Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s first women Chief Justice, who was impeached earlier this year, has been summoned to appear before anti-graft commission to investigate allegations of bribery and corruption, officials said on Wednesday.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption has noticed former Chief Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake to appear before the Commission on March 18 regarding a complaint made against alleged amassing of wealth by her through unfair and illegal means, while she was a member of the public service.

The Commission has noticed Dr. Bandaranayake to appear on this date for purposes of obtaining a statement from her regarding the allegation. The complaint alleges that she possessed enormous wealth beyond the means of what an ordinary public servant earned through various corrupt means.

Officers of the Commission have already investigated into this complaint and they hoped to obtain a statement from her regarding the findings made during the investigation.

Asked for details regarding allegations made against Dr Bandaranayake in the complaint, Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption Chairman retired Supreme Court Jusitce Jagath Balapatabendi said they are strictly confidential and could not to be released to the media.

Some of that money must have come from the US for trying to de-stabilise SL, similar to Sarath Fonseka, who had brand new dollar notes!!
Hilary Clinton might have done something in this respect.. Afterall, it is all LieTTE money that they are giving to motivate these officials, including university lecturers, no from the US budget!!

Anybody who did a crime must face the music whether rich or poor. The whole country knows about her and her family. She disgraced the seat of the chief justice by joinning with our enemies to the land. She deserves punishment. Our country is not belongs to one person or one family. We have to think of the country which we were born and serve it honestly and truthfully.
If anyone wants to take revenge from the President or anyone they can do it seperately but not from the beloved land of ours. Do not give our enemies a chance to open their mouth against our Motherland. She did imense damage to the seat of the chief justice by going against the Government of Sri Lanka. Green bucks can do wonders with traitors to the Motherland.
