The National Sangha Council (Jathika Sangha Sammelanaya) today stated that they were organising a protest tomorrow in Maharashtra, India condemning the attacks against Sri Lankans including Buddhist monks in Tamil Nadu.

Chief Secretary to The council Ven. Dombagoda Sarananda Thera while condemning the current situation in Tamil Nadu said proper actions had been taken to stage the protest.

ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-There are more than 20 million Buddhists only in Maharashtra. As a result of the discussions with them and with the guidance of the Maharashtra National Sangha Council we are organising an especial protest tomorrow against violations in Tamil Nadu,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ he said.

The monk said they are arranging awareness campaigns also in the country and requested the government to take immediate actions about the issue.

ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-We kindly inform Sri Lankan government to discuss efficiently with the Indian central government when solving questions. And it would be better if they take proper actions to use Hyderabad airport instead of airports in Tamil Nadu,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ he said.

Further speaking to the media he said the government should declare Tamil Nadu as an insecure state for Sri Lankans.

ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-There is a large number of people monthly travelling to Tamil Nadu. We are informing our government to stop sending people to Tamil Nadu and declare the state as an insecure place for Sri Lankans right away,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ the monk said. (Jayasika Padmasiri and Lahiru Pothmulla)

As long as there are racist leaders like Jayalalitha and Karunanandi in Tamilnadu, who are inciting Tamils by joining hands with the overseas LTTE activists to spread false propoganda against SriLankans, Tamilnadu will be a dangerous place for any SriLankan to visit.
Irony of all this is these leaders have not todate demanded accountability from the LTTE diaspora which committed horrendous crimes against their own Tamil population, using the criminal services of Prabakaran.
I believe, whilst punishing the Tamilnadu Tamils engaged in ongoing violence against SriLankans, the Indian Govt should also take action against those Tamil leaders who continue to incite their people.
