According to media reports, a group of lawyers called ‘ Lawyers Collective’ have urged Supreme Court Judges to resist the govt’s move to remove CJ Shiranie B. They have released a letter from TNA MP., Sumanthiran’s office to all Supreme Court Judges and referring to the Impeachment probe have said, “…We the undersigned earnestly request thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the Judges of the Supreme Court should refuse to accept an appointment of Chief Justice or refuse toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ recognise any person appointed to the office of Chief Justice or sit with a person appointed as CJ…” . What right has Sumanthiran and his henchmen to send a letter to Supreme Court Judges ‘instructing’ them what to do ?
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
During theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ heydays of the LTTE,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ TNA was their mouth-piece and it is an open secret that even now their sympathies are with LTTE. The govt had clearly indicated the involvement of foreign powers, the LTTE rump and so onƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in destabilising the country and funding lavishly by them for this purpose. So no wonder thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ this letter had been released from TNA, MP., Sumanthiran’s office.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
During the last few weeks, Black-coats protests, demonstrations, meetings and so on ended up in brawls. At the moment they are split and fighting among themselves. Now that the curtain has fallen on CJ Shiranie B, she will be ditched by Black-coats in the same way Sarath Fonseka was dumped by bankrupt politicians !

Just rewinding on the TNA Saga, what happened to the proposed legal action on the TNA for the inclusion of a clause in their TNA constitution ‘seeking’ separation – that would be the key to shutting down the TNA?? – S de Silva – London

    PAS,

I can’t see what your problem is.

You ask, “What right has Sumanthiran and his henchmen to send a letter to Supreme Court Judges ‘instructing’ them what to do ?”

The ‘Lawyers Collective’ has merely made a REQUEST to the judges of the Supreme Court, something it is perfectly entitled to do. There is nothing sinister or illegal about that.

It seems you cannot appreciate the difference between ‘requesting’ and ‘instructing’.

  4. Lorenzo Says:

“President Mahinda Rajapaksa has signed the removal notice of the Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake, ratifying parliament’s vote to impeach her, the Presidential Spokesman said.

The letter removing Shirani Bandaranayake from the office of chief justice was signed by the President this morning and hand-delivered to her official residence, Mohan Samaranayake said.”

AT LAST THE CJ IS GONE.

Have some respect for the saree and leave the residence with SOME dignity.

We all remember how one hid himself in Hotel Cinnamon Grand until removed!!!

No need for it this time.

    Now we can celebrate Thaipongal!
