Mr.President,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I really think that it is NOTƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Senile Decay, that is keeping you from giving ear to the Peoples Wishes, to abrogate the 13th Amendment. And Pakiya Sara’s CPA plans to petition the supreme court to STOP the 19 amendment.
Govt. has to be quick. In another 3 weeks TAMILIANS IN SL and overseas plan a BIG celebration for 30th year after WHITE JULY (1983)
Some Tamils plan a small scale riot on the anniversary date to grab world attention.
Do whatever before that. DON’T DELAY.

Yes Susantha, a NATIONAL REFERENDUM is the ULTIMATE answer. ‘NATIONAL’ is the keyword here, conducted simultaneously in all provinces. A warning: the TNA and the SLMC in this instance might fight for separate provincial referenda as their ‘Last Chance’ quoting irrelevant oreign examples. No such accommodation should be made as already indicated by some (Tamil?) comments. This is a national issue. I have also previously commented that a simpler (less expensive) route MAY also be possible by a legal REVIEW of the Pact by Constitutional Lawyers on the basis that the pact was forced upon SL under ‘duress’ which will make it illegal but a National referendum would be the last word.- S de Silva – London

If the 13th amendment stands then add another amendment that neutralizes it. Make Buddhism a state religion, negate provincial powers to that of the center according to the prevailing situations that support such a move. The existence of TESO, the funding of LITE, are reasons to keep power in Colombo. Make it illegal for any entity in Sri Lanka to seek foreign help on domestic political issues. Ban conversions to other faiths but allow conversions to Buddhism. That would effectively nullify the 13th amendment.
