CJ’s denial of malpractices untenable

CJƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Shirani Bandaranayake had denied the allegations made against her and said that she could easily refute them. She had added, that there was no financial impropriety on her part and that she will continue to duly and properly discharge her duties without fear or favour and do so impartially.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Her attorney Neelakandan had said, “…Our client has a few non-operative accountsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in the NDBƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ …There may beƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ non-operative accounts in other banks….Our client believes theyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ have been closed…” Thus it appears that the defence statement is vague.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Reacting to a letter sent by the CJ on this issue legal expertsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ had said that the defences are untenable. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
A new President takes oaths before a CJ. In the past, when Sri Lanka had a Gov General, and by chance if he had to be away, it was the CJ who acted inƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ his place. Therefore, being the most important post in theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ country its ‘sanctity’ should be preserved. And whoever holds the post should refrain from indulging in ‘malpractices or under-ground’ activities. HerƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ husband had been allegedly involved in a 350 mn rupee deal in the NDB. With regard to the CJ there are 14 charges levelled against her. Therefore, without washing dirty linen in public the best would be for the CJ to resign, so that people canƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ haveƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ full confidence in the Judiciary.

looks like cj was corrupt but everyone else is corrupt – how to clean this mess!?

millions lost their houses during the recent rains, how many ministers and their families servants included, were overseas at the same time spending publlic money travelling business class?

  2. nandimitra Says:

CJ alleged to be corrupt but the air lanka chief was found to have been burgled when not home of a 4 million gold watch which was at home, probably he had another which he was wearing, foreign currencies breaking the exchange control regulations, we of course are not privy to his bank accounts how ever there is not much difference in the accusations against the CJ and Air Lanka chief. He received all this money from the son in Australia ironically the CJ received the money from her sister in Australia. The CJ is accused of corruption but in the case of Air Lanka chief it was just an oversight. This is hypocrisy of the first order. The ordinary citizens needs answers and that can only come from the President.

  3. Dham Says:

CJ is only minute corrupt compared to billions of others.
Whatever it is catching corrupt is a good thing.
What happened to Fonseka’s corruption ?
    Frogotton now ?

  4. Melbourne Patriot Says:

if sf corrupt, how can he be lower middle class; only owns a 3 bedroom house in boralesgamuwa, worth say Rs 20 lakhs built with a bank loan

What about the ‘Mansion’ Sarath Fonseka had bought in the US?

  6. Fran Diaz Says:

So long as the following factors are in our collective social psyche, corruption will prevail, at some lesser some greater extents. Human frailties must be taken into account with some sympathy when passing judgment on people for the offence
    of corruption.

    – Greed, Fear of poverty, insecurity for self & family, fear of death, social status, feelings of superiority in society, envy & jealousy of others with money and possessions, etc.

The list is long indeed. Meditation helps to overcome a lot of these factors.

China has a similar problem, believe it or not. Some of the retiring Party members have collected huge sums ($2 billion in some cases). Similar problems exist in the developed western countries.
Some sort of common Pension formula must be arrived at for retirees, as well as disclosure of wealth while in office. Some leaders really deserve high remuneration for good work done.

Where is our INCOME tax department, anti-corruption squads and central bank? Why cannot those departments which are working on behalf of the government, take no action of their own in any court of law?

The Budget for 2013 presented to Parliament by the HE President contained an interesting proposal viz.:

“No Foreign National will be allowed to buy any property in Sri lanka, but lease on a 99 year basis”

All this while foreign nationals had legal immunity to buy properties and that process was going on at very high momentum. This was done through “local participation” as well, but no Authority (Revenue & Tax Dept. ect.) has ever inquired as to how the “Local Paties” received the funds excepting in the case filed agaist Hon: Ravi Karunanayake MP, for receiving US funds to buy shares in a local bank.

I suspect that this proposal has been mooted as “consequential” to the first charge against the Chief Justice. The two individuals who have purchased properties belonging to legally constituted, incorporated companies through Power -OF -Attorney”are foreign nationals. ( I do not know whether they hava obtained “Dual Citizenship” as Sri Lankans). Incidentally these properties do not either belong to the Golden Key Credit Co. or Finance and Gurasntee Co.

Perhaps, in another development “consequential” to this Impeachment of CJ, it would be interesting to see the drama that will be unfolded as to how the funds have been channeled by the Foreign Nationals who have already purchased properties in Sri Lanka. There are many questions than answers and also so many propeties have changed hands involving Foreign Nationals all over Sri Lanka.

Anyway, we would like to find answers to many of our questions as regards this acquisition of properties by Foreign Nationals . Let us wait and hope our questions will also be answered.

Malpractice? It’s a lot worse than that.

I have been following the recent events as presented by the London-based “Colombo Telegraph” (which likes to call itself CT).

Today there was another article protesting the innocence of “the CJ and her husband”. The editors of the CT (Colombo Telegraph) refused to publish the comment. This is what it was:

    COMMENT WITHELD BY COLOMBO TELEGRAPH

From the look of things from over here, Pradeep Kariyawasam is not just guilty of helping his wife Shirani Bandaranaike (Bandaranayaka) embezzle the “Tsunami Appeal Funds” and millions of dollars that were donated by good people around the world to help the “victims of the Asian Tsunami” in Sri Lanka.

He was involved in CAUSING the “tsunami” in the first place. Needless to say, though, he was not working alone. The fat “Tamil businessman” has neither the brains nor technological ability to cause a tidal wave of anything other than “opinion”. This is rapidly turning against him and his wife, who various paid commentators, the defunkt Sunday Leader, and Colombo Telegraph refer to as “CJ” as if she’s a mate of theirs.

The only CJ I know is Channa Jeyantha…and he is not the CJ anyone is talking about here, is it? Or is it?

