THE OTTAWA CITIZEN

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Dear Editor:

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Let’s get this story rightƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ about Sri Lanka’s Tamil Tiger separatist war once and for all.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is not only the Tamil civilians who got killed, which is being blamed on the Sri Lankan Government soldiers, the Sinhalese and Muslim civiliansƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  too were killed in the thousands by the Tamil Tigers, with machates, AK47s, claymore mines, suicide bombs, and other sophisticated war weapons. It was an every day affair which hijacked the right-to-life of 21 million peoples by the Tamil Tiger terroristsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ forƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  27 ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ bloody years until their rights were given backƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  by the MahindaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Rajapaksa government having wiped out the Tamil Tigers militarilyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ on 19 May 2009.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is cruel and disingenuous for the UN to now talk of war crimes against the Sri Lankan soldiersƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ who liberated the country when the UN was ineffectual to protect the Sri Lankan peoples for 27 years that killed over 100,000 people but just not those killed duringƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the last five months of the war which the UNƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ keeps lamenting about as human rights violations.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And the UN did sweet nothing when over 7,300 children, girls and boys,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ were kidnapped by the Tamil Tigers to be given a three month course how to fight with guns and bullets and sent to the front line only to be killed by gun fire; and training young girls to be suicide bombers who were involvedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  in half of the 388 suicide bombs that were detonated killing themselves and hundreds of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ others each time.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Acccording to UNICEF by 2007 there were a total of 6,183 cases of child recruitment by the Tamil Tigers of which 3,732 were boys and 2,451 were girls.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It would be fair to note after liberating the country and its peoples, especiallyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the Tamils from the clutchers of the ruthless Tamil Tigers, the soldiers liberated just over 1000 child soldiers, reintegratedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  them into society, sent them back to their parents and ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ school and some after three years are now attending university to become doctors, lawyers and engineers.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  That isƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the real story which the media seems to miss in their radar.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Let truth prevail, and lets stop knocking the Sri Lankan government who came to the rescue of its Tamil Tiger jackbootedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  21 million people when the UN failed to help them.

Did this appear in the Ottawa Citizen. In the West the ordinary people (other than the Tamil Diaspora) seem to be disinterested in world politics and the dabbling of their own countries in the affairs of other Sovereign States. It is only the media and the State that show interest.

Let UN should admits failure NOT ONLY in Sri Lanka. UN failed in every country where USA, UK & EU interfered.

  3. Dham Says:

UN did not fail anywhere – they failed only in Sri Lanka, could not rescue LTTE.
They are on a mission. They know exactly what is to be done.
What punishment did the corrup Kopi uncle and the others got ?

  4. Dham Says:

UN is making a statement LTTE=Tamils and Tamils = LTTE.
