the Media Propaganda by the enemies of Islam. The Arabic language is highly complexed and one word has many meaning and many interpretations and they should be taken in context of the time, place and the conditions prevailed at that time and era. For example the life span in Arabia 1400 years ago was 41 years average so they got married soon after puberty. The right interpretation of the Noble Quran and Authentic Hadith is fortunately widely practiced by most Muslims.
In Your example you have polluted this statement ‘“When you meet the unbelievers, (Jews and Christians) strike off their heads; then when you have made wide slaughter among them, carefully tie up the remaining captives.” – During the time of War, what would a General command his soldiers at the Battle field. Remember, take into account the time, place and the conditions prevailed at that time of revelation of a verse. By the way the Noble Quran is very specific about the humane treatment of all captives, specially women, children, property and animals; which you have conveniently ignored or prefer the polluted version. I repeat; It’s injurious to ones Mental Health to believe in fictitious history.
Hadith loosely translated is the saying/way of the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) and were compiled during his lifetime by scribes and some of his companions memorised them by heart and they are intact to this day. Yes, they can be misunderstood as you have quoted some polluted versions. When you quote the Noble Quran, please quote the Chapter and Verse. It’s for easy reference. Example; O mankind! Lo! We have created you from male and female, and have made you nations and tribes that ye may know one another. Lo! the noblest of you, in the sight of Allah, is the best in conduct. Lo! Allah is Knower, Aware. (The Noble Quran Chapter 49: Verse 13)
Caution: the Noble Quran cannot be translated into any language. It is the Word of God and the last testament to mankind.

My concern is not about merits of idol or other worshiping but ones right to worship whatever they want. Sure it hurts me when I think of Muslim mindset is to demolish religious idols. No; I do not assume all Muslims are to be blamed just because you have blamed a selected few. On the contrary, I was compelled to think of ‘idol demolition Muslim mindset’ because there are very many Koran verses and numerous Hadith to promote vanquishing of Al Fitnah (disbelief).
Before the defeat of Meccans by Muhammad, idol worshiping hd been rampant there. When Muhammad began his preaching of one God or a unit that put all gods in to one, Meccans disapproved it or rather persecuted him. He immediately had a revelation full of instructive legends of many nations whom God had destroyed for their wickedness in rejecting the prophets who had been sent to them.
Such revelations didn’t do much good to Muhammad or his supporters. Persecution his followers got intense and Muhammad was on the run. In 616 he had to publish a revelation recognizing three Meccan idols, Lat, Ozza and Manah, as intercessors with Allah.
In consequence of this concession to their faith, the Korayshites, his own tribe, fell down on their faces in adoration of Allah. Moreover, exiles in Abyssinia returned to their native land. By and by, he obtained other important converts, among who were Abu Bakr, Zobayr and Othman, afterwards the caliph.
However, Muhammad soon became ashamed of the weakness by which he had purchased public support. The verses were struck out of the Koran and the weakness was attributed to the devil. That is explained in 52 and 53verses of Sura xxii; “but God shall bring to naught that which Satan had suggested. Thus, shall God affirm his revelations, for God is All knowing, Wise. That he may make that which Satan hath injected, a trial to those in whose hearts is a disease, and whose hearts are hardened.”
All that being said to show the connection of Idols demolishing at fighting in Badr.
I congratulate you for you have defended Sura xivii 4 very well. Perhaps you would explain us just a few more Koran verses and Hadith as follows:
Qur’an 2:193 “Fight them until there is no more Al Fitnah (disbelievers like us) and religion is only for Allah. But if they cease/desist, let there be no hostility except against infidel disbelievers.”
Qur’an 8:65 “O Prophet, urge the faithful to fight. If there are twenty among you with determination they will vanquish two hundred; if there are a hundred then they will slaughter a thousand unbelievers, for the infidels are a people devoid of understanding.”

@Leela – God created Human beings with a Free Will and send down scriptures to nations and tribes from time to time, giving them specific instructions how to live life on earth. Some Humans respect this Free Will while others try to impose it by force. The Noble Quran’s position is as follow:-
There is no compulsion in religion. The right direction is henceforth distinct from error. And he who rejecteth false deities and believeth in Allah hath grasped a firm handhold which will never break. Allah is Hearer, Knower. (The Noble Quran 2:256)
In response to your statement above – I was compelled to think of ‘idol demolition Muslim mindset’ because there are very many Koran verses and numerous Hadith to promote vanquishing of Al Fitnah (disbelief).
The separation of Muslim mindset from the Message of Islam is vital. People’s mindset can differ from time to time, however the the message in the Noble Quran is for all ages. Let me site an example, 50 years ago Homosexuality was a disease, today it is a lifestyle. I have no problem with peoples freedom of life choices. Another incorrect word Al Fitnah (disbelief). Like I wrote before the Arabic language in highly complexed. The sweetness of the Arabic language can be experienced only by learning it from the Islamic scholars.
Of course, Idol worship was rampant and mind you. it was and it is a thriving business venture to this day. Plus the complementary offerings to the Idols/Statues and those people who benefited behind the scene. This was big business in Arabia. One has to read the pre-Islamic era and one will not find it any different with those people who pray to Idols and Statues today. NO OFFENSE AS BUDDHISTS DO NOT PRAY TO LORD BUDDHA OR HIS STATUES. The Arabs at that time led a miserable life. Even to this day who do not put into practice the Message of Islam as it was prescribed to Mankind.
The Prophet’s (PBUH) never compromised at any time in his life with the revelations from Allah, even though his own tribe offered him money, wealth and power, which he rejected it. He lived a simple life until his death.
The Noble Quran’s purity is protected by the one who revealed it to him. This fact has been confirmed by various researches conducted in the past by credible people, Muslims and Non Muslims and more researches are done to this day.
