The last few days much had been written expressing disappointment among the people about the T20 final result. There was also a report about 2 youths who had committed suicide as they were unable to put up with the defeat. Then it is an open secret, that in Sri Lanka as well as overseas, there was heavy betting on the day of the match. In the public eye, Sri Lanka winning the match was similar to the famous Australian horse ‘Black Caviar’ running a race. But here the astonishing result was a heart-break for Sri Lanka.

Now, the media reports about a telecast on Monday prime time by India TV, which had revealed that, under-cover reporters had exposed 6 ICC umpires, caught on camera, willing to fix matches for money during the T 20. The operation had been carried on ahead of the ICC World Cup T20. According to India TV, the umpires who were named are from Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh. One had promised the under-cover reporter any kind of favour for any player in umpiring. Another had promised to give ‘out’ even if he was not out in exchange for money. A third had agreed to reveal the match pitch report, weather report, toss report and the playing eleven of both teams. The other three as well had offered to give decisions in any format and expressed their wilingness in this ‘business’.

It appears that corruption had crept into cricket as well in a big scale. According to the latest those involved had been stood down. Where there is big money involved it is not surprising that corruption is rampant. We have to thank the Indians for exposing this.

    ගොඩක් කාලයක් ක්‍රිකට් ගහපු මටත් හිතුනේ ලසිත් මාලිංග ගැන “පුහුල් හොරා කරෙන් දැනේ” කියලා!

Lsith Malinga single handedly distroyed this match. I suspect he recieved money via India.
This bugger should not be in the team, together with one more suspect, who drops crucial catches.