THE WAR CRIMES OF TAMIL NADU FILM DIRECTOR “SEEMAN”

Most people outside Tamil Nadu have not heard of the Tamil Nadu film director who is so famous in the southern Indian state that he is known just as “SEEMAN”.

Anyone familiar with the English language will notice that the sound of this name can be spelt in two, more, usual ways: SEAMAN, and SEMEN. This is no coincidence. It is also no coincidence that the sound of the plural of SEAMAN, “SEAMEN” is indistinguishable from the singular form (Sea-man). Sea-men are, of course, sailors – like the Scandinavians and the “Sea Tigers”…not to mention Donald Gnanakone’s recently “deceased” brother, Charles Gnanakone (if one believes Usha Sri-Skandarajah of the TGTE, which I don’t).

It has become clear to me that the “Eelam Wars series” was the creation of SEEMAN. He owned the rights to the “movies” of the “Truth Tigers” along with VAIKO and the others who financed the project. “TAMIL EELAM” was his “film set”. Far from prying eyes, he embarked on an orgy of killing, rape, torture, mutilation and brutality in the “LTTE controlled” part of Sri Lanka (the boundaries of the Indian director’s film set, in other words). It was all “live”. Live ammunition, real bombs, real “action”, “hard core” horror, violence and pornography and a captive cast of millions.

SEEMAN was, of course, familiar with the strategy used by the American film director SAM PECKINPAH, who pioneered the method of achieving “realistic violence” by using real violence. And the people his “actors” were shooting were not expecting to be shot with “live rounds” of ammunition. They were the “extras”.

In the SEEMAN, VAIKO, SENEWIRATNE movie extravaganza the “extras” were everyone except the “stars”. This is, of course, the Hollywood way of making movies. And all the extras were, as usual, to be killed at the end of the final movie.

These “extras” were the people who were saved by the brave and noble soldiers of the Sri Lankan army. Yes, it was, as the Sri Lankan government has always maintained, a humanitarian operation to save the survivors of SEEMAN’S “EELAM WARS” movie set. Though the government did not know what was really going on, or how many people were being held hostage by the Indian Film Director and his projected heroes, the “LTTE”.

The rest is, as they say, history….Predeep Kariyawasam was the “bagman”, his wife, specially trained for the job of acting as “CJ” played her role, as she was instructed, by her lawyers and masters…but now they have been caught, red-handed!

    RS,
What is your DADA’s connection to Seman bugger , other than “dramas” they created ?

  13. Dham Says:

MS Muadli’s qestion is a valid one.
“Where is our INCOME tax department, anti-corruption squads and central bank? Why cannot those departments which are working on behalf of the government, take no action of their own in any court of law?”

The case of NSB was mentioned buy our Stanley Perera while he was in Sri lanka. Where is he now ?

  14. Dr Romesh Senewiratne Says:

    Dhammi,

I do not call my father “dada” or “dadda”. It was insisted, since my birth, that I called him “ThaTha”. This is, in fact, a Polish name for father. It dates back to the time of the Dutch. You see, some members of my father’s family “converted” to the Dutch version of Christianity, in the 1700s, or even earlier. They called themselves “Burgers” and were, as a result of their betrayal of the Singhalese and Dhemala people, and willingness to shoot “natives”, they were given favored treatment by the Dutch.

    It’s a long story, Dham.

But to answer your question regarding the role of Brian Senewiratne in the SEEMAN (not Seman) dramas:

    1. He organized “SEEMAN” to take over the job of being “director” of his (Brian Senewiratne’s) movie project in the Vanni. SEEMAN (not his real name) was a “double” for Prabakaran, “Prbha”, “Thambi” – the “rebel leader” in the “epic struggle” for what was, finally called “EELAM”. SEEMAN was the last of the directors. I don’t know who the previous ones were. Probably killed by SEEMAN, for him to get the job.

    2. If you look at the Wikipedia entry on SEEMAN you will notice that only his “surname is given in English”. His “Christian Name” (as the Romans called it) is only provided in Tamil. I couldn’t read Tamil script until a few months ago. Yesterday, when I looked as SEEMAN’s entry in Wikipedia, I noticed that his “CHRISTIAN NAME” alliterates a “SENTdaMIIZION” (Sent the Mission). ie: his “screen name” is “Sent-the-mission” Seeman (also Send the Mission Seaman and “scent emission semen”. He , like all the LTTE “leaders” (in the films), started as a “PORN STAR”, in Brian Senewiratne’s HARDCORE films.

    2. The local financier in these HARDCORE movies, in most recent times, who also made “cameo appearances” was the Tamil Nadu politician VAIKO. He was one of the original conspirators, together with my father and others, some of whom I have named already.

    3. The preparation for this staged war began long ago, before I was born. I, too, was intended to be a “character” in the EPIC HOLLYWOOD BLOCKBUSTER that was planned, back in the 1950s, by the same people who made “Ben Hur”. It was going to be “BIGGER THAN BEN-HUR” at the “BOX OFFICE”.

I’m still working out the details…I will update you good people at Lankaweb, on my progress.

I know about Seeman and Vaiko. Never knew your Thaththa had connections with these disgraceful humans.
I have read with interest your previous comments in lankaWeb.

  16. Dham Says:

Just a silly question Romesh. This Nondi Pillay woman had any role to play in Seeman directed box office hit ?

  17. Dr Romesh Senewiratne Says:

Having explored the matter more carefully, I don’t think my father, Brian Senewiratne, had any involvement in making movies related to the war in Sri Lanka. He denies knowing Seeman or Vaiko. I also no longer believe that Sam Peckinpah’s technique for achieving realistic violence is in widespread use in Hollywood, as I was suspecting back in 2012.
