A pawn in the hands of NGOs

Patriotic National Movement president and prominent writer Dr Gunadasa Amarasekera said Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake has played a political role in deciding to sit in judgment over the Divi Neguma Bill.

He said this was in defiance of a ruling by Justice Mark Fernando that she should not be a part of Benches hearing political cases on devolution.

Dr. Amarasekera said the Chief Justice had made political comments on the subject of devolution of power.

The Jathika Hela Urumaya filed two cases in the Supreme Court challenging her appointment as a Supreme Court Judge as she had made political comments on the subject of devolution of power.

Dr. Amarasekera said Justice Fernando while dismissing these cases against her appointment to the Bench, had stressed that she should not hear cases of that nature in the future.

He said Justice Fernando made a special note defining her judicial role, and the type of cases she can hear.

Speaking at a seminar on Impeachment and PeopleƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Sovereignty, organised by the PeopleƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s

Campaign for Justice at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute on Wednesday, Dr Amarasekera said the government should unravel the massive conspiracy associated with the conduct of the Chief Justice who has allowed herself to be a pawn in the hands of the NGO mafia and the LTTE proxies.

“Forces who were conspiring against the country during the height of the war on terrorism are behind the Chief Justice,” he said.

Dr Amarasekera said the political campaign based on the impeachment motion against the Chief Justice is the latest episode of their conspiracy. He said these conspirators have used lawyers to achieve their ulterior motives.

“The people should understand that the political campaign based on the impeachment motion is part of a conspiracy which is being hatched by the NGO mafia in connivance with the LTTE proxies to create confusion and discord in the country.” He said LTTE proxies and NGOs used various tactics and persons to achieve what Prabahakaran could not.

“They are trying to create discord within the country by inciting people for an Arab Spring style uprising to force the government out of office which is to the liking of Western countries,” Dr Amarasekera said. BASL vice president Anoma Gunathilake scoffed at the accusations by certain quarters that complainants themselves are investigating the impeachment charges against the Chief Justice.

She said the impeachment motion was signed by a group of parliamentarians and these signatories have not been appointed to the Parliamentary Select Committee investigating into the impeachment charges.

Gunathilake said the people have been left with no option other than to protect the present government to keep the country and the nation intact.

(The people should understand that the political campaign based on the impeachment motion is part of a conspiracy which is being hatched by the NGO mafia in connivance with the LTTE proxies to create confusion and discord in the country.)

We are hearing this for the past 3 years and likely to hear it every time the President messes it up.

After reading many arguments, views and events that took place with regards to Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake impeachment and the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC). final out come will be historical. That Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake became the first female CJ and first CJ to kick out from the position in Sri Lanka.

Same as Sarath Fonseka she too can go round and round the mulberry bush. All supporters also vanish gradually same what happened to SF. President MR know these circumstance very well and act according to the time. If she like can be the next common candidate for Presidential election. Good luck to Shirani Bandaranayake, Sarath Fonseka & Sarath Silva and to all their supports who cracked coconut, tied pirith nool, protest marches etc.

The problem is not the judgement which is correct. The problem is 13A. The government tries to keep 13A and wants the Supreme Court help in their act of cover-up.

Ultimately we will end up with 13A, Divineguma Units and 13P, and, the Supreme Court telling the people they are harmless.

    Dilrook
I do not believe for a moment that those who pull strings in the government likes the 13A any more than you and I. Remember, that peace agreement RanilW signed with Pirapakaran; MR kept it not because he liked it but he had no choice. But the JVP demanded that it be cancelled immediately from the day that MR was elected President. Aim of the JVP was to make the war winnable.

No arguments, court orders related to DiviNaguma bill has clearly shown that 13A is the first step towards dividing this country. It’s a time bomb that must be defused quickly. All indications are, how and when to do it must be the only questions for MR.

In an article written by Dr.Amarasekara a few months back, he had explained why 13A must be tackled step by step basis. I fully agree with him on that for I can see a lot of government MPs are adamant we retain 13A unless, they say, there is something else is there to take its place. What do you think?

I too fully aggree with dhane.CJ SB has by taking all authoruties to her hand like SF, no sooner he was made AC,took over the Army Tender Board unashamedly and supported his S-I-Law on his bids making him richer and richer and ultimately fell out with the very Mastwr who supported SF.At Elections Ralliesand Meeetings, seing the crowds cheering him SF Totally lost his head and I heard that even RW whooffered SF tocontest as common candidate wasthrown to a corner. And now, after loosing all efforts at Elections, tried to potrtay a different story like a Computer Gilmart conspiracy along with traitors JVP and nowhe has lost the very people who supported SF.
So, the same will happen to the Cheap Justice who took over certain court cases handled by other Judges and obtained a handsome discount from the accused company and complainents who were and still loosing their deposits have been penalised. Is that Good Governace by a CHEAP JUSTICE or IS IT NOT TRUE THAT SB HAS BECOME A CHEAP JUSTICE???

  6. A. Sooriarachi Says:

It should now be clear to everybody that the Chief Justice is afraid to face the investigation of her activities and is trying to wriggle out of it through the support of disruptive forces. In the process this CJ has made the judiciary the laughing stock of the law abiding citizens of the world and the sooner she is replaced, the better it is. What I cant understand is that the support she is getting from lawyers led by the UNP MP Wijedasa Rajapakse who is also the President of the Bar Association and he himself has violated the constitution of the Association in his haste to throw mud at this Govt which up to now has diligently followed the Constitution of the country to impeach the CJ unlike the JR Jayawardena Govt which merely sacked judges.

  7. Wickrama Says:

I wonder why SF is completely silent on this issue ?
    Any ideas/rumors/predictions?

  8. Piyadigama Says:

Good news. Senator John Kerry has replaced that dirty woman Clinton as US Secretary of State. Hopefully a new era of good relations between our two countries will start from now.
