Injustice of the highest order
Posted on September 30th, 2012

By Dr. Mrs. Mareena Thaha Reffai Dehiwela.

Are we a nation of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ sense or nonsense? Recent events certainly should pose ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ this question to ourselves.

Look at our most educated lot- when the Minister does not give the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ pay rise as demanded what do the doctors do? They go on strike ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” in effect they refuse to treat the poor patients. As if the poor patients can make the minister relent. When a ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ politician attacks one signal doctor ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” who may be or may not be at fault- the doctors strike! As if that will rectify the situation. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Meanwhile if the same minister or his relatives fall ill, I am sure all the doctors will oblige by ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ treating them.

When the teachers do not get what they want as salary ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” they refuse to correct national exam papers. Who suffers? Not the policy makers rather the poor students who had nothing to do with theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  salary rise and are absolutely incapableƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  of bringing a change of mind of the policy makers.

Worst of all, when one politician is supposed to have spoken rudely to a Judge, what do the whole ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ of the judiciary do? Yes, you guessed correct, they go on strike! And who suffers? The politician? No, not at all. All the poor people who had cases in the court suffer- on one side their cases are postponed and on the other they do pay the lawyer for having agreed to appear on that day!

So ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” what is the policy of our intellectuals? If Paul hurts you punish poor Peter ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” that is the poor citizen Perera. ! And citizen Perera gets punished for the crimes of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ everyone ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ else! And does he make a hum about it? No he just grins and bears it up.

Is this fair? Is the justice? Is this correct? Do we call ourselves an intelligent nation? ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ How come we all sit back and take this nonsense? How come there is no one to speak out for justice ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ for the innocent poor people?

Punishing the common man for crimes committed by one or two individuals has come to be the norm in our country!. If this is not ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ impingement of human rights, I donƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t know what is.

It is time this stopped. Why not protest when this utter injustice happens? Why not take the doctors, teachers, and judges to courts ( ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Ha! That will be the dayƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” I can hear you say.)

    I agree.

This collective punishment nonsense of supposedly “educated” fools is unacceptable.

  2. M.S.MUDALI Says:

Can Mareena explain how the Islamic sharia ask a raped woman to produce four eye witnenesses?

  3. Dham Says:

Injustice of the highest order is not this. It is the following.

After occupying the entire Palestinian land, Zionists resorted to all measures to force people out, those measures still continue to the present time, whether it was physical, economical, psychological or even murder. Massacring Palestinians was not limited to those in the West Bank and Gaza; During its invasion of Lebanon in 1982, Zionist agents committed one of the most horrible massacre in the history of humanity, the Sabra & Shatilla Massacre.

How about a lesson in Moral Values to all Sri Lankans? That’s a bitter Pill to swallow. Sometimes Ignorance is Bliss. Perception ‘CONTROLS’ Genes. Environment ‘SHAPES’ Genetic Code. Therefore, Perception ‘REWRITES’ Our Genes.

  5. Charles Says:

Mareena has taken up a serious subject. A matter which has gone completely out of control and the University professors of FUTA are holding a whole generation and the country to ransom because they want an increase of salary. It is sad the people did not manifest against this ignoble strike of FUTA.

That being said Mudali, Dham and Hussain are quite outside the subject.

Thank you Mareena for broaching this serious subject for which the government could not find any other means, but give into them. They should have set up anti FUTA manifestations and encouraged affected students to come forward in numbers, if not to manifest , then to appeal to the professors of FUTA to eturn to work.

  6. MuhammadFS Says:

As a moderate Muslim I condemn the Muslim attack on Buddhists yesterday in Bangladesh. On behalf of Muslims, I apologise.

The wrong was committed not by the boy who suppose to have burnt the holy book but by those who went on rampage. Islam is not about idolising anything.

Muslims are killed in their thousands in Burma. Bangladesh is Burma’s neighbour. Things will get bad to worse in Burma now.

As intelligent Muslims we must admit that Muslims are digging own grave. Fighting Jews, Christians, Hindus and now Buddhists will only make them gang up against Muslims at a time hundreds of thousands of Muslim widows and children need their sympathy.

    MuhammadFS!
I realy appreciate your genuinely conciousnes to apologise the Buddhists on behalf of the MISGUIDED,ILLETERATE MUSLIMS who destroyed the Lord Buddha’s Statues and some Houses. Also you are 100% correct to say that many Muslims around the world are TOTALLY MISLEAD AND DIGGING THEIR OWN GRAVE.Because, for example in Iraq & Libiya, how peacefully and happily the Muslims lived although their rulers Sadam Hussain & Gadaffi at that time were tough and strict.Foolish oppositions Muslims of those countries sataged war against their leaders and KILLED THEM WITH THEIR FAMILIES IN BRUTAL WAY with the underhand support of the Western world who were hell bent on detroying the stability of those countries. And now whats happenning in those countries??? MANY INNOCENT MUSLIMS ARE GETTING KILLED DAILY! and many are homeless, parentsless, and lead miisserable life.
Although the Buddhist Statues are destroyed by Muslims in Afganistan,Bangladesh and many places,BUDDHISTS WILL NEVER RISE AND GANG UP WITH CHRISTIANS Etc AGAINST THE MUSLIMS, AS ITS AGAINST BUDDHIST PHILOSOPHY AND THEY ARE MORE CULTURED AND MATURED TO PRCTICE BUDDHIST PRECEPTS, MuhammadFS!
Whats undergoing by the Muslims all over is the results of RETRIBUTION.So the Muslims, should follow what is said by GENUINE MUSLIM FOLLOWER LIKE MuhammadFS.Then things will turn to better.I BELIEVE AND PRAY!!!

Very appropriate article by Dr . Mrs. Mareena Taha.

Medical doctors, university lecturers are educated as we think. Unfortunately, most of them are only educated in their brains and not in their hearts. When the brain is educated and the heart is not so any professional person is unable to maitain his/her equilibrium. Then, they will become more halmful to the country. A country needs professionals well educated both in the brain and the heart as well. When the brain is full of scholastic achievements and the heart is empty of compassion, love, humanity they are no better than nincompoops whose ambitions run ahead of their abilities.
